Surely its not just me addicted?😃 shes amazing really what shes achieved after coming out of an ultra orthodox life. She seems to have gone the complete opposite. Its interesting and trashy at the same time, right up my street😂

What’s the odds of the older son ending up with a model on their books? I haven’t seen it all yet so I could be wrong.

I'm fascinated but I think she's awful.

Her awfulness is most like due to her background of course. But she really needs to lay off being so controlling - it's her way (decorated with vibrators) or it's wrong.- being controlled is what she ran from so it's sad to see her controlling her family.

The son in law seems to be trying. Obviously he's slower than his wife. The change in life doesn't benefit him as much does it. But from what I've seen so far Bat and Ben have a good relationship.

It's very staged and scripted isn't it!!

Small things - her sister's daughters has shorter skirts on than she made out was allowed. The woman she was gave a make over to didn't arrive looked that covered either.

Also, not sure when it was filmed (but seeing some wearing mask I'm going with 2020) and I had a nose on Twiter and there's something about Bat wearing trousers on Instagram- so before the whole "Ben won't let me wear pamts".

Im still fascinated though - would like to know more about how she got from having nothing and uneducated to being CEO and mega rich in a few years though!!

jay55 · 20/07/2021 12:37

I did wonder if the sister had married someone more moderate, hence her kids doing tiktoks and seeming like regular kids. And also why their relationship has been maintained.

But agree the ex-husband didn't seem extreme at all and can't help but wonder if they ever communicated before the divorce, or if they just automatically did as their parents expected.

jay55 · 20/07/2021 12:39

Oh and @LavenderAskew agree about how controlling she is, Batsheva is similar towards Miriam.

EachandEveryone · 20/07/2021 13:43

Does it tell you anything about how she left? All I’ve ever read about these situations is that the father keeps the children that’s what makes it so hard for the woman to leave. And also they leave when no one is looking and rely on charity of others to help them. I don’t think her marriage and life could’ve been that strict but I’m only thinking that because it hasn’t come out yet.

Also what’s Bats husbands family got to say about all this?

Dontjudgeme101 · 20/07/2021 13:50

I just love watching this series. I am so sad that it has finished. So we have to wait until next year to read her book. Julia is amazing. Her husband Silvio, is such a lovely man, he must at times get frustrated with Julia, as she’s a workaholic!

I am not keen on Ben at all. I can’t believe that he broke Bat’s phone.

LavenderAskew · 20/07/2021 13:51

Yes, she (Batsheva) is. Differently so - it's more from a disbelief she's (Mariam) doesn't have any religious beliefs and will really come back to it Mind you I'd agree with Bat about snogging at a small gathering with your bosses there 😉

Whereas Julia wants everyone to behave and think like her (Justifies her choices maybe?) She needs them all to live thier lives as she dictates. Not just her family either I mean look at how

She got a matchmaker for Robert without asking and then thought he was ridiculous when he said he wasn't interested

Im not that convinced her life was as horrific as she's making out, well obviously it was deeply controlled, but in the sense I think she's exaggerating how abusive it was. She had to have left with something. You can't start a shoe company from nothing. As for getting to be CEO- that's off the back of her now husband it seems.

MrsBonnie · 20/07/2021 14:00

@daisyducky she married Silvio, and he is the owner/ founder of the Elite group Grin I wonder how she got there so fast… Hmm

I’m not saying she isn’t talented or worked hard, but she got the leg up of all leg ups it seems.

MrsBonnie · 20/07/2021 14:01

I feel sorry for Ben who so badly wants to have kids. If the tables were turned I think we’d have sympathy for Bat. Hopefully they can come to an agreement and compromise Smile

MrsBonnie · 20/07/2021 14:02

“When you have kids your life is over”. Julia is a bitch at times!

MrsBonnie · 20/07/2021 14:20

Ok last comment I promise 🤣 WHY do they all talk over each other?! Especially Ben can’t get a word in.

😂
Leg up of all leg ups!

It's totally fascinating. I've only one more episode to go. When you think you're done with reality tv then this comes along!

Only just watched that one. Sister is orthodox so not more moderate.

Also the woman who wanted to leave messaged Julia on Instagram and obviously had a mobile. Not really getting fundamentalist just orthodox.

EachandEveryone · 20/07/2021 20:20

Yes that what I said earlier they are Morden orthodox which isn’t anything like the ultra orthodox she seems to be making out she’s from the girl from Brooklyn was even sexually active no way was she from that Hasidic background

Some things which stuck out/pissed me off with the mother:
(Spoilers)

  • Telling her older daughter not to have kids until she was over 30
  • Buying vibrators for all and sundry
  • Pushing Robert to date when he clearly was/stated he wasn't ready yet (repeatedly)

Yes you dId!! I did actually read that originally but evidently forgot I when I posted - sorry!!

Few things that give away that there a lot of B.S, - I'm sure there was a bit where her BIL said something about people visiting her (before she left) and she spoke about shoes and fashion.

I'd love to know the truth about how she manage to set up a shoe business - well I say 'truth' but I suppose she hasn't lied seeing it's not really spoken about. Only mention was her staying in the 'most beautiful hotel in Paris' (so do we all agree that means €€€€ - where did that come from!) and managing to capture a Harrods contract.

Dontdripme · 21/07/2021 09:11

Love it , find it quite unbelievable how different her life is!

EachandEveryone · 22/07/2021 16:22

Ive finished it and loved it but there is no way she was as restricted as she makes oyut. Her ex is clearly modern orthodox so is the gf how else would she manage to run such a successful party business? Shes deffo exaggerating and has gone to the complete extreme. What is refreshing is that theres no arguments and slagging matches like in other reality shows.

I would be interested to see Bens family background and what they think of it all.

Ps nepotism at its finest😃 at least they seem to have had an education which is more than the dc of the housewives etc.

Newmummyinlockdown · 22/07/2021 16:56

Love this show!

Her new husband Silvio was the CEO of La Perla for many years, so it probably explains the huge leap from Orthodox Housewife to La Perla Director in six years!

EachandEveryone · 22/07/2021 17:15

Silvio is lovely and he doesnt seem to have any skeletons which is unusal. Whar were the chances of meeting a lovely billionaire with absolutely no baggage 😃

OP posts:
JustDanceAddict · 22/07/2021 17:32

I would love to know the ‘real’ story.

They were definitely not ultra-orthodox - it’s obvious. If you Google it says they were Yeshivish, so maybe a step up from MO, but not totally ultra (wearing the black hat etc 24/7).

Julia was massively controlling as others have said. And obviously wants the offspring in the business which will be another level of control.
I also thought Silvio got pissed off with Robert hanging around too much! But to get that matchmaker was really wrong of her.

I loved the younger son, Aaron. I hope he lives the life he wants to live.

Think he was married wen they met. Though I haven't studied the tome lines.so who knows!!

Thanks for filling the blank. It all feels so much less impressive now.
Justfivemoreminutesplease · 22/07/2021 18:59

Humm.. maybe I should go back and give it another go, as I watched the first episode and gave up. Likewise it didn’t all seem to add up about her past and it just struck me that they were all wanting to position themselves as the next reality tv replacements for the Kardashians.
I also didn’t get why one scene with the eldest daughter and her husband was filmed whilst they were in bed, with him with no top on. It just seemed really bizarre.
