Recently found on catch up. How is anyone supposed to win these? The rules seem to be they have make contact with family and friends. But soon as they do they ping the phone and find them or have actually recordings of conversation “pick me up at Asda at 6pm” You can’t win can you? You also can’t just spent a month camping in Wilds as you have make contact. Please someone explain !

I got excited there thinking a new series was starting. I love it.

Leftphalange · 24/09/2021 21:22

It was better in the earlier seasons when there were less rules, I remember thinking the most recent season was setting them up to fail.

CovidCorvid · 24/09/2021 21:23

The first series seemed not as weighted against the runners. More believable. As the series went on they got worse, to the extent where I was beginning to think it’s all a set up. They can’t get access to cctv like they reckoned they could. The hunted are charging round with a camera man following them but reckon they’re being all inconspicuous, etc. I don’t remember there been a rule saying they had to make contact…maybe they introduced that after I gave up. The series where they introduced the drones infuriated me.

2cutiepies · 24/09/2021 21:25

We’re did you find it please? I love it!

2cutiepies · 24/09/2021 21:25

Where!

Akire · 24/09/2021 21:25

I think on channel 5 catch up

Yeah its all staged. They must actually know where they all are, if nothing more than to keep the camera persons battery charged up!
The fact that they all end up contacting family and giving the game away, is pretty annoying. But I suppose it would be boring if they just got a tent and went wild camping for 3 weeks. I think the rules state that they have to move on every 48 hours or something.
All the CCTV is fabricated because they can't get real footage, and even if they could it would be really obvious because they have a guy with a massive camera following them around.
BUT if you can suspend disbelief, its good fun.

Namechangeforthis88 · 24/09/2021 21:31

I love this program. DH hates because (a) someone he used to work with is one of the hunters and apparently was just a big standard copper and (b) it takes him days of actual police work to get CCTV footage. Usually the people responsible for the CCTV don't know to use the system.

Namechangeforthis88 · 24/09/2021 21:50

Bog standard copper.

BrimFullOfAsher · 24/09/2021 22:16

@HungryHippo11 obviously the production company will be able to keep a track of the runners but the hunters don't know where they are.

And as for contacting someone, I don't know if it's a rule that they have to, but the premise is that you've just committed an unplanned crime and immediately gone on the run - it's pretty likely that you would be making contact with someone you know for help at some point within 4 weeks

Akire · 24/09/2021 22:21

Why does no one post a letter any more? Be there in 18h time. That’s on my list if I’m ever on the run.

CarolynMartens · 24/09/2021 22:38

I know this used to bug me so much! It’s so stacked against them. I wish they’d just do it fairly, it’d be really interesting to see.

Voice0fReason · 24/09/2021 22:56

I loved series 1.

Everything since then has declined further and further into complete garbage. I gave up watching.

It's so contrived and so obvious that they decide who is going to win in advance. They can decide whenever they want to find them on CCTV, listen to every phone conversation, read every text message, have total access to everyone's social media.

They know where everyone is all the time - they all have a camera crew with them all the time! They hardly blend in.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 25/09/2021 14:38

Watch some of the early ones. They are much better.

samecrapdifferentname · 25/09/2021 14:42

They intercept the post.

If you haven't yet; watch the series with a guy called Nick Cummings on it. I pretty much stopped watching it after that series as I didn't think it could ever be as good again.

samecrapdifferentname · 25/09/2021 14:45

Nick Cummings was series 2.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 25/09/2021 14:47

Yes the nick cummings one is the best ever.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 25/09/2021 14:54

So true about the later series looking and feeling rigged. I think there were complaints about the last 2 series.

omargard · 25/09/2021 15:02

I think it started off well in the early series when the participants got an hour's notice and left from their own house. When they changed it to dropping them all in a city centre full of cctv it became virtually impossible, and the last series was crap.

CovidCorvid · 25/09/2021 15:52

Also am I remembering this right….the first one or two they just had to not be caught for the duration….but I don’t think there was a set place rendezvous like in later series. I think this also makes it near impossible for the hunted.

BrimFullOfAsher · 25/09/2021 21:09

The Hunters don't know the rendezvous point though, they only found the one in Birmingham so soon because one of the fugitives had written Birmingham in a notepad and was caught 🤦‍♂️

They're filming Celeb Hunted now anyway so new series should be soon

Leftphalange · 25/09/2021 21:21

I don't think it's fair that the end point is the same for everyone. If one person mucks up it ruins everyone else's chances also.
