For all of you uk friends fans out there if your not already aware , the friends reunion is on Thursday at 8pm on sky one.
Just a bit of fun...
who’s your favourite character and what’s your favourite epsiode?
Mines chandler...
And I love the episode with all the kissing, when chandler kisses Monica in front of Rachel and phoebe and then has to kiss them too as to not let them know he’s in a relationship with Monica. Cracks me up everytime 🤭😄

It wasn't Sputnik, it was Spudnik

Also, why didn't Helen B like her time there? Did she feel like an outsider?

AuthorsOfForever · 29/05/2021 15:40

Watched it last night. I enjoyed the re reads, the quiz, and when they were chatting together etc. But found the random celebs irritating. And HATED Gaga singing smelly cat. The thing that made Phoebes songs charming was the fact that she was pretty awful at guitar and singing. Having a talented singer etc perform it takes away from that in my opinion... also, don't care about random celebs fave episodes.

I found it interesting how Matt le blanc seemed to remember literally everything, he reminded of the grandpa who has all the stories. He seems like a nice man.

Jennifer and Courtney upset me so much. They were both so beautiful and they've ruined their faces and it's just upsetting. I do really hope they don't regret their choices and, Courtney especially, don't look in the mirror and hate themselves. The expectation of women to not age makes me so angry. I'm glad to see that lisa hasn't fallen into that trap.

And Matthew Perry!! His teeth were cracking me right up. He's turned into a little Hamster 🐹 or something 😆

David just didn't shut up. Like, pipe it down man. It's not the Ross show. 😆

But on the whole, I actually think they all came across quite well. And it's interesting because I genuinely think they are all friends in real life. It's so different to when you think about the cast of other tv shows, and how they didn't like each other etc.

What was the weird Jennifer and David stuff about? I don't actually believe any of that.

To answer OP, my faves at first were Ross and Rachel. But then it became Monica and Chandler. Never was the much of a fan of Phoebe. But the thing is, they needed all 6. I never disliked any of them. All had their moments of being sweet, and hilarious.

Don't really have a fave episode. But love all the secret Monica and Chandler loving. Can't even remember anything now 😆

Well... that was a ramble ...

AuthorsOfForever · 29/05/2021 15:41

Oh. One of THE best episodes is the one with Bruce Willis.

I, too, am a neat guy.

They didn't even mention him!!

PeachesandCream2020 · 29/05/2021 17:17

I enjoyed most of it. Wasn’t keen on the random celebrities turning up. I’d have liked to have seen more of the cast too.

I thought the start was really emotional when they walked into set. I may have had a wee tear in my eye!

Favourite episodes...leather trousers, Ross and the sun bed, the male nanny, ah there’s too many.

The sun Bed one when Rachel opens the door and starts laughing at Ross tan and she says “what is up with Miss Hawaiian Tropic”
Cracks me up every time 🤣

Yes, MLB was a total memory guy, it was cute 😍 But conversely, MP didn't even remember the fusbal table being smashed up. That all made me so sad.
AuthorsOfForever · 29/05/2021 18:47

SpanishFly I guess that particular scene isn't a very 'quotable' scene so isn't as famous as say, PIVOT, or Could I be wearing anymore clothes? And when you have sooooo many scenes I can understand how a lot may be forgotten. As I can't imagine he's sitting there watching them over and over, like a fan of the show would.

I found it quite funny that only Matt LB and Jennifer remembered the ball throwing episode. Grin

Maze76 · 29/05/2021 19:08

I absolutely loved the reunion show. I admit I shed a tear, this show was a constant in my twenties, and it’s great that it still provides laughs today. I agree Matt Perry didn’t really participate, which is sad. Love the girls, but also disappointed that Jen and Court have succumbed to Mr Botox. I don’t have a favourite episode, more favourite moments. My favourite character, without a doubt is Phoebe. I love her quirkiness, I wish I could be a little like her.

RacMonPhoChaRosJoe · 30/05/2021 00:04

This broke me a tiny bit, not gonna lie! “Friends” was such a constant for me from the moment it came out, esp at university, and it reminds me of the same time in my life in my early 20’s. So to see it presented so nostalgically has made me feel old and wishing for my early 20’s again as well as theirs.

Like everyone else, I could have done without Bieber and Corden & co, but I thoroughly enjoyed it; and in particular the bits where we got to see the cast talking together felt very real and moving. And Lisa Kudrow’s laugh was the icing on the cake!!

Italiangreyhound · 30/05/2021 00:31

Thanks Tootshoots and Meltinthemiddle.

For me, Ross and Rachel were the best bit of Friends.

drinkingcherrywine · 30/05/2021 00:35

Fillers are clearly the work of the devil and feck I am old, but still was good to see the show. Needed more Gunther though. No mention of putting the mouse back in the house...

I'm curious about Helen B too. I seem to remember Elle MacPherson saying the same thing - the cast were very cliquey and she felt like an outsider.
Deadringer · 30/05/2021 00:50

I haven't seen the reunion but i used to love Friends. It got me through a difficult time in my life, my dh was in hospital and he always rang me before he went to bed, i would watch Friends while i waited for his call. My favourite was Monica, CC was so beautiful, so sad what some of the cast have done to their faces as pp have said, but hey that's show business i guess. One of my fave episodes was when Monica and Rachel were giving Chandler sex tips, one two four, two two two, four or whatever, it was hilarious.

