It looks like the Good Fight Season 4 is finally coming to More 4 this Thursday at 9pm.

I agree about the theme song. in fact I actually enjoy the intro every episode rather than skiping it.
The first episode though was a bit naff I thought.

hattymattie · 26/03/2021 09:40

I actually thought I must have missed some episodes - I remember Maya leaving and now the whole law firm seems to have been bought over. Am confused. Love that Lee is back - he was great on The Good Wife.

CongealedCrags · 26/03/2021 14:00

That's more like it.

stumbledin · 26/03/2021 15:33

I thought last night's episode was good though to begin I thought oh no she's not having another hallucination is she! All those big changes in the office, but if she's been on holiday for 9 months amazed she has anything to go back to.

I really like the way they bring contemporary events* into the plots, but every now and again do feel it has that rather smug we are the good guys atmosphere that in the end made the West Wing such tosh.

But now of course, because I feel they are filtering through real life events in the story, really want to know if Memo 618 actually happens. The US court system isn't one I totally understand but to think that behind it there are people who are untouchable and can pull strings like that is really depressing.

  • I always enjoyed the scenes with the 2 or was it 3 computer geeks who got taken on to eaves drop - which I can believe. Or was that in the Good Wife?
EarringsandLipstick · 26/03/2021 15:42

This series was shown on Irish television a while back, so I've seen it all.

Don't want to introduce any spoilers but it's lost its way a lot. Diane has gone a bit insane as a character, the new ownership structure is totally confusing, and Lucca's storylines are just plain daft.

Hasn't been the same since Maya left.

The Good Wife.

But they weren't taken on. They were part of FBI surveillance. IIRC.

Oh that's so disappointing. Why do they stray so far from what was a winning formula?!!

Any recommendations for new courtroom dramas?
"For the people" was ok, don't know when a new series is due to be released.

stumbledin · 26/03/2021 17:04

Yes - sorry, I did know that but was typing too fast and didn't check the sense in what I was saying.

That's what I meant total laid back geeks working with the FBI and how they dealt with.

Cant say I remember much else about the Good Wife, except of course the wonderful Kalinda. It was never the same without her.

HalleLouja · 28/03/2021 18:59

So episode 2 was better than episode 1. Poor Julius, being a judge doesn’t seem to be the stuff he dreamt of.

I love a bit of Louis Canning. MJF plays him perfectly. Also loved David Lee. Poor Lucca thought she was trying to help....

Thank you OP! I so would have missed this otherwise.
If anyone else needs a reminder, series 1-3 are on Amazon prime at the minute, think I am going to have to rewatch some of series 3 before I start this one!

HalleLouja · 28/03/2021 20:42

@bettybyebye I only found out that series 4 was on by accident. I had almost given up on it being shown.

I have just watched Episode 4 and really enjoyed it. Singing Liz made me laugh.

I need a rich friend to send me over to St Lucia. Looks out of the window at the grey sky.

Although not so sure we needed details of Diane and Kurt’s sex life. Although she looked amazing in the cat suit.

I think it is trying too hard to be too clever.

Maybe if you were living in the US and were in touch with media gossip it would seem funny.

This episode just looked like they were trying to hard to show they are on the cutting edge of social issues.

HalleLouja · 11/04/2021 04:55

I had a google and the play was based on a play called The Slave Play.

OP posts:
stumbledin · 11/04/2021 15:31

Thanks for that. It is interesting. But in terms of the tv series it s more like they are trying to be satirically topical, but as it is now a few years later and we aren't in the states we cant even get the references.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 18/04/2021 12:11

What on Earth has happened to it?

Lucca and her rich friend? Cringeworthy.

All characters are caricatures of what they used to be.

The satire attempts don't work. The woman with the dots? Honestly, WTF is happening.

Graphista · 21/04/2021 18:49

Spotted this thread a while back but it had been a while since I watched I hadn't even seen s3

I'm now caught up via prime but went to watch s4 e1 on all4... and it's not there!

Had to read a recap and am now on ep2 Slightly annoying

Can u guys answer any questions I have as a result?

I love the satire indeed it's one of the few shows that makes me laugh out loud! Any recommendations for similar shows or even films gratefully received. I'm not a fan of standard sitcoms generally but a laugh is good at times

Thought it was quite brave of them to cover the trans issue this week considering the general view in the States. Can't think of any UK drama that has covered the conflict between trans and female rights.

No I hadn't, thanks.

Italiangreyhound · 25/04/2021 15:10

Hi all, I watched episode one and then forgot about it and now I am back to catch up and episode 2 is not on catch up. Can anyone fill me in what happened if episode 2, please?

@QuoteHalleLouja "So episode 2 was better than episode 1. Poor Julius, being a judge doesn’t seem to be the stuff he dreamt of." What happened with Julius, please.

Italiangreyhound · 25/04/2021 15:12

I do miss Louis Canning.

stumbledin · 25/04/2021 17:22

How strange that the earlier episode aren't available on All 4.

Have found these two recaps of episode 2. I have a totally blank and cant remember a thing!

Annoying earlier episodes are disappearing so quickly all4 are normally better than this for this.

I liked the trans episode it was carefully and thoughtfully done mostly though I didn't like liz's comment that the younger generation "get it" better than older ones.

Hope it was a one off.
