Our Girl Thread 59 "Our Girl and Soldier Soldier Revisited"

We have been following Our Girl since 2014 and although there are to be no further series, we revisit time and time again to discuss. As an alternative, we are also watching the 1990s series of Soldier Soldier. We are now on series 7.

Has anyone watched Call the Midwife tonight? If so, did you recognise Bones as the husband of the pregnant woman in the private maternity home?

Evening - the end of Soldier, Soldier is drawing near. The final four episodes await and tonight's is "Fit to Explode" hmmm....will this be another WW2 UXB?

ilove I did catch a little bit of Call the Midwife on Sunday and saw 'Bones' again. Funnily enough, I caught him briefly on an episode of 'WPC 56' as well. I just happened to turn over and there he was. I much preferred him in those. I still never quite understood his storyline in OG. As a character he never seemed to progress from hard-nosed, abrasive and thoroughly dislikable - apart from one converation about apples and oranges with Fingers. I always felt something more was intended for him, but instead they just abruptly bumped him off.

Let’s face it, from about 35 minutes in to episode 4 of that series, NOTHING seemed to develop properly. In Nigeria, he was justifiably irritated as Georgie screwed up his mission, but in the broccoli he was just mince.

I'm ready and waiting - a bit earlier than last week! I wonder what this episode has in store for us?

Looks like some training/abseiling exercise. I always think of Elvis in his last episode when I see somebody abseiling down a building.

The Colonel is a real despicable character. He also looks like a sack of spuds on that horse.

Right - so they are going off to another fictional island somewhere. Practising for those steep cliffs or something. Is that Butcher stuck again. No it's Jacko.

I'm guessing that's what you would call Gammon - judging by his red face.

None of this lot are a patch on Elvis when he was having a shower.

Wow this is almost like OG - nuddy shower scene - but I don't think the butts will be as attractive!

Tony tries his chat up line on one of the female privates in the stores.

You can see why Sgt Shouty is like he is with a role model like the Colonel.

Jessica goes against Jeremy's advice and goes to see Mark in his hostel. He is pretty belligerent to say the least.

So Tony is moving in on another woman?

Jessica is still meddling a bit. She knows she really messed things up for Hobbs.

Mark is at the railway station and sees rich pickings to make himself some cash. He steals a briefcase from a commuter.

Did you see that mobile phone! I used to have one like that.

Mark's PTSD does seem to be going in a different direction to CJ's at least he's not leaping into bed with the nearest female.

So what has Mark done?

Mark has stolen a briefcase at the station. How his standards have slipped. Nice old fashioned mobile phone there.

Tony is not a nice guy. After being really rotten to Julie, he has another poor woman in his sights.
