I think Sascha might have the slight edge at the moment, although I want Daniil to have the chance to maybe get the year end number one. It's a long shot- and it will go to the wire- but if he beats Djok tomorrow he is still in with a shot. I think. it's all to do with maths .

Ignore that, winning today means he has already got the year end number 1, doesn't it

Need to make sure he doesn't win the tour finals though!

I can never keep up with the stats. I do not have a mathematical mind!

Jane I love a good stat- but I read all the different mathematical scenarios for this week that could stop Djok getting to number 1- and it hurt my head..

It was always going to be a long shot, for Daniil to go ahead of him this year- once he blew his chances in IW. If he had won that, it would have been closer (and Djok would have probably entered some random tournaments to make the points up, like last year ).

Of course- fingers crossed- Djok won't get to go to Australia, and then he will lose a bunch of points. There had better be no special rules arranged /points freezes again. They've done enough of that.

But Daniil was the losing finalist- so he will probably need to win it for it to make a difference (and if Rafa comes back, I really want him to win it- which I know is a big ask ).

I wonder how Rafa's recovery is going. Domi seems to be doing well, looking forward to seeing him back and I hope Stan will be back too it's going to be hard for them to keep up with all the younger players now

Hopefully Daniil will be very ready for tomorrow, and Djok will have a wobble and memories of the US Open will haunt him .

Keeping my fingers crossed that Medvedev can beat Djok again tomorrow. I know Djok will still be number 1 but will be nice to have the shine taken off that with another final loss!

Djok has only beaten Daniil on Australian soil courts since the start of 2019- so that could be a good omen.

And- just because I do like a stat, today, Daniil made it 5-5 in his hth with Sascha too

I was watching the doubles. I do love watching Mahut. He will be a player I will miss when he retires- which I'm sure he threatened to do a couple of years back! Unfortunately, he has lost the first set with PHH, but I do like the matching kit (Catherine mentioned it before the match, and I hadn't really registered that very few doubles pairs do tend to 'match' kits.).
