Home and Away thread: everyone to Salt for one of Ryder's cocktails

1000 replies

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 17/09/2021 07:23

New thread here so that we can continue discussing everything important in the Bay: who is hotter - new police officer or potential new doctor? Will new doctor BE new doctor or was that brief superhero moment all we get?

Will Tori and Christian ever get married and by now, how many of us really care? And what next for the Tane/Ziggy/Dean triangle?

Grab a seat, place your cocktail orders, hope that Annoying Chloe doesn't show up, and get chatting!

Really feel for Ziggy. I had post natal anxiety after first and pnd after my second. It's hell.
And are they not allowed to use new babies on the set? As that baby must be at least 4 months old.

EBearhug · 05/04/2023 01:53

Ziggy - struggling new mum, but perfect hair and make-up.

Eden - ages in a coma, yet perfect make-up.

I'm not sure why this is bothering me beyond everything else that happens in Summer Bay...

SleepingStandingUp · 05/04/2023 06:49

I assume there a rule I nAus about babies, I think Asta in Neighbours was smaller but also seen less. Tori's baby also spent a lot of time in the sun under a blanket in the buggy

LoveMyPiano · 05/04/2023 09:11

I think that there sometimes is not even a baby under the blanket!
(I was reading recently how it is not good to cover them like that, creates poor air or something....)

The breastfeeding to formula switch seemed very easy.

And she's already being left with random people (TV babies!) but as she now looks closer to six months than the one that she is, or even less, maybe it's OK.

SleepingStandingUp · 05/04/2023 17:39

There's never a baby under. They just pop one under if they're going to do an unveiling. Keeps their hours down. But yes, it's always got me that they show parents covering them yet in England it's a big no. They always go straight into a nursery too

Yes, that's what I more or less surmised, and makes sense of course...
But using the blanket cover method, they are showing poor/unhealthy practice.

I have thought about this far too much.
Cute baby though.

*babies … weren’t there like 8 different babies for Grace in the day?

Yeah, there's a fair few for Zigs baby too. Not watched all week as I away.

Change of subject (although agree that's one huge and physically advanced newborn!)

Felicity and her trauma - ptsd I assume. I like her character, I like Tane too and when it's great they are perfect but right now regardless of issues they aren't a match. But weirdly I want them hitched and married happily ever after 🤷🏼‍♀️

I feel so sorry for Tane in this though; he looks so hurt whenever she (understandably - mostly) goes off.
Straying from this topic as well..... Do they ever use full names of they have more than one syllable? For example - the new baby - Isabella.... and immediately, Dean said "Bella" (I think).
Some of the names have been shortened to just the first letter - was Tori (itself shortened) once shortened to T, I seem to remember?

AiryFairy1 · 08/04/2023 07:00

I’m affectionately generalising here, but Aussies do love a nickname - names are frequently lengthened or shortened 😅

1 syllable Dean becomes Deano, John Palmer is sometimes JP, Ziggy becomes Zig… Izzy is cute 🥰

PurplePetalPip · 08/04/2023 13:18

Yes! Aussies seem to have nicknames for everyone and everything! My favourites from 35 years of watching H&A and Neighbours are tinnies, pokies and firies.

Rummikub · 08/04/2023 14:14

What’s a pokie?

Firies= firefighter?

Yes I du remember Tori being shortened to T.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 08/04/2023 18:17

Pokie is a slot machine in Aus/NZ. Urban Dictionary says it means something quite different in our slang 😂

I was interested that they have ‘bikies’ where we would have bikers.

How old is Ava meant to be ? She’s transformed into an actress who is a lot older
she’s going to be I heart Theo isn’t she..?

I thought she might be the Doughnut-sender.

Yes, Izzy, not Bella (just had one of those - and wasn't she shortened to Bells?).

😂😂yes I imagine so!

Sanger for sandwich? I thought it was sausage. Aren’t they snags?

I'm thinking it even more now....
The googoo heart eyes are so obvious!
😍

CurbsideProphet · 12/04/2023 08:22

I'm only in and out of H&A right now, but how on earth is Ava a teenager already?!

Yep I thought that as soon as she turned up at the garage. Also her Mum is upset she has a boyfriend online... her sending a ton of messages to Theo. Unless they're trying to make us think that and throw us off the scent. I may be overthinking this 😅

Rummikub · 14/04/2023 11:36

She has the scrap/ photo book With lots of pics of Theo. She added the pic of her, Theo and taped over Kirby.

SleepingStandingUp · 14/04/2023 11:39

I'm surprised he had no idea who she was when she said Ava, and she's there at the garage.

LoveMyPiano · 14/04/2023 11:54

It's so obvious - and I think Kirby senses what's happening anyway. As usual, the target of affection is oblivious/enjoying the attention (are they related somehow?)/sees it as innocent. (and her father is too focussed on other aspects and believing that there is an actual o/l boyfriend).
I don't think the writers are trying to mislead, it is a predictable storyline. And will not end well.

strugglingwithlife · 14/04/2023 19:15

Alf is even more grumpy then usual lately, he makes me laugh though sometimes.
Ziggy soon got over her struggles, a sleep in a car and a chat with Irene and everything is fine. If only it was that simple
