I'd forgotten just how much he used to irritate me with all his endless "Yer man in the big house so he is so he is" - please tell me he's only back on a temporary basis or I may have to find something more useful to do with my time!

OP posts:
HairyIrene · 12/12/2007 11:23

merryann
i reckon 2 'big houses' & 3 "so i am's'
lol
book group eh..always meant to join one, whatcha reading?

mincepiemama
that is so interesting!
terry, jack n vera tearaway used to do loads of stuff at edinburgh fringe used corrie money to fund it i think
nigel ?? cant remember

does Jim reckon its the script that keeps him so hammy awkward then so it is?
cause i love the dialogue

and he thinks its beneath him, they had Ian Mckellen on not so long ago
its massive exposure on quality show whats to not like for an actor???
dont get that!

and your dp..am wracking me brains now..
could it be her recent affair with the drayman???
or jims physio??

MerryAnnSinglemas · 12/12/2007 11:28

I do remember the physio !! how was it, kissing Liz / did he get beaten up by Jim ??
HairyIrene - we've been reading 'The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox' by Maggie O'Farrell - good but sad...we talk about the book for a bit, drink wine and scoff crisps !

Mincepiedermama · 12/12/2007 11:40

He didn't mind kissing Liz but I must admit everyone used to ask him that.

I think most actors do telly for the money because they couldn't live on theatre wages and also it's hard to get good theatre parts if you're not on TV too.

monkeybutler · 12/12/2007 13:02

Hairy Irene - a barm cake is a bread roll down south, a teacake in Yorkshire and a bread bun pratically everywhere else.

There isnt one manc on Corrie! There all from Oldham and Yorkshire.

LadyOfWassail · 12/12/2007 13:05

I LOVE Jim McDonald!!!

MerryAnnSinglemas · 12/12/2007 14:05

and a cob in East Midlands !
really, monkeybutler ? no mancs at all ? dh always complains when people try to speak (on tv) in a Notts. accent - they just do standard 'northern' - now I'm accustomed to hearing it it irritates me too

ishouldbeironing · 12/12/2007 14:13

Can you lot STOP this please.
I am recovering from a hernia op and it hurts when I laugh - so it does

bozza · 12/12/2007 14:21

But Notts isn't even northern. I agree that they do have a mishmash of northern accents.

monkeybutler · 12/12/2007 14:45

and why is Robin Hood the biggest manc on the telly?. He sounds like Liam Gallagher.

bossybritches · 12/12/2007 15:53

Ye gods I remember Jimmy Mac from eons ago I haven't watched Corrie for years!!

HairyIrene · 12/12/2007 17:02

monkeybutler
oh i see, cause they have bacon barms dont they..so its a roll!
i think i preferred my mysterious barm...

how can that be a teacake anywhere???

i had an eccles cake in salford once

getting bit fed up with michelle, and her accent is quite different to tasty liam's...is that right ladies??
dont know many but the obvious oop north accents

monkeybutler · 12/12/2007 17:17

In manchester a teacake has currents in it. Kim Marsh is from Oldham or Rochdale or somewhere like that. I think the connor bloke is probably dead posh in RL and has been watching too much Shameless.

Bizarrely enough, eccles cakes are made near where live and thats about 6 miles from Eccles!.

HairyIrene · 12/12/2007 17:22

in scotland too, teacake has currants and i love em toasted with butter ...

he's tasty though liam would share my teacake any day

shameless...urghhhhh...after first series it was shameless.....

eccles cakes were yum..

MerryAnnSinglemas · 12/12/2007 18:42

Maidamess · 12/12/2007 19:54

MerryAnnSinglemas · 13/12/2007 13:15

ok hairyirene, what was the result, I was wondering,so I have

MerryAnnSinglemas · 13/12/2007 13:16

it was scotch and threat, which I think means scotch with a threat of water in it, ie. a tiny drop - but might be wrong.
