How much credit does Daniil deserve? All of it! He bloody won .

He is doing a bit better this set- but it's probably too little too late.

My Prime is having a wobble- but I've just seen Sinner has taken the second set - that's a turnaround. I can only imagine that whoever is commentating probably had him in the locker room ages ago ! .

Im watching the darts because Fallon Sherrock is playing to get into the quarter finals.

I missed the end of the tennis (fell asleep ) but considering the first set, Sinner certainly did well to turn things around and the last set was was close indeed. I'm glad they were able to provide a good match for the Italian crowds in the end. I bet it was noisy!

Well that was a bit of an upset-ish - the Ruud/Rublev match( although it was a match where either could go through to the semi). I think on paper Rublev is the more experienced, but Casper did well to turn it round after the first set.

I missed the 3rd set- I must admit I expected Andrey to take it.

We went to see the King Richard film - it was OK - I would probably wait until it comes on telly instead of rushing out to the cinema to see it . Who knew that Arantxa Sanchez Vicario would be the villain of the piece or that toilet breaks were such an issue even all those years ago

I've just read that about the Australian Open fizzy. Apparently, about 80 of the top 100 are vaccinated on the men's side but no figures for the women. Surely that means that those who are currently completely unvaccinated can't compete because they can't get two jabs in the time left before travelling to Australia? If I find out that Djok has been vaccinated and has just been playing games by refusing to reveal his status, I won't be happy!

Glad you enjoyed the film Fizzy. I can't quite imagine Will Smith as Richard, but I will wait for it to be on tv .

The Aussies need to come out with a definitive statement- everyone, PM, state governor, tournament heads- and there can be no pussy footing around. I still think it gives out the wrong message, after everything the people of Melbourne have had to put up with, to make allowances for sports people, over Joe Public. If players want to keep their vaccine status private- up to them, but it suggests they haven't had it done, so they don't play.

Djok is all about titles - he wants number 21. Federer isn't going to get that any time soon, if ever- he's ruled out of Australia, has said this week he probably won't play Wimbledon. (RG not even a factor).
Much as I want Rafa to get his second title in Melbourne- I'm not sure he will be a contender, but i will be happy to see him at least play. This foot injury/surgery situation seems to have been different to some of the other lay-off he has had- and everyone around him is being very cautious.

So, what I am in a waffly way saying, is- although Djok wants to win- he might see skipping Australia as not detrimental to going ahead of Roger or Rafa. He will lose ranking points- and then the door is open for Daniil. But he is so far ahead in weeks at number , he can keep that record for now .

kazza Daniela Hantuchova is convinced Djok has had the vaccine. Not sure why she is so sure. He was so against it, and so vocal about it, I would be surprised if he did get it done. As you say, he's a master of mindgames, wouldn't put anything past him really.

It shouldn't stop at Australia though- but that ship has sailed, and players have been going all over the place, vaccine status unknown.

kazza Arantxa was losing against a young Venus so went for a very long bathroom break and ended up winning the match!

I’m not sure about Djok either Raahh - I hope he isn’t allowed to claim that he’s had some weird alternative vaccine from his magic fig tree! I hope the AO stand firm on this one. Vaccines seem to be being taken more seriously in a lot of countries eg Austria so not sure if other countries will follow?

It’s good that the Peng Shuai story is still being reported on but very worrying that she hasn’t really been seen recently - hope she’s ok

I’m not sure if Roger will come back now which would be a bit of a sad end to his career. I think Rafa is planning to come back before AO but not sure how he will be with his foot and being out of the game for so long - I do miss him but know he can’t go on playing forever

Talking of vaccines- I had my Covid booster yesterday, and my arm is really quite sore. Didn't happen the last times. I've only ever had a reaction with tetanus jabs and the pneumonia one- and they weren't this sore.
Both my shoulders are stuffed now- I can barely move my right anyway, and am waiting for physio. And now I can hardly move my left .

Other than that though I feel ok- dh was ill for days after (but he already had a cold anyway!).

I have suspicions that Djok will say he's had it- and we will only really have his word for it. Can you test to see if someone has had the vaccine?

The Medvedev /Ruud match has started- I think Daniil will probably take this. The crowd are already quite vocal.

I agree that it seems unlikely that we will see Federer again at a grand slam. I really hope I am wrong!

The Peng Shuai situation is very scary and I also hope she is OK. It’s good that the WTA are pressing for answers, I hope they don’t let it go.
