Does anyone watch this? It's about a religious homeschooling family in Georgia US with 9 kids.
Lots of tensions and now the older kids have moved away and 3 of them have fallen out with the parents and confronted them about their homeschooling not properly preparing them for adult life.
The parents seem to try and blame everything on the daughter in law Olivia corrupting the others. It's funny how they are going to the opposite extreme doing sexy modelling etc

He was THIRTEEN though, lying on the church floor, wtf?

Thirteen but his parents hadn't told him anything. Homeschooled so didn't even find out from school friends/teachers.
That's where their perfect little set-up falls down. It's all well and good keeping your DC close and living a perfect little life away from any bad influences but at some point the DC grow up and you have to prepare them for that, which that awful pair didn't do. Hence Ethan still acts about 15, he's still growing up even though he's supposedly a grown man.

But lying on the floor, like a 3 year old?Confused

I've caught up now and am on season 3. Jesus, the dad is an belligerent twat isn't he? "Come on,let's all go and see Olivia' and starts marching down the drive Shock

It's awful the way they keep the younger ones from Ethan even when he comes to the door, they could let them hug but then go to one side for a chat.

I'm very glad Ethan has had a proper hair cut < shallow>

Poor Lydia being controlled so much by Kim over her texting the boy. The ones who rebel seem to end up with better mental health as a result.
I can't imagine Max chose that leopard print blouse he was wearing himself
Ethan reminds me of an overgrown toddler. I think him and Olivia should probably call it a day before they have kids. It's not meant to be this hard

Yes that mother is a nightmare, reading Lydia's private texts to her potential boyfriend, I mean she's not 12.

I agree Ethan/Olivia need to call it a day, Ethan looks so incredibly unhappy now. The trouble is if they divorce the parents will think they were right all along Angry

I had to turn it off ,it was depressing, what an awful series. Urghhh!

Report
HuckleberryJam · 13/10/2021 13:32

Yes. I get the impression that the parents probably started off thinking the series would be about their wonderful big home schooling blonde family on the farm, but then when it actually showed how dysfunctional they were they were enjoying the money too much to stop.

Oh dear. Poor Lydia. Hopefully once she gets to 18 they'll either leave her be or she'll rebel and move out like the others. I can't imagine her rebelling though!

Oh no, what was the singing about? 😂
Poor Lydia, they’ve really guilt tripped her into complying to their way of life, haven’t they?! Those parents have got a lot to answer for. As you say hopefully she will find the strength to get the hell away from them soon.

They never seem to consider they might be the problem. I'm guessing this is the next episode we'll see here.

Poor Lydia

Kim and Barry are awful, they are vet lucky Moriah and Micah are back in touch. They will not respect Ethan's boundaries.

It certainly has although Kim started trying to be more accepting at the end of the last season with going shopping with Moriah, not sure if she is being hypocritical or simply taken on the criticism and trying to change. None of it is bound to be her fault though.

I ended up watching it after saying it was depressing 😂

Omg what on earth did Moriah's bf do? Anyone know?

Kim is having quite the transformation, isn't she?!

I'm watching this new series, didn't realise there was a new one until I saw it had recorded on the Sky box.

Wow - Kim seems almost normal. Saying she wasn't sure her future was with Barry?!?!?!?!

No idea what Moriah's boyfriend (Max?) did - but I'm very curious to find out! Poor girl, she was so upset.

I'm glad Ethan & Olivia seem much happier now.

Kim comes across horribly. Her attempt to redeem herself by throwing Barry under the bus is horrible. She has gone from ultra conservative values and not allowing cola to dancing to Beastie Boys with the littler girls

Ethan fell out with his mom for being controlling. Last season, Barry was respectful of boundaries and did not attend the concert. Kim was determined to attend even though she had been asked not to. Even last night, Kim questioned Moriah about what happened with Max and Barry said she did not have to share if she wasn't ready.

Max admitted to kissing someone. He has since admitted more happened then deleted the post on IG. Moriah protected him for a while, He recently posted they were on the rocks. Moriah had said most of what he said was lies, and if they were in a funk it was news to her. It is hard seeing her so broken down, she needs to get angry then get over that shitbag.

Not so evolved that the menfolk can make the fecking dinner though. Barry and Issac are exempt. Next in line female Amber has to help with dinner because Lydia is working in the bank. Barry is clearly not used to making simple household decisions. Kim AND Barry volunteered one of their daughters to take over. Barry was a tit by asking "Are you coming home to help Amber?". Both parents are shit

I can’t warm to Kim in any way, sometimes I feel bad for judging considering what happened to one of their sons. I find she’s too desperate, desperate to keep everyone under her control, desperate to get her own way etc. I can’t help but think this whole separation is for a storyline. Kim and Barry should be taking acting lessons.

Sorry but I’m finding Kim so selfish, fair enough to want to find herself blah blah blah but she still has quite young DC, they’re not quite off-hand yet.

I was wondering that too. It just seems odd that Kim is suddenly dangling Nigel in front of Barry to make him jealous. Seems a bit far fetched.
