The Handmaid's Tale S4 at C4 pace (no spoilers from Hulu subscribers)

A thread for those watching Season 4 of the Handmaid's Tale on Channel 4 starting this evening. There's another thread for those who have already streamed it via Hulu, so it would be good if we could keep this one free of spoilers for episodes beyond those Channel 4 has broadcast.

Anyone else mad that the commander who was very much involved got away with a shave while aunt Lydia who had nothing to do with it - and actually was right all along about June was beaten black and blue!? Obviously I hate aunt Lydia but its just the misogyny and that important high up men are never punished or held accountable
Of course- but nick seems to be in charge of what happens to Cmdr Lawrence and nick is on the good side so he won’t want to have him beaten.

No Hannah is still in Gilead. However, the baby June had with Nick (Nicole) is in Canada being looked after by Luke!

Hannah (Agnes) is still in Gilead and whereabouts unknown as her commander family moved after their Martha was hanged for feeding June information on Hannah. I think it could only be Nick now that can help June reunite with Hannah

Does anyone know, how big a percentage of the child population of Gilead would 86 be? And also- would all the Martha’s of those children’s family’s be punished/killed for smuggling them out?

What is serena's game all about then? She obviously lured her DH to Canada so he could be arrested, but was there not some sort of freedom deal in there for her? She seems to still be in prison, albeit in very fancy clothes.
Not sure what the Canadian officer was doing feeding them bits of information about June. That seemed a bit dangerous. Double agent?

The reason June didn't leave on the plane, or when whatsherface and baby Nicole escaped, was because she won't leave without Hannah.

I think Serena's true loyalties won't be shown until much later on. Not knowing who to trust is such a key part of the show

She had a deal didn't she, and then they u-turned on it but I can't remember why now - I need to rewatch series 3 but it's one of those programmes that I love watching first time round but can't quite face the trauma a second time!

It's because her husband the commander told the Canadian authorities that Serena was also guilty of crimes herself, like when she forced June to have sex with Nick.

Yes I was confused about serenas situation. Was it confirmed that she lured Fred or did she not know it was a trap?

Once in custody Fred threw her under the bus and told of all her crimes so I guess Canada couldn’t ignore the allegations made against her regardless of whatever deal they made when they thought she was just an innocent wife.

Didn't Fred tell them about what Serena had done in Gilead? I guess when they gave her the deal she gave the impression she was an unwilling participant in all of it.

I think the Canadian guy only told them what had happened as a way of moving the plot forward, don't think he's a double agent or anything.

Serena's thing is getting a baby isn't it? Although now maybe it's getting revenge on June for taking her baby away.

Waterford took his revenge in Serena by telling the authorities about her arranging for Nick to have sex with June.

@Dreamingofbeergardens confusingly they said they were 6 miles from enemy territory which sounds like they should be in Canada but they are clearly in gilead...

I've rewatched the end of series 3, Serena negotiated immunity for 'unavoidable' crimes under Gilead, but forcing June and Nick to have sex didn't count.
