A thread for those watching Season 4 of the Handmaid's Tale on Channel 4 starting this evening. There's another thread for those who have already streamed it via Hulu, so it would be good if we could keep this one free of spoilers for episodes beyond those Channel 4 has broadcast.

If you’ve got Amazon Prime Series 1 to 3 are on there. I can’t stand watching anything on All4 due to all the adverts

I'm halfway through rewatching and am on Season 2 episode 2

It's really not a good series to binge watch though, not sure my mind can cope with the stress. I need a break for a few days I think. I'm going to watch tonight’s episode even though I’ve not finished the rewatch

theneverendinglaundry · 20/06/2021 20:07

Signing in - can't wait!

UhtredRagnarson · 20/06/2021 20:21

@Bowbridge

So looking forward to tonight. It must be 2 years since the last series Series 3, so anyone who cares to remind me of what happened, I would be grateful.

How and who shot June? How were the children freed? etc

I have the subtitles at the ready to see the subtleties of the script and background mutterings (of which there are many!)

I vaguely recall. June somehow managed to get a plane that was delivering supplies I think? to agree to take all the children. The handmaids organised and got all the children to the pick up but there were guards and there was shooting. I think that’s how June got shot. I remember so little- it was so long ago.

I binge-watched seasons 1 to 3. I loved season 3 and it had some great "yes!" moments where June had more of the upper hand. I loved the comment when all the muffins arrived from the other Marthas and June said "We're going to need a bigger boat"

I'm so looking forward to this!

CruCru · 20/06/2021 20:49

Woohoo! We’re driving back home now. Not sure if we’ll be back by 9

gingercat02 · 20/06/2021 20:52

Checking in but not able to watch live tonight.
IIRC June had organised for all the children and Handmaids/Martha's to gather at her commanders house to go on the flight to Canada, but at the last minute they were discovered at the airport and June decided to run interference to let them all get away. She got shot and the Handmaids carried her off though the wood

CruCru · 20/06/2021 20:52

Argh! Roadworks!!!

NewYearNewTwatName · 20/06/2021 20:56

signing in too.

quite excited Grin

I don't know I would have been able to handle it if it had come out last year.

GinPink · 20/06/2021 21:01

Watching! Eek excited Grin

UhtredRagnarson · 20/06/2021 21:03

I welled up at the recap and then the say a little pray song

viques · 20/06/2021 21:23

Aunt Lydia , still seething.

UhtredRagnarson · 20/06/2021 21:24

For a brief moment there I thought aunt Lydia had turned against the regime and was going to stand up for the handmaids. I don’t know why I expected that Grin I’m glad she stayed true to her fantastic character.

greyinganddecaying · 20/06/2021 21:24

Looks like they really roughed her up

FrankiesKnuckle · 20/06/2021 21:24

I held my breath for the entire scene in the truck.

Crinkle77 · 20/06/2021 21:25

Aunt Lydia seemed annoyed when that commander referred to the handmaid's as whores.

GoingGently · 20/06/2021 21:25

Can't remember why aunt Lydia is so duffed up?

GinPink · 20/06/2021 21:26

I got the impression they duffed aunt Lydia up in the 19 days she's been held captive.

snowballer · 20/06/2021 21:26

Think she's been duffed up in the 19 day "interview"

greyinganddecaying · 20/06/2021 21:27

@GoingGently

Can't remember why aunt Lydia is so duffed up?

They said they "investigated" (interrogated?) her for 19 days.

GinPink · 20/06/2021 21:27

@Crinkle77

Aunt Lydia seemed annoyed when that commander referred to the handmaid's as whores.
I think it's anger because she wanted June hung on the wall but the powers that be put her back into another household instead against her wishes.
UhtredRagnarson · 20/06/2021 21:28

@GoingGently

Can't remember why aunt Lydia is so duffed up?
Didn’t janine attack her?
adrianmolesmole · 20/06/2021 21:31

Who's the girl in blue? I don't remember her!
