Hope no one minds me starting a new thread as 4 was filled on one episode.

Ted has been the police so long that they won't necessarily have his DNA on file from him joining. He was arrested and interviewed last series so his DNA may be on the nominal database from then.

Finally cracked and opened up new Radio Times (it arrived Monday because we have a subscription)
Phew, satisfyingly spoiler free about Sunday night, apart from one (small) detail about something that really didn't need to be included Angry Cast list is spoiler free, also.

It's apparently another cracker of an episode!!!

48 hours and 53 mins to go

I’ve just seen a spoilery pic on twitter which i’m cross about 😡

Can’t wait for sunday!

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 17/04/2021 01:45

@TrunshonAndHelmet

I 'spotted' this in episode 3 when Ryan drowned Lisa when the cop car went into the reservoir & thought hmm this is a weird car registration as it reads......

Might be coincidence or a random red herring or a clue?

Especially as I as in i is never used in the last 3 letter sequence of a car reg

Netaporter · 17/04/2021 03:36

I is used in NI reg plates though. LOD is filmed in NI Wink

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 17/04/2021 05:20

Didn't know that about NI plates but although LoD is filmed in Belfast & the surrounding areas, fictionally is is set in the English Midlands.
English, Scottish & Welsh car reg plates don't have I or Q in the last 3 letter sequence.
I know it's a made up number plate but I assumed it would follow the usual pattern.
Or maybe it's just done how ever they want it as it's a tv programme not reality.

Doodledoop · 17/04/2021 06:57

I thought the plate is an easter egg not a clue. It kind of reads 'Begbie' cf. Trainspotting which was Kelly MacDonald's big break.

I read that theory sonewhere else too - an in-joke about Kelly McDonald and ‘Trainspotting’.
MotherOfGodWeeFella · 17/04/2021 07:41

I spotted the numberplate gag too. Has anyone else noticed that Steve and Kate's call signs are 45 and 37? Same as Bodie and Doyle in The Professionals.

Ooooh, good spot! That whizzed over my head!

@AwkwardArnottDentonFumble

Since I finished my s1-5 rewatch, I’m practically inhaling drama box sets in between new episodes of LOD.

Problem is LOD has ruined all other police characters for me. All these bloody renegades going round talking to witnesses and suspects casually. Not one of these coppers is following the letter of the law. The letter. 🤬

I just restarted the bridge last night Grin
AwkwardArnottDentonFumble · 17/04/2021 09:10

Ooh, I’ve not seen that, is it good then?

NoWordForFluffy · 17/04/2021 09:11

The Bridge is brilliant!

Yes I saw one with a photo of a returning charater on twitter too. Must unfollow certain people...
ThisIsSimplyBeyond · 17/04/2021 09:18

As an autistic blonde woman, I have a special soft spot for the bridge 🤣

AwkwardArnottDentonFumble · 17/04/2021 09:22

Why’s that @ThisIsSimplyBeyond? I am not blonde but I am autistic :o

EsmaCannonball · 17/04/2021 09:23

I've just finished watching Bodies on iPlayer, where Jimmy Lakewell plays a surgeon who deserves that garrotting. It was brilliant - better even than Line of Duty - but, after watching it and the first season of LoD, I can't help but think Jed Mercurio is very sneering about working class people and overweight women, particularly using the latter as shorthand for lazy and stupid. I always felt uncomfortable about the portrayal of the inept police admin worker in the first series. I know he was making a point about policing on the cheap, but I didn't like the way it was done.

AwkwardArnottDentonFumble · 17/04/2021 09:23

I’ve been watching lots of shorter standalone series mostly. But up for anything really.

I am intrigued by the recent documentaries about police corruption but I think I’ll wait until this series of LOD is finished - I feel like it’ll get confused in my head or shatter the illusion 😂

passwordnotsecure · 17/04/2021 09:29

But obvs fill this thread first :)

AwkwardArnottDentonFumble · 17/04/2021 10:11

Good work password - or are you getting ahead of the game because you’re hiding something fella?

Reg15 · 17/04/2021 10:31

@EsmaCannonball - I’ve just re-watched S1 as well and the civvy character stood out as really jarring to me too - I know it’s less than a decade ago that it was made but it seemed really dated, I think that kind of stereotyping wouldn’t be used today. Also the kids on the estate, Ryan’s mum etc felt a bit over-played in terms of being caricatures

I’d forgotten how much of S1 was a bit of a satire on the police service - all the digs about paperwork and overtime.

Dramatically though it might be my favourite season.
