Excuse my ignorance but I've just had a look at the Next Gen scores/results. Trying to work out the scoring! Is it best of 5 sets, but a set is first to 4 games, with a tie break at 3-3, if required?

I don't get the scoring either, Kazza. And one of the tie breaks in the Alcaraz/Rune match was 8-6 - but 7-3 in the Cerundolo/Nakashima match so that confused me further.

Why do they have to play around with stuff all the time? If it ain't broke, don't fix it! If they think new fans won't want to sit through an ordinary 5 set match, shorten it to a 3 setter with the proper number of games per set, ffs

kazza I'm quite happy to sit through proper lengthy 5 set thrillers- I've not interest in shortened formats, which I know the likes of Petch are always banging on about.
I get confused enough with all the different 5th set tie break options in the slams .

The time is coming when all matches (in the men's game) will be limited to an hour though, I'm sure- and the the sport will be poorer for it, imo.
