Had a busy day and just catching up with what's been happening Down Under, via your ramblings, as usual Grin

What was Tim up to?
Am going to watch the BBC highlights later. The two men's matches look good, if the scorelines are anything to go by.

I read that Alfie Hewett is in the singles and doubles (with Gordon Reid) finals. Great news especially considering he was told last year that the rules would prevent him from playing!

JaneJeffer · 25/01/2022 15:15

Hi kazza Tim didn't seem to like the line of questioning Mats was going for with Matteo but didn't realise he was still on camera and was making all kinds of faces at Alize, head shaking, finger wagging and cut gestures across his throat Grin

Brilliant! I do like Tim. He's not the boring goody two shoes he was usually depicted as, back in the day.
Thanks Jane Smile

Raahh · 25/01/2022 21:26

Tim will always look like a bank clerk to me Grin.

Raahh · 25/01/2022 21:28

But he is funny-and I loved the interactions with him and Emma R at the US Open. He was so pleased when she won, it was lovely.

Raahh · 26/01/2022 07:08

Score watching whilst trying to get everyone up this morning- having the TV on is too distractingGrin.
Stef seems to be doing ok- no idea if Pa Tsitsipas is offering any advice from behind the mask though ( I'm assuming he's thereGrin).

kazzaD66 · 26/01/2022 08:55

I see Hewett and Reid won a record breaking 9th consecutive doubles title.
Salisbury and Ram are through but unfortunately Skupsi and Koolhof lost.

Raahh · 26/01/2022 09:37

Well done to Hewett and Reid- I saw the Salisbury/Ram result- I am always cross on Joe's behalf that he really doesn't get much recognition, as a Brit. Maybe he prefers it that way. I am hope Dick and Kokk lose- I don't want a Salisbury/Ram final ( if it gets that far).

I am just getting from school runs/dog walking- very close first set between Daniil/Felix. I think Felix just lost a break?

Raahh · 26/01/2022 09:51

First set Felix then.

Mama1980 · 26/01/2022 10:13

Felix is playing amazingly at the moment - Danil is definitely rattled.....set and a break up.

Raahh · 26/01/2022 10:14

Daniil could be in trouble- Felix seems to be out for revenge for the pretty bad loss to him at the recent ATP cup (even though Canada went on to win).

Raahh · 26/01/2022 10:29

This was not what I was expecting- really good stuff from Felix, but I keep expecting Daniil to fight back.
Maybe the pressure of being the favourite is too much?

JaneJeffer · 26/01/2022 11:12

Just tuned in. Wasn't expecting this score line.

OP posts:
Raahh · 26/01/2022 11:14

No, it's quite surprising, and although this set is closer, I'm still not getting the feeling that Daniil can do much to turn it around.

Raahh · 26/01/2022 11:16

But I am often proved wrong in situations like this -I mean Rafa had almost the same score against Stef in the QF- and then lost it. Grin.

Raahh · 26/01/2022 11:17

At least the crowd seem to be behaving today.Grin

JaneJeffer · 26/01/2022 11:18

They must have watered down the beer after yesterday Grin

It's raining?

JaneJeffer · 26/01/2022 11:25

I am shocked!

OP posts:
Raahh · 26/01/2022 11:25

This is not good timing.

Raahh · 26/01/2022 11:26

I hope it doesn't do this all week- I don't want a roof for Rafa!

Fizzywinegum · 26/01/2022 11:26

Rain!

JaneJeffer · 26/01/2022 11:27

I can't remember ever seeing rain at the AO before and didn't realise they even had a roof.

OP posts:
Raahh · 26/01/2022 11:34

Jane oh, they have a roof - they closed it when Roger played Cilic in the final. This was due to the heat rather than rain. It wasn't even that bad when the the men played (it was the year the wo,em played in extreme heat and one ended up in hospital).

Marin had been practicing outside- and under the roof is very different (but suited Roger, who likes indoor courts).

It's best not to get me started on unfair roof situations...

Raahh · 26/01/2022 11:34

I had a feeling this would happen...
