Our Girl Thread 59 "Our Girl and Soldier Soldier Revisited"

We have been following Our Girl since 2014 and although there are to be no further series, we revisit time and time again to discuss. As an alternative, we are also watching the 1990s series of Soldier Soldier. We are now on series 7.

Didn't Chris make his army will in the event of his death out so that his death in service pension would go to the Irish son? (Liam?)

I thought Jacko and Rossi couldn't get any worse but I was wrong.

Here comes Dad to rescue Lucy from little Danny Dyer and encounters a bloodied Rossi along the way.

Sgt Shouty turns up at the right moment to sort things out. Nothing like the bouncers having a punch up. Julie turns up to rescue him.

Julie comes to rescue Rossi in a taxi. He does look a real mess.

"She is grounded for the next ten years". Lovely turn of phrase.

He sounds like Mr Bennet there - telling Kitty he'll think about letting her go to a dance again in ten years time.

How very different from the home life. ....

It's difficult to feel sorry for Jacko....and I don't.

I can’t feel sorry for him either.

So, next week is the final ever episode "No Pain, No Gain". I'll look back fondly on the first three or four series, but it began to go downhill after that and I'll be glad to see the back of Jacko, Julie, Andy and Tony. The only person I would like to see happy is Jeremy.

When it aired originally, would we have known it was the final series I wonder, or would that only have come to light at a later stage?

Yes a real mixed bag. Fully agree that the standard went downhill a bit after about series four. Jeremy deserves to come out of it all with some kind of happy situation but don't know how.At least we were spared the ghastly Colonel in that episode but he will definitely be back for the finale. Hopefully getting his comeuppance.

Yes magi boo...hiss, let's hope it's an end to his evil moustache twirling!
