she is leading him on. pretending she is a wonderful person. asking him to do things, endangering his life for her. when she has agreed to marry robin.
gisbourne isnt the baddy the sheriff is. or even allan the traitor. yet both robin and marian act so high and mighty on their pedestals.
yes i know its just a bit of escapist telly, but she is really really bothering me. with her two faced angelic face....... and gisbourne is good

But I think every historical drama has always echoed the fashions that are current when it's made, iyswim - you can always tell a programme that was made in the 1960s from one that was made in the 1980s.

SueBaRoomForAMincePie · 10/12/2007 21:53

LittleSleighBella - I fight it too, but it's not working!! [sulky-self-hatred emoticon]

JackieNoel, yes, there is a certain element of each era that will creep in, but the BBC can do this sort of thing so well. Pride & Prejudice and Jane Eyre were good examples.

As opposed to that dreadful Keira Knightley version of P&P, I mean what were they thinking with the hairstyles and they had bodices from one century on skirts from another, and..

LittleSleighBellasRinging · 10/12/2007 21:53

Yes and no-one ever beat Michael Praed in the eighties.

SueBaRoomForAMincePie · 10/12/2007 22:02

I quite liked Cary Elwes, actually...

And Richard Armitage and Alan Rickman together - black leather evil marvellousness. I think I need a shower now...

LittleSleighBellasRinging · 10/12/2007 22:11

Cary Elwes? Who he?

Overrun · 12/12/2007 17:23

Hilarious I think that although gisbourne is undeniably hot (although not as hot as he was in (North and South), he is weak.

So he may not be out and out evil, but he is just too weak to deserve the heroine....

pukkapatch · 12/12/2007 22:25

yes, but we dont think much of the heroine.

Gisbourne is hotter than hot in a Heathcliff kind of way. Why he would waste his time chasing after that little madam I don't know.

cornsilk · 12/12/2007 22:36

She's a bit too smug for my liking.

expatinscotland · 12/12/2007 22:37

Robin's a eunuch.

Gisbourne's all man.

Mmmmm.

I'd have already been pregnant with his baby.

saltirehangingonachristmastree · 13/12/2007 08:02

Agree with you there Exxpat. He's the only reason i watch the show - all that whispering and black leather. I got DS2 some Robin hood toys for his birthday (January), and got him Robin Hood, and Guy! Pity tehy don't make them lifesize

ernest · 13/12/2007 09:09

Marion bothers me a lot. So just a couple of episodes ago the gorgeous Guy urges marion to save herself and leave the castle cos the sheriff will kill her as it was her hairslide/cut throat dagger used by her dad to kill the gaoler (Did Guy not wonder why marion had a cut-throat-hairslide?) Then she's in the forest with Robin, then he risks life and limb to 'rescue' her, and loa and behold, back in the castle without a word. hmmmmm.

Robin's hair is stupid, his voice is irritating. Goy is growing on me. Will isn't too bad either.

SueBaRoomForAMincePie · 13/12/2007 11:02

LittleSleighBella - Cary Elwes was in Robin Hood: Men in Tights, a truly dreadful film (Oh, Mel Brooks, what made you stop being funny!) but containing a wickedly naughty line - Cary Elwes looking directly at the camera and saying "And, unlike some Robin Hood's, I can do an English accent..."

LittleSleighBellasRinging · 14/12/2007 20:58

Oh yes call me childish but I LIKED that Robin Hood

Yes funnily enough Guy is less sexy this series because he is squishy squashy flippy floppy weak; whihc is making Robin look more attractive (and of course he's a bit older this year!)

expatinscotland · 14/12/2007 21:00

It's definitely the leatha, salty!

And he's got that tall, lanky physique I love.

Swoon.

He's just hot, hot, hot.

DD1 is in love with Robin Hood and DH lusts after Marian so it's one of our fav shows .

bossybritches · 15/12/2007 13:18

Yes I wonder how many of the families viewing it do so with a lustful mother in the background?????

"Of course I'll cuddle up on the sofa & watch it with you darling- let me just get my glass of wine....!"

SueBaRoomForAMincePie · 15/12/2007 14:15

expat, tall, lanky physique? You try to mask your affection for David Tennant, but it still leaks out!

LittleSleighBellasRinging · 15/12/2007 17:14

LOL not long to go now.

Looking forward to some... ahem... quality family time in front of Robin Hood.

Captain Jack Sparrow serves the same socially praiseworthy function. So good that they are so keen on promoting family bonding nowadays...

saltirehangingonachristmastree · 15/12/2007 22:38

See - I said he was good, he saved Marian again. She doesn't deserve it.

roisin · 15/12/2007 22:48

Nah - she does not deserve him.
She's just a trollop. The boys and I were all screaming at the telly tonight telling him to hang her

MerryPIFFLEmas · 15/12/2007 22:49

Robin or Guy

Stupid biatch

Krimble · 15/12/2007 22:50

I didn't think marion had to go back to gisborne after they got out the tree the last time, OK I saw the reason when her dad was alive but not now, she wants the comfy bed and the frolic in the woods. Cake and eat it me thinks. She has buggered it up now though.

expatinscotland · 15/12/2007 22:54

Guy just gets hotter and hotter.

David Tennant as Dr. Who is the dry boak.

He should stand up for his real voice, which is lovely!

bossybaublesinherbritches · 16/12/2007 00:27

I wouldn't throw him out of bed for eating crackers...........

expatinscotland · 16/12/2007 00:35

i want to have his babies.