Laufeythejust · 30/05/2021 01:10

I loved it. Had a lump in my throat the whole time.
David Schwimmer, Matt le blanc and Lisa kudrow stole the show for me. Jennifer Anniston I found quite annoying, she talked over the others a lot and liked the attention to be on her. I found Courtney cox and her to have mean girl vibes. My heart broke for Matthew Perry though- I felt that they all kind of kept their distance with him.

YellowMonday · 30/05/2021 01:28

"Pivot. Pivot! Pivot! Pi-vot. Pi-vot. Pi-voooooot!"

Why did James Corden get the gig to host?! He almost ruined it for me.

I really enjoyed it otherwise, just wish there were deeper questions asked and less random celebrities.

PyongyangKipperbang · 30/05/2021 02:00

I was thinking about this earlier and thought that the difference between LK and the other women is that she isnt (and hasnt ever been) stick thin. Also, she has always seemed happier in her skin, so she has aged better. She has just enough fat under her skin to not age as CC and JA may have done (no evidence for that apart from the fact that my sister is bigger than me and looks younger, I aged 5 years in 2 by losing a lot of weight).

Sadly I think that JA and CC look like badly made wax works of themselves, they shouldnt have ever felt that they needed to do that.

GuiltyPleasure · 30/05/2021 02:01

Just managed to watch it & really enjoyed it. I'm of a similar age to the cast & I had the biggest crush on Matt LeBlanc at the time & that's definitely been reignited!
Thought they all came over well as genuinely nice people. Especially refreshing to see Matt & Lisa looking so good & defying the Hollywood filler/Botox/surgery anti-ageing process.
I've rewatched the re-runs so many times & Joey impersonating Chandler "Could I BE wearing any more clothes?!" still makes me laugh.
Also realised that Ross as the most "serious" male character actually had the best comedy moments, the fluorescent teeth, the leather trousers, the spray tan & of course PIVOT!

PyongyangKipperbang · 30/05/2021 02:01

Oh and the "fashion show" was painful to watch, cringing so hard I hurt myself.

Tobebythesea · 30/05/2021 07:36

Overall, I really enjoyed it.

I was shocked at how much work JA and CC had had done and DS looked puffy. I felt sorry for MP. He looked unwell.

I mostly enjoyed the celeb appearances and fashion show. I loved the read through bits but agree with others that I would have loved to see more guest appearances such as Ben and Emma, Bruce Willis.

Not too sure of Smelly Cat. I really liked LK performing and then she looked like WTF when Gaga and the other singers came on. She was very graceful in her response though.

It felt weird that not everyone remembered all the scenes when fans must have seen them all millions of times but I agree that there were so many episodes and they wouldn’t watch them over and over like us.

Yeah i know what you mean, I just think smashing up the table would have been a bit memorable in some way. Particularly when they rehearsed for a week before doing the live filming. But yeah, that was bonkers that DS didn't remember the ball throwing one!!
BentBastard · 30/05/2021 11:11

To be fair, I don't remember every incident from the job I left 17 years ago...

Italiangreyhound · 30/05/2021 11:51

I'm just watching Friends on channel 5, the one where Phoebe and Rachel know about Chandler and Monica.

Phoebe: "They don't know that we know we know that they know we know.!

Joey you can't say anything."

Joey "Couldn't if I wanted to!"

cocoloco987 · 30/05/2021 12:28

I've just watched it. Agree with others that seeing MP made me sad. He didn't fit in with the others in the same way and he seemed aware and a bit bitter about it. There was a couple of barbed comments. He also seemed to be cut out of a couple of group discussions one in Monica's apartment where he didn't join in although that may have just been the timing of filming and putting clips together but he wasn't present when they looked at the signatures on the wall either. As for DS' face - he's had so much Botox that only his mouth moves. It's a shame because his expressive face is prt of the character and indeed himself as the character was written for him based on just that as was explained when they talked about casting. I'm usually a huge JA fan but I did find her a bit annoying and self important, especially during the quiz where she shouted out on the boys question and demanded the point but then wouldn't let them answer the next one even when the girls didn't know as it wasn't their question.

SleepingLikeALog · 30/05/2021 13:35

Watched it last night. MP's body language was very interesting. He was literally trying to make himself as small and insignificant as he could. I felt for him enormously and for me his demeanour put a shadow over the show as I worried for him throughout.

LK, MLB & DS seemed most comfortable there.

JA & CC yy to whoever said mean girl vibes. JA wanted to dominate.

Overall I thought it was OK.

Delatron · 30/05/2021 13:56

Do we think it’s too much filler for JA/CC?

Lisa Kudrow is 57. She looks great. Are we thinking she has no work/subtle work/ better work.

What’s with the crush thing for JA/DS? Really? Who were they both with at the time? Not Brad Pitt?

GreenEyedMonsterMunch · 30/05/2021 14:58

Like a pp said, the whole thing was overshadowed by Matthew Perry's sadness. I think maybe he's the real reason why it's taken so long to do a reunion and maybe why they could never do another episode, the man's obviously not fit to do it and was barely fit to even do the reunion show. I think the other 5 probably do see each other much more frequently and MP's 'joke' about nobody contacting him wasn't actually a joke. The laughs when he joked about it seemed a bit forced and done in order to cover up the fact that he was being serious. I just felt so sad for him the whole time.

I like DS much more than I liked Ross, I think he came across very well last night. Same with LK. And yy to JA trying to steal the limelight.

Would loved to have seen Paul Rudd there, he was my favourite addition to the cast.

MLB was a breath of fresh air in the whole 'botox/fillers' culture of hollywood.
