It's slightly annoying that they are blaming the audience for hating the character, rather than looking at their own writing to work out why Che was so universally disliked

Lord how insufferable this American liberal preaching is! I couldn’t give a flying fuck about the non-binary aspect of this character, in fact, I welcome the idea of non-binary (if not the attention seeking bullshit aspect of it) over the rigid categorisation of gender politics. But the character stinks! They’re not funny, obnoxious in the extreme with the endless vape blowing and showboating, an accessory to adultery and has a total lack of boundaries. Yet MPK assumes I’m quaking in my boots at the notion of Che wanting to be addressed as ‘they’. Joke.

Compare Carries friend, who had a well rounded personality and was LIKEABLE and widely praised to Che, who had nothing to offer other than being non-binary. What were their likes/dislikes/problems/successes? There was absolutely nothing to round the character out.

Any hatred was 100% the result of shitty writing and poor character development

THIS attitude is what makes so many people "anti-woke" - the suggestion that if someone is disliked, it's automatically assumed/decided that it must be because of their gender or sexualty etc, and because of fear and intolerance; as opposed to the person just an unlikeable arse. The person who said this is blinded to that possibility

I doubt I'll bother with the next season. With more of the dreaded Che, it's just going to be more woke box-ticking.

btw did anyone watch the documentary that was supposed to be shown alongside AJLT? I can’t ever remember it been on but I watched it on my BA flight. It was very good and I can’t beleive I’ve never seen it. Great interviews and lovely wardrobe fittings. Such a lot went into making it that it made the show even more disappointing really. I do look forward to the next season though 😀

Always preferred Aidan but he was too good for Carrie and he has his 3 boys now so hope he doesn’t end up with Carrie!

The episode aired just before the allegations were made public, so I think it was always the intention. Noth was busy filming other shows at the time. There was a scene cut from the final episode where she met up with Big in a dream.

I don't think there was any need to kill the character off, it was hardly believable that Big and Carrie were going to have a fairytale ending given how dysfunctional their relationship had always been. Would have been more realistic to show the marriage failing, or at least allude to the fact it had failed.

On a tangent, I've just read that the Golden Girls characters at the start of the show were the same age as Carrie etc in this reboot. They both looked and seemed so much older!
