This arguments shows that the whole 'I only get fake boobs/lips/botox etc for me not for men' is a load of old bullshit, as we always knew it was.

If these girls were truly doing it for 'themselves' they wouldn't give a shit about Hugo saying something like that.

They are absolutely right, there is pressure to look a certain way. And it must be a bit shit when you have gone through lots of painful procedures to try and live up to a certain beauty standard, only for men to turn around and say they 'don't like fake'. It's always been bollocks that women do these things for themselves. That's why his comments touched a nerve.

If women would stop getting all this plastic surgery perhaps that would go some way to alleviating the insecurity we feel. If anything I think Hugo's comments probably made a lot of women watching feel better about themselves

I agree. The young woman I work with said it made her feel better. Also the men at work all hate the look.

These girls have been brought up thinking they have to meet a totally unrealistic beauty standard. They have to look like photoshopped sex dolls, and the only way to do that is by having things artificially done to their bodies, because women don't look like photoshopped sex dolls in real life. And they think that if they do these things then they will be happy and attractive and will get validation.

And then when things like this happen they realise that the whole thing is bullshit and they will never be good enough whatever they do, and that realisation must be really crap.

The message is: be perfect, look like a porn star, don't have any flaws, look like the photoshopped social media photos, have the perfect sized lips, breasts, arse...... But whatever you do don't be fake.

I really hope there is a backlash against all this soon and the young women realise there is no point going through expensive and painful procedures because they will never be good enough so they might as well embrace what they naturally have.

@Puffalicious I can't say for sure as I never seriously considered surgery and looking into options, but I would be SHOCKED if a natural look wasn't available. Natural looking might well have been popular, but at the time the look glorified in the press was the page 3/ footballers wives. I would hazard a guess that the boobs Faye idealised and coveted from 12 were the big, round, fake stye, so when she went for her surgery that's what she picked. Like I said in my pervious post though her lack of fat on her chest area does make the blend of a large implant much more difficult than on someone who has already got fat and a fair amount of breast tissue.

I am just saying that the narrative that women get work done 'for themselves and not for anyone else' is horseshit, and comes from women who have been conditioned by the patriarchy to think that happiness comes from fake breasts and lip filler.

I agree. Plastic Faye and Silicon Sharon really showed themselves up.

He has a disability not a 'I'm 13 and don't have huge tits' teenage thing.

They say they are confident and I remember watching the first thread and some said they were and some said they weren't and pointed to plastic surgery meaning lacking in confidence. I think if they were truly confident in themselves they would either 1. not have the plastic bits or 2. have the plastic and own it and realise that not all men find fake a turn on. Are men not allowed to like or not like certain things or features since women certainly do enough of the 'don't like short men, fat, skinny or hairy men' stuff. Double standards of course.

It's about time some women started to realise that you don't need to pump yourself up with plastic bits for men to fancy you. I am pleased that some men say they don't like fake. There is such much fake around and the push to look like a clone or barbie doll is huge and frankly wrong.

Young girls need to hear that lots of men don't like the fake look and just because you see it on Instagram or in magazines or celebrities embrace it doesn't mean it' s a good thing. Natural is wonderful, different, unique and cloning is awful.
