Do you love it

I'm being transported back to the early 80's and loving the twists and turns!!

And the stars

The wonderful Zoe Wannanaker....Joan Collins.... Brian Bleased....Sir J Gielgud.

Anyone else enjoying them?

I think The Harrowing, Cold Comfort, Once Removed and To Have and to Hold are the Inside No9 episodes that effected me the most but I don't think there's a single episode I didn't enjoy. Pace yourself if you can.

Longdistance · 15/01/2021 19:35

Are they in tv at the minute? I used to love watching them and the original Twilight Zones.

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 16/01/2021 11:35

longdistance

It is channel 11 on freebies I think - sky arts?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/01/2021 12:11

TotU - a blasy from the past there Grin

Inside No9 - love them . Some episodes I had to watch a couple of times to twig and there are lots I'll watch over and over .

And of course - The Black Hare
Anyone know where it was on Stakeout ?

bruffin · 16/01/2021 12:14

Love them, caught one with David Cassidy playing twins the other day

Clickncollect · 18/01/2021 21:49

Just watched lamb to the slaughter due to this thread! Will watch Royal Jelly another time and I will avoid The Flypaper!
Any other episode recommendations for takes of the unexpected? I don’t like things to be too disturbing...

CeeceeBloomingdale · 18/01/2021 21:53

We were just talking about TOTU last night, I didn't realise Sky Arts show them, go glad I read this. I also love Roald Dahl short stories.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 18/01/2021 21:55

Skin was always my favourite

kerkyra · 16/05/2021 11:18

I'm glued to to sky art every Sunday morning, they are still going strong

Housewife2010 · 17/05/2021 17:42

The Eavesdropper with Dorothy Tutin is a good one.

newnortherner111 · 18/05/2021 17:38

In the early days Anglia TV used to film them locally. My dad went for a meeting in Norwich, took a wrong turn and ended up meeting Telly Savalas, who appeared in one tale in 1981.

Housewife2010 · 18/05/2021 22:15

Love that!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 18/05/2021 22:19

As the perfect murder Lamb to the Slaughter is right up there

I always lived reading Skin and the one with the lighter and cutting fingers off?

SirSamuelVimes · 18/05/2021 22:20

Ooh back in the day I used to teach Lamb to the Slaughter to year 8, it was so much fun. Lovely little three or four lessons worth of reading / work and then watch it on a very precious department owned dvd that was tracked like it was the crown jewels!

So much fun. They always loved it.

The Landlady one was brilliant too, so creepy. I like how Dahl made these seemingly meek and mild women absolutely ruthless, effective killers. Grin

ssd · 18/05/2021 22:20

The theme tune still scares me

CassandraTrotter · 18/05/2021 22:23

I watched Skin as a child and still remember it. My mother really let us watch inappropriate tv.

Flissitytricity · 18/05/2021 22:36

My guilty pleasure! Some of them are quite silly but I watch them all and saw them first time round. Too many favourites to mention. I have been known to do the naked lady dance when the music starts but I am usually dressed. Grin

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 18/05/2021 22:49

search, record, entire series!

and it's on at 4.05 AM so not going to clash with any of dh's shite!

Thanks for the heads up OP!

I used to love watching them as a child...another 70's mother with no idea of appropriate tv viewing! Although...I just looked them up and it says 1979, so later than I thought, I do remember watching them regularly!

Rummikub · 18/05/2021 23:02

Royal jelly!
That baby..

I don’t think I could watch them again but did enjoy them growing up

Shorthairlady · 18/05/2021 23:17

There was a marathon of them today on Sky Arts. While the theme tune used to scare me silly as a child now I hear it for what it is - a hauntingly beautiful melody.

WhyWhyWhyMum · 18/05/2021 23:21

For all you fans (if you've not already watched it!) can I recommend Black Mirror

Viviennemary · 18/05/2021 23:25

Blue Marigold girl is my favourite. Also the one about the poisoned chocolates.

CallieJones · 19/05/2021 14:55

I liked the Fly Paper. There was an episode with Miriam Margolys in.
Inside No 9 favourites are Sardines, 12 days of Christine and Death be not Proud

mainsfed · 19/05/2021 14:57

The weirdest one for me is the Royal Jelly one - when you know you know! Wink

Onetraumaatatimeplease · 19/05/2021 15:01

Love it. The fly is my favourite, watched it as a young teen, terrifying. Anybody else think inside number nine is like a modern day tales of the unexpected? A lot darker but the plot twists are something else, I'm literally 2 thirds through before I 'get it' and even then I'm mostly wrong Grin
