Our Girl Thread 59 "Our Girl and Soldier Soldier Revisited"

We have been following Our Girl since 2014 and although there are to be no further series, we revisit time and time again to discuss. As an alternative, we are also watching the 1990s series of Soldier Soldier. We are now on series 7.

I’ve been thinking - always a silly thing to do about tv series, I know - but how long were they in Africa? Or did they bail out as soon as Chris was killed, same as 2 section does every time Georgie screws up? Because, in the previous episode, Angie was just ‘sure’ she was pregnant, but after they’d gone to Africa etc, come back and been given the freedom of some town before Chris’s funeral(?), she was still only 2 months pregnant????? I mean, even Bones was shipped home and 2 Section stayed in Bangladeshbroccoli.
I don’t think the rules were that different in the nineties. Anyone with Forces experience inclined to opine in the plausibility of the timeline?

Timelines in TV series are always a mystery to me eejit. I was continually confused in most of series 3 of OG and must admit Soldier Soldier has proved the same. Having said that I too thought surely Angie must be further along in her pregnancy than that when she mentioned two months.

Ladies, only just remembered in time that we would need a new thread creating and that it has to reference LP and The Musketeers. Hope the wording on this new thread is ok for us all.

So, Sgt Shouty wants a promotion. He hasn't been successful. Looks like the Colonel has let him down - or is the problem that the Colonel is a rubbish reference.

I despair of Andy.

I didn't think they were a Scottish regiment. Wonder what happened with that recommendation.

Looks like the C.O. is going to get hauled up in front of a board of inquiry. He will be looking to find a scape goat or will he retire?

Sgt Shouty Fitzpatrick has been turned down for his promotion. You almost feel sorry for him. Col Drysdale isn't showing a great deal of sympathy.

Ah, it was for the RSM role. He had both Jeremy's and Drysdale's backing. What's gone wrong there.

Drysdale's boss (Brigadier??) is warning him about an enquiry following the deaths in Africa. Get gone Drysdale, on a nice fat pension.

Here is Stacey getting her medal or whatever for saving the rotten Colonel. Wish she hadn't bothered.

Stacey gets her commendation for saving Drysdale's life. She certainly was a crack shot there.
