For all of you uk friends fans out there if your not already aware , the friends reunion is on Thursday at 8pm on sky one.
Just a bit of fun...
who’s your favourite character and what’s your favourite epsiode?
Mines chandler...
And I love the episode with all the kissing, when chandler kisses Monica in front of Rachel and phoebe and then has to kiss them too as to not let them know he’s in a relationship with Monica. Cracks me up everytime 🤭😄

@Shelddd never really got into fresh Prince, and have never watched will and grace. Not sure why you care about what programmes I like now, or why we can't have different opinions.

Maria53 · 28/05/2021 23:35

I loved it too, was a big comfy blanket after a crap week and a hellfire year overall.

I thought David, Matt and Lisa came across very well. I do have a lot of time for Jen as well although all the work she has done overall isn't ideal. I kept looking searchingly into CC's face, she is barely recognisable. During the table read, all the facial expressiveness of Monica was just gone.

I also felt for Matthew Perry. He was hunched over for almost the whole show, as depressed people do. He sounded very real though, when the rest insisted they talk a lot and he said 'I don't hear from anyone.'

I'll definitely rewatch it again. Just a great comforting, reassuring nostalgia hit. I smiled all the way through until the JA/DS revelation which made me cry.

Meltinthemiddle · 29/05/2021 00:00

Actually Ross's wife was a lesbian. Most shows back then either had a all black or white cast.

Italiangreyhound · 29/05/2021 00:41

Watching clips as I haven't got Sky!

[]

My favourite episode has probably got to be the one where Monica and Rachel go to the Prom and it's all in the past.

I thought Monica and Ross (Courtney and David) have aged amazingly well.

@Smokeahontas

I really want to but James Corden gives me the rage Angry
Don't let that put you off, he actually doesn't get nearly as much input as I'd feared. I can't stand him but his presence was tolerable because the vast majority of the show was focused on Friends, not him, thankfully.

I loved the script readings they did, intercut with the old clips, a really good technique. MP moved me. When he opened up to them about his insecurities I was a bit taken aback at how matter of fact some of their responses were, kind of disinterested almost. He clearly struggles and needs lots of hugs! The rest of the schmaltzy nostalgic stuff didn't really draw me in, couldn't help feeling it was something of a vanity project and money spinner. But very watchable even so, and well put together.

hazandduck · 29/05/2021 01:35

I smiled in parts but so much of it was just filler. I’m sorry but wtf was Justin Bieber dressed as a potato doing there? And all the crap interviews with random fans...we all love Friends, we’ve all felt comforted by it, we don’t need to see some random teary eyed losers banging on about what it means to them...just go back to the good stuff already! 😂 or was it just me getting irritated by that?!

Wanted to hug Matt Perry. Especially when he said about his terror that a joke wouldn’t land...and the rest of the cast looked at him in disbelief that he ever felt like that...he must’ve felt so lonely on set if they were all so confident and he was crippled by nerves and couldn’t share it with them. I fear he is off the wagon and is unwell after years of being sober and helping others with their addictions. It’s so sad.

Italiangreyhound · 29/05/2021 03:17

"I’m sorry but wtf was Justin Bieber dressed as a potato doing there? "

I don't know why Bieber but Ross dressed a potato when he was 'Sputnik' for a fancy dress party.

Italiangreyhound · 29/05/2021 03:18

dressed as a potato...

covetingthepreciousthings · 29/05/2021 06:54

Thinking more about it, I'd have like to have had other cast like Susan (and her partner can't remember her name?) appear, and Helen Baxendale even via zoom.. the kids who played Ben & Emma.. who will be adults now.

I really think they should have had more guest appearances than the random
Celebs. But again, I wonder if they asked and the stars for whatever reason turned it down..

Cuntryhouse · 29/05/2021 07:19

What a bloody brilliant programme! Expected a load of shite, but it was compelling viewing and emotional. I love Matt Le Bland in Episodes. He's brilliant. Love the fact he hasn't ordered a trainer to whip him into shape for the show. Very real.

Cuntryhouse · 29/05/2021 07:20

Oh no, not Le Bland, Le Blanc!!!

I'd like to have seen some more cast members too. Maybe a follow up episode is in order! Always loved Phoebe's brother and his wife. And the ones with Chandler's roommate Eddie.

I did once read that Helen Baxendale hated her time on set and won't talk about it. I remember my season 10 DVD came with lots of extra features. The woman who played Julie was so big headed!.

Meltinthemiddle · 29/05/2021 10:10

I read that about Helen Baxendale too. I wish Paul Rudd could have came on 😋

PiuVinoPerFavore · 29/05/2021 10:28

I didn't think Helen Baxendale was very good in it, she seemed really wooden. Paul Rudd was great, was a real shame he wasn't in the reunion.

happinessischocolate · 29/05/2021 11:16

*I loved the surprise guests performing 'smelly cat' with Lisa!

I don't think she did though, she looked like she wanted to tell the guest (no spoilers) singer off as if she had been drowned out of her own song!*

She wasn't doing it as Lisa, she was doing it as Phoebe, and that's exactly how Phoebe would have reacted, it was hilarious 🤣

happinessischocolate · 29/05/2021 11:17

Bold fail, try again

🙄

Meltinthemiddle · 29/05/2021 11:23

I suppose Helen did a good job in us not liking her as we were all rooting for Rachel 😁. Think I'm going to rewatch whole the show for 1000th time!!

Can you say what the revelation was, please? I don't have Sky.

That Jen Aniston and David Schwimmer were actually really into eachother when they were shooting the whole Ross Rachel love story. But they didnt get together because they were in other relationships

Basically that he and jen had a massive crush on each other. JA said she felt at the time that she would have been gutted that their first kiss would be on screen but due to both being in relationships at various times it never happened between them (that's what they want us to believe anyway! ) so they channelled all their feelings into Ross and Rachael instead!

minou123 · 29/05/2021 12:21

It got me into the mood to rewatch some episodes and I've just seen Robin Williams and Billy Crystal were also guests stars!

I completely forgot they are in it.
It's season 3 episode 24 for anyone wanting to see it. They are in the opening scene and are brilliant Grin

ChessieFL · 29/05/2021 13:21

I loved it, but I would have liked to see more of the guest stars talk about their time on the show. Tom Selleck and James Michael Tyler barely said anything! And as others have said I would have loved to have seen Paul Rudd and Jane Sibbett (Carol) among others.

FakeColinCaterpillar · 29/05/2021 13:38

I really love MLB. He seems like a normal easy going bloke.
I was obsessed with MP in my youth, he is such a mess. All the others went on and did other work, married, had children. I can’t remember seeing him in anything else apart from 17 Again.

M0rT · 29/05/2021 13:43

I really enjoyed it, I thought it was very true to life when Mathew Perry talked about his insecurities around laughs at the time and the rest hadn't known.
I am 40 and only in recent years talking to friends from my adolescence have we all realised just how much of a front a lot of us were putting on in our youth.
