The fact her father chucked them out and said his behaviour was controlling shows that her at least potentially wasn’t raised this way.

The fact that her father chucked out his daughter with a man he thought was abusive and controlling, with her three young children, seems to be telling me something quite different to be honest.[/quote]
But she was back with her dad when he was in custody, so it would seem he is open to having her there, but not him, and she wasn’t for leaving him.

The father also shared various news articles to his FB page regarding the case/programme, their mugshots etc. Why would you do that?

Ecosaurus · 05/01/2022 10:45

@Bluntness100 So he took her in when she was safe and Kane was in custody, but threw her out when she wasn't safe?

That makes total sense.

RedHot22 · 05/01/2022 10:51

Kane Mitchell was a strange character.

He switched from macho aggressive to being really quite effeminate I thought.

Did anyone else think this?

waterlego · 05/01/2022 10:53

In terms of the pub, probably depends what sort of pub he frequents. I guess he’s either going to be challenged by others or they’ll just tolerate his behaviour.

I suspect he behaves himself in the pub where there are other men who are bigger and stronger than him, and saves his Rumpelstiltskin style screaming tantrums and accompanying ’slaps’ for when he is around women and children.

Absolutely- he probably tries it elsewhere and is challenged. He held it together in the interviews didn’t he? And didn’t assault the police even when he was yelling at them
beachyandswimmy · 05/01/2022 10:59

They must have been shitting themselves when they were asked to come into the CT scan.

No way is that accidental. Or that they somehow had no idea this happened. A child with every major bone in his body broken and you have no idea?

Then the hysterics from the father. Horrid man, at that point, how can anyone in the room not suspect him.

beachyandswimmy · 05/01/2022 11:01

@ParkheadParadise

The mother wasn't upset in any interviews. I know what it's like to be in shock but she was more concerned about the evil cunt.

The fake crying noises form the father too. No tears, of course, but he's all choked up Hmm

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 05/01/2022 11:06

I'm half way through the 2nd one. Absolutely heartbreaking

I would do this rather than have him and this abuse in the house, I have to be honest I’d say you can stay or you can go with him. I’d not keep him there to protect her, I’d take only so much then say it’s enough.

You’re a better person than me thay you’d live with him to protect her.

viques · 05/01/2022 11:13

Please stop calling him “the father” .He isn’t, he wasn’t. Teddie has a genetic father who is not the person who beat an eleven week old baby to death.

Perhaps those posters haven’t got that far with their viewing yet
lollipoprainbow · 05/01/2022 11:17

@RedHot22 yes I thought exactly the same, his voice seemed to change, when he was waiting to be put into the police van he even sounded like a little old man. All very odd.

He did, I thought.

Very odd and unpleasant to say the least and weird.

You don't find out about that until part way through the second episode
DillDanding · 05/01/2022 11:35

I haven’t been able to stop thinking about this and almost regret watching it.

It’s so depressing that Lucci (stupid spelling, I’d have pronounced it like Pucci) didn’t get a custodial sentence. But what happens to her now? She presumably still lives in the area and the vigilantes will undoubtedly be out in force with their pitchforks.

Obviously her involvement and actions were deplorable but will public money now be spent protecting her because of this programme? I would not want to be in her shoes.

Blossom987 · 05/01/2022 11:49

I have been looking to see if the sentencing remarks were published as they were for Brockhill/Smith and Tustin/Hughes but doesn’t look like they have been. Does anyone know if the general public can request these? I am intrigued why the sentences were so low in comparison and I think the remarks covers the mitigations put in by the defence teams.

I’m really surprised Lucci got acquitted for causing and allowing, I think she’s actually more culpable than Frankie Smith given the eldest child’s interview. I wonder whether the child was too young to have the interview used as evidence in the trial. I just don’t understand how she could be found not guilty on that count.

TueWed · 05/01/2022 12:00

@aleC4

The video footage of the dad captured by neighbours was terrifying. What a horrible man.
Agreed - I felt quite scared even being far away and at a different time. What an absolute cunt bully
TueWed · 05/01/2022 12:20

@MaybeHeIsMyCat

Interesting on his FB someone has said how gorgeous the baby is and he's replied

ty he is and he ain't ur mate Xs baby either just to clarify

His facebook is disturbing

Yes I can’t quite understand it either. Two years community service is very low, as is his sentancing of 18 years. This baby was abused from birth. And the mother knew. I know she was also a victim, as was stars mother, although she was also abusing.

But I just can’t work out how the mother here was not guilty of a section five, thay baby would have been in a lot of pain from earlier injuries, and she also lied and tried to obstruct police. She didn’t need a responsible adult with her either. She knew he was hitting her kids and witnessed it with the others, so I don’t understand how all she was guilty of was neglect and to such a low level she only got community service.

DillDanding · 05/01/2022 12:27

I admired the neighbours for reporting him.

The footage was scary and I think I’d have been scared to report him for fear he’d attack me or my family.

Sharpie0870 · 05/01/2022 12:38

I have to say, this was one of the most thoroughly disturbing things I have watch in a long time. I wouldn't have the stomach to work for Child Protection in any form. I'd be an emotional wreck.

If he does indeed having learning difficulties or another condition as suggested, the defence surely jumped on that to mitigate his sentence.

Yeah, I noticed his voice was all strained and weak sounding. Maybe it's the fact he's injured and can't square up to women and children anymore.

I thought the same.

The neighbours were clearly good people, even if they were also motivated by their own wish for some peace and quiet.
