Spain? Didn’t Neil m retire in Spain as well

I don’t think so, I think that was just something that was suggested on the thread in season 5 when the IP address was revealed as originating in Spain, and it became unconfirmed ‘lore’.

When last we saw Nige he was mowing the grass in a very English-looking garden. But who knows, he could be anywhere now 🤷‍♀️

@Blondeshavemorefun

Wonder if nesbitt did turn up in person

I seem to remember Neil/Nigel cutting the grass in his garden on a full pension with disability benefits last time we saw him, can’t remember Spain being mentioned but I might be wrong.

God, it would be something if Nigel turned out to be H after all this time! He obviously knew what Dot was up to, hence shopping him, but if he was OCG himself he maybe planned for Dot to get caught because he was losing his nerve/getting too close to Kate.

Nigel definitely had it in him to be a really bad bastard. Remember when he spat on Kate?

Buggerthebotox · 23/04/2021 11:22

I'd love to see Nige back but I don't think he's going to figure now. And spitting in Kate's hair was grim. Didn't he also put a dead rat in Deepak's desk drawer?

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/04/2021 11:26

He’s was a bad un !!

AwkwardArnottDentonFumble · 23/04/2021 11:29

I really didn’t like Nige! I found the fake disability thing really uncomfortable too. I’d actually forgotten that’s revealed later on.

Wiebsa · 23/04/2021 11:29

I haven’t read the thread but wanted some advice please. I haven’t watched any Line of Duty and wondered how violent it is? I loved Spooks, New Tricks and Unforgotten and know LOD is much loved but I am a real scaredy-cat who can’t watch anything with sexual violence, child murders, domestic violence. I don’t mind guns or swearing! Do you think I would enjoy it? TIA

DentonsFringeArnottsWaistcoat · 23/04/2021 11:30

Is there another series confirmed does anyone know?

iklboo · 23/04/2021 11:32

Nige not only spat on Kate, he hit her with his crutch (the walking kind, not his willy).

AwkwardArnottDentonFumble · 23/04/2021 11:33

It sounds like it wouldn’t be appropriate for you wiebsa as well as references to some really nasty crimes like child abuse there are episodes where people get their throats cut.

AwkwardArnottDentonFumble · 23/04/2021 11:34

@iklboo

😂 that would’ve been a very different show.
AwkwardArnottDentonFumble · 23/04/2021 11:34

Now I’m wondering what the Adult Film version would be called.

Line of Booty?

I don't think there's anything on screen in LOD more shocking than the fryer scene in spooks
NoWordForFluffy · 23/04/2021 12:04

I can't watch that Spooks' scene.

Wiebsa · 23/04/2021 12:11

I don’t remember the fryer scene in Spooks and obviously am too scared to look it up Grin. I probably ran out of the room and asked DH to shout me when it was over.

Thanks for heads up re child abuse crimes AwkwardArnottDentonFumble, I wish I was a bit tougher as I miss out on a lot of good telly.

See I thought the opposite. I thought Neil Morrissey played the character of Nigel really well. Sinister, sleazy, arse-lickey. And then the final reveal that he wasn’t actually disabled just revealed what a truly awful indivisible he really was - we knew he was bad, but that took the biscuit. As a character, he was good!
ElizabethTudor · 23/04/2021 12:15
 • individual obviously!
TrunshonAndHelmet · 23/04/2021 12:17

I’ll never ever be able to unsee that Spooks scene, one of the most shocking things I’ve watched on tv.

NoWordForFluffy · 23/04/2021 12:23

Same. Once was enough.
AwkwardArnottDentonFumble · 23/04/2021 12:27

Oh yes I definitely agree he was very well acted! Neil M is fab. I just really hated Nige. I think it’s partly the bullying element (the way the team were with Steve in s1) as that makes me really uncomfortable to watch. It’s weird, some characters I love to hate - like Carmichael! She’s such a bitch but I love watching her. Yet Nige I don’t - can’t really articulate why!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 23/04/2021 12:53
@SchadenfreudePersonified - I can't link on my phone but I asked around and she's called SoMuchToBits. You can do an advanced search and find the threads. I'd love her to do a LOD one.
Thanks iklboo

I'd love her to do LoD, too.

She must have millions of quids' worth of Lego! Grin

I thought only I did that!

I can't bear to watch people or animals get hurt. It's bad enough hearing thumping noises and screams.

NoWordForFluffy · 23/04/2021 13:01

I wasn't as sensitive pre-kids. My post-kids viewing is far more restricted!

Wiebsa · 23/04/2021 13:05

Yes! It is since having kids! I was a tough nut before.

PomLikeTheBattle · 23/04/2021 13:08

post DC I have very low tolerance to upsetting scenes @Wiebsa but I just about manage LOD. It is upsetting though in parts and I couldn't watch some scenes again.

Annasgirl · 23/04/2021 13:28

Just checking in. I'm rewatching from the start too, (posting on the other thread) and I realised that I now find I get more out of Season 1 since I know what happens - it makes it easier to follow and I can see who is relevant and who is not. But I hadn't remembered how truly awful Jackie Lafferty's voice was!!!

Although I still have no idea who will be revealed as the mastermind (will they even reveal a mastermind or will we be left hanging?).

I know there is a genre of series making which likes to "keep it real" and therefore there is no reveal or closure and they use it to make the point that life is not good and we have to deal with it. But really, after all of this time, I want full "and they lived happily ever after" closure, with all the baddies in a jail cell (even if they escape once the credits close).
