What size tv do you have and how far away do you sit from the tv?

Looking at getting a new tv and visited a friends house who had a 65 inch OLED and it was mint the picture quality was amazing!

Interested to hear views and recommendations please 😀

50 inch and I sit about 2 -3 metres away.

LuckyLuckyWoman · 06/07/2021 22:56

55" sit 3-4 metres away. Could get away with bigger but would need to alter the layout of the room and I like it how it is

JovialNickname · 06/07/2021 22:59

A 42 inch that I bought with my first ever UC payment, last April when Covid hit. I know that makes me a terrible benefits cliche (and a potential subject of a channel 5 documentary) but I didn't have any television set at all before that, and given that it was the first lockdown and I live in one small room I thought sod it.

It looks ridiculous because there's literally only room for the telly and a bed but I still love it!! Its like living at the cinema Grin

BillyRaywasapreachersson · 06/07/2021 23:03

Without measuring I'd guess 32". It was a compromise when married, I wanted one which would fit in the alcove shelf, he wanted a mahoosive one. Much as I watch the TV, I hate the screen being a focus in the room.

MondeoFan · 06/07/2021 23:08

OLED and 75" it's massive but lovely quality.
We watch a lot of films from Netflix and Disney

MackieMayor · 06/07/2021 23:25

75", absolutely love it. Sit about four metres away.

Holothane · 07/07/2021 05:51

Wow 75 inch fabulous.

Wooolffff · 07/07/2021 05:56

55inch. Our sofa is about 3m away, though some chairs are closer or further. It’s the right size for the room.

Longdistance · 07/07/2021 05:59

My dm has a 65” tv. She’s 80 and complained she couldn’t see the tv. So my db bought her the biggest tv he could find. No complaints so far 😂
My tv is about 45”. Had it about 10 years. I’m surprised it’s lasted that long tbh. Dh is itching to get another.

Holothane · 07/07/2021 06:07

Love my 65 inch, best thing I ever brought it’s like being at the cinema,

geojellyfish · 07/07/2021 06:25

43" and we sit just over 3m from it, with some seats more like 4m. The TV is only a couple of years old, but we bought it before we moved and our new living room could definitely carry a bigger TV.

SupermanInk · 07/07/2021 06:40

We have 75” in the main sitting room and sofas are about 4metres away. The other rooms have 65” and also about 4m away.

TheatricalGiraffe · 07/07/2021 06:46

55 inch, sit maybe 2.5 metres away? Our living room isn't big enough to go back any further

Cavalierqueen · 07/07/2021 06:50

75 in living room and 65 in kitchen and bedrooms. But we live in corporate accommodation abroad which is quite big and accommodates.

rwalker · 07/07/2021 07:02

I work for one of the utilities in and out houses all day it's a joke will all engineers . Bigger the tele the rougher the people and the most tasteless the house.

The best was over 100 inch tele in small terrace house literally the size of the wall and sofa very close to it

hiredandsqueak · 07/07/2021 07:42

32 inch sit about eight feet away. My adult dc think it's pitiful but there is method in my madness as ds (at home) decamps to either his db's or df's house to watch sport on their big TVs instead Grin . I don't want a big TV, I rarely watch it and I don't want a TV that dominates the room. Ds (at home) has a 46 inch TV in his room so isn't hard done by by any stretch of the imagination.

Roselilly36 · 07/07/2021 07:44

42 inch, big enough for our lounge.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 07/07/2021 07:52

37in.

It was considered massive and fancy when we bought it...in 2010.

Lovely bit of snobbery there
BIoodyStupidJohnson · 07/07/2021 07:56

A 50” as the main TV, and I also have a 43” in another room but that’s mainly used for gaming these days.

I generally sit about three metres away. Any closer makes me feel a bit nauseous, personally.

RosesAndHellebores · 07/07/2021 08:02

Probably between 28" and 32". It's in the family room and the sofa/chairs are about 3 metres away. We have one TV. I am the only 9ne who watches it.

strawberrydonuts · 07/07/2021 08:03

Lol I haven't heard an adult use the word "mint" in a very long time.

I think ours is about 50", it's very nice. Mint, even :)

userxx · 07/07/2021 08:07

43inch. Wouldn't get anything bigger.

Morgan12 · 07/07/2021 08:09

55inch but I want 65 or 70. I'm waiting till the kids are older though. I didn't want something that cost so much because it was them who broke the last TV 😕

dementedma · 07/07/2021 08:16

I've never measured it but just a "normal" small one, not a big one on the wall. I dont watch much tv so dont want the room dominated by something I dont use much
