Our Girl Thread 59 "Our Girl and Soldier Soldier Revisited"

We have been following Our Girl since 2014 and although there are to be no further series, we revisit time and time again to discuss. As an alternative, we are also watching the 1990s series of Soldier Soldier. We are now on series 7.

I really don't warm to Jacko - he's an idiot, the girlfriend is well rid.

Definite animosity between the CSM's wife and Julie, Jacko's girlfriend.

I've just googled the CSM's wife. She was in Bread all those years ago - anyone remember it? I think she was Joey's girlfriend.

The new recruit seems a bit odd. I think Angie has acquired an unwanted admirer.

Yes, I remember her wasn't she called Roxie?

Angie bumps into the lad who was in the Recruitment Office. Something not right there and he is using an inhaler. He's not going to pass his fitness test with asthma, is he?

Not just Jacko Rhu they are making them all look a bit idiotic in this series. Supposed to be amusing but it doesn't quite come off.

Boy, Stacey could stare for Great Britain in the Olympics with those eyes.

I bet Fingers had to do this for his SF selection programme - the one he failed. Poor lad.

Not just any old exercise though, this one is in the dark so it's even harder to work out who should be doing what.

Just how long are they going to stay underwater? Really this isn't a free diving competition.

Looks like the Paras are in charge of the nasty stuff - let's remember that Mark has been through this for real

Why do the always use the paras as the bad guys.

Jessica has intervened - not sure if she should have done that - a bit like a social worker.

The Paras have arrested Mark and Jacko. They've blindfolded them and although Jacko is treating it as a joke, Mark is having flashbacks to being held hostage on Deliverance Island. The Paras start kicking and punching him. Major (forgotten her name already, sorry) steps in to calm Mark down and will recognise the signs of PTSD.

Oops! Has Mark cracked?

That Calendar looks like it was designed by a kid with some felt tip pens.

Thanks Rhu - I had a mental block on Jessica's name!

She and Mark have a chat in her office. He's unwilling to admit his flashbacks as he thinks the army will see it as a sign of weakness.

Mark's promotion won't go through if he's seen as being weak. Jessica has made a bad suggestion there to not tell the C.O. I'm sure she can't promise that.

Why don't they jsut take the dog to Andy's house to live rather than on the barracks?

The poor greyhound has been found in the truck and he immediately goes to Andy so the secret is out! Another black mark against him in the CSM's book.

The ladies have tons of stuff for the auction - aren't they lucky. The boys have come to help sort things out.

That would be too simple and wouldn’t be such a good story.
