I went to mount school in the late 80s as did my older sister. But yes the mount documentary was something else, I had relatives feature in it Blush. My childhood was spent down mount woods.

Regardless of the actual murders, it's becoming clear that the son and wife had a horrific home life with John Cooper.

Elderflower14 · 12/01/2021 23:03

I was watching tonight but had a long distance drama with ds2 and his freezer to contend with at the same time... His poor son!

Loving it, I googled the actual murders so I understand the story lines, it was interesting that when they showed the picture of John Cooper it was of the actual man and not the actor, also there is a drawing and a image of him (don't want to spoil) which was from the original investigation. Got confused about the actor when I heard he was in the 3 musketeers I thought he was from the series and was the same guy who played Cormeron Strike but I was wrong

@OohKittens

I believe he was set up as was the person charged with the Clydach murders.
There a lot of that around where I live. People here don't think he did that at all
Deathraystare · 13/01/2021 14:55

I am enjoying it.

I loved it when he was in the police station and being interviewed, he tried to stare down the police woman but she held his gaze fast!

OohKittens · 13/01/2021 17:17

If people want to read into it all, the western telegraph (pembrokeshire paper) online have done links to their reports from when he was first charged and right the way through the trial. The book is also 99p in kindle form. Also I really suggest people watch the crime watch programme it's made up of the reports on both scoveston park and the coast path murders.

I missed the start of this episode. How did Pat die?

JaneJeffer · 13/01/2021 21:14

Natural causes to do with her heart.

Olympicfan · 13/01/2021 21:25

Thank you!

Lordamighty · 14/01/2021 09:07

One of the best things I have seen on TV for a while. The tension was incredible.

NewYearNewLockdown · 14/01/2021 10:16

I enjoyed it. It was a bit confusing at the start but improved as it went along.

OohKittens · 14/01/2021 11:20

The accents did annoy me. Nobody below the landsker line speaks with a welsh accent like that. My nannie was from Herbrandston but people swore she was cornish. It's a very different accent in the Milford area.

Twisique · 14/01/2021 14:25

How could they not think he was guilty with all that dna evidence?

JaneJeffer · 14/01/2021 14:49

Yes if they stitched him up they did a thorough job!

maudspellbody · 14/01/2021 17:30

Ooh! I watched this because I saw it discussed here and it wasn't until I got halfway through the final part that I realise I know the prosecuting QC well in real life. He's a close friend of my D Dad.

I didn't find it slow or boring at all.

hopeishere · 14/01/2021 17:38

The script was very clunky though!

Elderflower14 · 14/01/2021 20:31

Documentary on Clydach Murders

OohKittens · 14/01/2021 20:50

@Elderflower14 that documentary is very good, I've seen it before

Elderflower14 · 14/01/2021 20:53

I've seen it now. Didn't know much about it but the evidence is definetly shaky..

I can never feel tension in these programmes based on real life cases, we know the outcome already.
GetOffYourHighHorse · 15/01/2021 11:26

I thought this was so well made. It was respectful to the victims and their families, didn't gratuitously focus on the violence. The police involved seemed to care. Unbelievable that the shorts would hold the vital clue.

There are so many people who are convinced he's innocent. The family of the victims however don't feel the same. It's a very emotional subject around the area where it happened. A lot of doubt has been cast on the convictions but they won't reopen it

I thought so as well. And it managed to create drama and tension while being respectful and with what was actually some very dry stuff about forensics.

Whiskyinajar · 15/01/2021 12:16

If he's innocent then I am the Queen.

He had clothing belonging to one of the victims with the blood of the other on it. His shotgun had the blood of coastal path victims on and in it.

Don't know as much about the other cases but he's definitely guilty of one lot. Nasty piece of work.
