So she asked for an egg and tomato roll, then said “And I’ll have one of those.” What the heck was it, it looked very odd!

Can you describe it?

Onlinedilema · 29/08/2021 20:56

It looked like a cake with an apricot on top to me. Never had one and never seen one before.

CovidCorvid · 29/08/2021 20:59

Apricot cake is a thing. Sadly I’m only listening, not watching. So had come on to say egg roll. Grin

It looked like one of those peach melbas that you can get in Greggs.

RightOnTheEdge · 29/08/2021 21:10

Peach melba?

Ooohh could be the peach melba thing, but looked a bit smaller and the top was a bit higher, more egg shaped.

Yes Dh and I both asked the same thing! Did look like the peach melba thing.

Clawdy · 29/08/2021 22:19

It was probably Peach Melba, yes, but Vera's looked a really deep yellow! The egg and tomato roll sounded nice, not seen that combination for a while.

RightOnTheEdge · 29/08/2021 22:23

My mum said when I was little we lived in Newcastle and there was a bakery that sold them but they were pineapple not peach. Maybe it was something like that.

Cassimin · 29/08/2021 22:45

Before seeing this post I actually googled to see if o could find it.
I think it’s a Scottish pineapple tart

AdditionalCharacter · 29/08/2021 22:50

Vera is filmed in the NE so it'll be a peach melba. They are a Greggs speciality, although they've stopped making them recently.

Ellabella222 · 29/08/2021 22:51

Bloody used to live a peach melba.

Clawdy · 29/08/2021 22:52

Here it is- Peach Melba.

Vera - what the heck did she just order in the cafe?!
Hellocatshome · 29/08/2021 22:53

It was a Peach Melba, if she wanted to be authentic she should have asked for a seaside sandwich not an egg and tomato roll.

BluebelllsRosesDaffodills · 29/08/2021 22:58

What is a seaside sandwich?

thecatfromjapan · 29/08/2021 22:59

I've never seen one of those in our Greggs! 😮

Cocolapew · 29/08/2021 23:01

@BluebelllsRosesDaffodills

What is a seaside sandwich?
I presume an egg and tomato bap..
Hellocatshome · 29/08/2021 23:01

What is a seaside sandwich? Egg and tomato but its called a seaside sandwich in the North East (not in places like Greg's but in little cafes like that one they would call it a seaside sandwich)

Cocolapew · 29/08/2021 23:03

What exactly is the peach melba? What was the yellow stuff on top? She was making a right pigs ear of eating it anyway Grin

Hellocatshome · 29/08/2021 23:04

She was making a right pigs ear of eating it anyway

There is absolutely no way to eat them without making a pigs ear out of it.

Footle · 29/08/2021 23:06

I think I must have nodded off around then.

She should have used a spoon Grin
Hellocatshome · 29/08/2021 23:09

She should have used a spoon

I bet you are the kind of wimp who would use a plate with a savoury dip as well aren't you Grin

Cocolapew · 29/08/2021 23:12

I eat all buns and cake with a teaspoon Halo
It makes them last longer .
