Starts tomorrow at Farrell plays Henry Drax in the drama, a harpooner and brutish killer whose amorality has been shaped to fit the harshness of his world, who will set sail on a whaling expedition to the Arctic with Patrick Sumner, a disgraced ex-army surgeon who signs up as the ship’s doctor.

Hoping to escape the horrors of his past, Sumner finds himself on an ill-fated journey with a murderous psychopath. In search of redemption, his story becomes a harsh struggle for survival in the Arctic wasteland."[1]

In Hull, 1859, Patrick Sumner, a cashiered Irish army surgeon boards the whaling ship Volunteer as its ships surgeon under Captain Brownlee.

He becomes acquainted with the rest of the crew, including the vulgar first mate Cavendish, whalers Jones, Otto and the especially thuggish and murderous harpooner Henry Drax.

Working with the ship's financier and whaling company head Baxter in an insurance scam

Ah, can I join? Watched episodes 1 and 2 yesterday and today, absolutely gripped , so will go live tomorrow. Can I just add that I superficially put this on as I have always had the Hugest crush on Colin Farrell but am disappointed at how unhot and nasty he is in this!

Pumpkinstace · 23/09/2021 23:06

Godless is an absolute masterpiece.

Good story, excellent acting and the whole thing is just beautiful to look at.

I was mesmerised

I won't spoil but I've finished the series - it was a great watch. I've never really thought of Colin Farrell as a great actor tbh, but he's brilliant in this.

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/10/2021 08:12

No one else watches Fridays ?

I did, @Blondeshavemorefun , but for the first time found myself wondering to give up on this. I can take a certain amount of misery, but the scenes where Patrick was on his polar bear hunt were hard watching! I'll probably watch the final episode, though. Do you think Otto is dead now?

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/10/2021 12:53

@Optimist1. U.K. not sure how much was in his head

Hopefully Otto ian tv dead

I need a timescale. How long are they there for

One more to go so I will watch next fri as went to know what happened

He's great in In Bruges. That's where I first noticed he can really act.
Optimist1 · 09/10/2021 08:34

I'm glad it's over. So many unanswered questions about Sumner, but I didn't care enough about him to worry about the answers.

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/10/2021 08:59

As it’s been on we can discuss

I just didn’t see him as a murderer

Tho drax to save his self but not the owner of ships

Then the ending didn’t make sense to me

Loved 1-4. 5 rubbish ending

recap e5

Who agree it’s a shit ending as we don’t really know what happened
