I love these threads and don't think I've criticised anyone's appearance once. Maybe might have made a comment about being tired of the sight of Faye's chest ... but who could argue with that?

I do get so very tired of every criticism of a black person being labelled as racist.

I don’t think Kaz is awful because she’s black. I think she’s awful because she’s awful.

FWIW I also think Faye is awful. And since she clearly has no qualms about making cutting remarks about other people’s appearance, commenting on hers is fair game.

I feel sure they are going to air more, if not all, of the videos. So there will be more hurt feelings inflicted. The producers might pretend that gives some notion of balance in terms of the impact on the different couples. It's pretty cruel.

When Tyler got into the house Kaz had been single for a few days, whereas Mike saw Kaz crying over Tyler and the next minute he is kissing her.
She was vulnerable in terms of she was clearly heart broken and was looking for anyone.
He knew she was still into Tyler and that he was possibly a rebound.
He didn’t have to sulk or demand to be told first, she didn’t owe him anything other than they will see how it goes.
The racial undertones is she follows the same trajectory many black women in reality TV experience. They are well liked until they do something wrong and they become the most hated person on TV.
Black women aren’t often given the same leeway as for example Faye.

It'll be a bit of a let down if we don't see any more clips as there is plenty of potential in showing some unseen bits.

However, the editors may drop the rest of the clips in favour of the clear drama between Faye and Teddy, in order to fit everything into one show.

As for the movie night, it's cruel and questionable, but I've also been dying for them to see how Jake rallied all the boys to cheat at CA. That clip of him twisting Liam's arm is especially illuminating.

But that's what I don't get. They didn't show that clip (that would have affected Jake) but one that just upset Liberty :(

They showed the clip the girls chose. Followed by the clip the boys chose. Unless the producers told them which clips to pick (which is entirely possible).

Over in Twitter lots of people standing up for Kaz and shouting that it’s racism that people have turned against her. Totally wrong as she was a firm favourite for a long time for many. Her crappy behaviour is nothing to do with the colour of her skin

I agree that Kaz has behaved badly and didn't show Matt the same respect she demanded from Toby. However, the language used about her on this thread had been appalling. There are clear double standards shown with how Kaz is talked about when compared to other islanders such as Faye.

The same applies to how some posters talk about how Kaz speaks and how Lucinda speaks. Both were talked about negatively but there was far more vitriol directed at Kaz.

There's definitely unconscious bias at work.

Anyway, I missed the vote but would have voted for Kaz and Tyler as I'd like to see how their relationship pans out and if Tyler has his head turned again (probably).

Oh come on- have you read the stuff about MANY of the others- Danny/ Lucinda/ Tyler/ Hugo in particular. I cannot stand this constant diatribe about how it is to do with colour.

I actually think Toby might win. Despite his to-ing and fro-ing he's always been honest with the girls I think. He genuinely looked mortified when he got back from CA and saw that Abi had remained single, I don't think he was expecting that as they were only giving it a go for a day or so. It seems to have grown up a lot in there, and i also agree that it was mature to say actually we had our differences but hugo was a good guy. Looking back at his VT is quite funny though where he says he doesn't seem to usually know what he wants!

Liberty and Jake I did like liberty but now find her boring and dull (probably to do with her coupling up so early with Jake)
Millie and Liam, Millie is ok but don’t like Liam
Kaz and Tyler, want them both gone at the next opportunity

Same. He’s a bit of a doofus at times, but basically not a bad person. The fun stuff between him and Chloe and the general silliness is what I’m here for. On the other hand watching Faye pick apart Teddy and generally disregard his feelings is a hard watch. Not entertainment for me.

And what about that speech when she recoupled with Matt, talking up trust as being so important. In retrospect that can only have been a strategic move to get at Tyler because she sure as hell wasn't being trustworthy with Matt

I think Kaz has just shown her true colours. However for me I was shocked at Faye last night. Her laughing when Teddy was clearly embarrassed was awful and one of the girls did a really loud shriek in laughter. her laughing might have been a front for her embarrassment but it shows how incredibly emotionally immature she is. She would rather front it out rather than say sorry and those are the worst people.

I said yesterday that she would end up chipping Teddy down and probably really fucking with his head and last nights episode proved it. She might feel like she has been shit on in the past but she is actually a very toxic person herself.

We are in a day and age where literally everything is taken completely OTT, blown out of proportion and taken racially offensive. People haven't been singling out Kaz for being annoying or rude just because she is black... Faye, Lucinder, Chloe and all the other people mentioned in this thread are also by posters who have commented on Kaz, so there's no singling her out.

I must state that I am white and IMO I think Kaz is very beautiful but she's also annoying and has her faults but I shouldn't be called racist because I have voiced my opinion on her in a thread which is full of other people's opinions. I also think Faye is vile sometimes and I find Lucinders voice grating - I'm sure plenty different ethnics have been commenting on the white girls in the villa but are not being called out for being racist against white people anywhere...
I'm very aware there are ignorant and small minded racist people out there unfortunately (like the disgusting people who put monkey emojis on Kazs IG for example)... but bear in mind racism does exist in every race it's not solely the white race that can have racist people.
I also understand not everyone intends to come across racist, I opened my TikTok this morning and the first video I saw was 3 black guys dancing to the white girl dance trend, I don't think they were intending to be racist at all they are just having a laugh and to be quite honest I thought they were pretty spot on haha 🤣 It tickled me actually but some people would take massive offence.

Anywho - This is an open thread for LI enthusiasts and yes we are all guilty for commenting on people's appearances and actions etc because let's face it we are predominantly a female group and bitching is what we do best as well as gossiping lol a lot of it is light hearted so please can we all stop taking offence to who's being mentioned and please don't take it personally. I think Kaz has an idea that she is the Public's darling - because she has done well in the votes and when a new guy comes in, the public have voted for her to go on dates. Almost like she can do no wrong, and thinks everyone will be cheering her on for 'getting her man back'.

I think Tyler probably thinks Kaz is a ticket to the final in the same way and is doing the bad boy come good routine (which Liam is also familiar with).

The way Matt and Clarisse have been treated by this pair is appalling - like they are extras in their Romantic Comedy or something. It is like they should be grateful that they were chosen at all.

I sincerely hope they are both in the bottom of the next vote, they need a rude awakening.

Completely agree.

I think the jake clip actually gives him a good chance to actually say how he feels for once, he seems to enjoy liberty complimenting him but we don't see much of the opposite (although of course we might just not be seeing it). As it was early days I think she's probably still gutted as it's hard to hear, but will hopefully be okay if he holds his hands up and owns in and reassures her about how he feels now.

I have a relative like Faye, can confirm she is absolutely exhausting. Her ex was a bit like Teddy, he thought that if he was gentle with her and chilled she would be 'cured' of her defensiveness- but she just walked all over him, partly unintentionally. Her husband now treats her well, but also doesn't just let her rage and then say aw it's okay, they have boundaries between them which took some work. Ultimately I don't think they're a good match, no matter how much they like each other. But time will tell.

Tyler seems to bring the worst out of kaz, I know her actions are her own choice and all of that, but if he had gone home the other night I think it would have been good for her in the end.

I like millie but don't see them lasting on the outside, he has told her via his actions that he doesn't want to commit (don't blame him at 21 to be fair), he will be going wild at the club appearances and with his new found 'fame'

Because I was stuck at home with not much to do this morning I searched for the word bitch on the Love Island threads and it has been said about Faye far more times than it has about Kaz. One poster said the same about both! Posters certainly were asked not to use the b word about Kaz.

Hopefully we can try to be more mindful of our language moving forwards, and focus on the drama yet to come!
