I slightly wondered, what if he is genuine and does like her but struggles to express his emotions. I’ve always struggled to express mine and compliment people aloud. I think that stems from not having praise as a child though
I said a while back on this thread or the previous one that I rewatched the reconciliation post Casa Amor. Jake was visibly thrilled and relieved to be back with Lib. So I do think he has genuine feelings for her albeit he is also a game player.
The most logical explanation would be that he’s really rather thick and is trying far too hard to control everything and his bizarre behaviour more likely a result of him putting himself and consequently Lib under a vast amount of pressure. That said, his body language when they sit together on the bar stools, square in to the table when Lib angles herself toward him at best shows he lacks emotional intelligence and quite probably that she’s into him more than he’s into her.
I also never received praise as a child and used to, to some extent still struggle with giving and receiving compliments. I needed a lot of therapy to identify how I was even feeling. So I can totally relate to your comment.
So what if he has genuine feelings for her?! I think the hate is way off the scale. For him as well as Faye. At the end of the day, we are all animals with a higher level of consciousness than any other animal. Now in my 50’s I can categorically state I would hate to be caged with others 24/7 but would I have known this in my early 20’s? And how would I at that age, with a distinct lack of emotional intelligence (remember I needed extensive therapy), have acted and reacted? I can say without a doubt I would have become a steaming wreck at one stage or another.
