SCD - best dances ever

rollonoctober · 15/11/2020 16:42

I watched the first few series of SCD back in the day but haven't watched for years. But then this year I needed some lighthearted Saturday night tv so have been watching for the first time in about 10-12 years.

I'm really enjoying it and have been lurking on the threads on here too which are great. On those, there are loads of mentions of good dances from previous series that I've missed and, having watched a few, I'd really like to watch some more of the classics that I've missed.

So hit me with the best strictly dances from across all the series, would love to see some more of the good ones!

Jay and Aliona: jive, tango.
Danny and Oti: samba, viennese waltz. Also have a soft spot for their cha cha.
Sophie and Brendan: charleston.
Harry and Aliona: quickstep.
Abbey and Aljaz: waltz.
Louis and Flavia: showdance, salsa, charleston.
Faye and Giovanni: charleston, couples choice, showdance.
Georgia and Giovanni: charleston.
Debbie and Giovanni: Argentine Tango.
Kellie and Kevin: charleston.
Alexandra and Gorka: paso doble.

So many great dances out there!

piperatthegates · 16/11/2020 08:17

Apart from the ones already mentioned (most of which I love) I also often rewatch
Charles & Karen - Samba
Ashley Roberts & Pasha Jive
Kellie & Kevin Viennese Waltz to Oom Pah Pah from Oliver
Laura & Gio - Tango
Ashley Taylor Dawson & Ola - Jive
Austin & Erin - Jive & Paso
Matt Baker & Aliona - Jive
Probably loads more Smile

Denise Van Outen Charleston I really liked.

Almost everything Oti does!

DougRossIsTheBoss · 16/11/2020 08:31

Kara and Artem rhumba and AT
and any training footage you can find on old episodes of ITT.
Great choreography and dancing but mainly for their relationship

It's the cutest/ hottest thing in the world. English rose and gorgeous Russian dancer falling in love on live TV. It's like Mills and Boon come to life and I am a sucker for it. Both were certainly single so no curse worries so beeb could show them flirting etc

They were together for a few years afterwards (although not now- he's married one of his DWTS partners) so it seems it was 'real'

Just had a look at Alexandra and Gorka’s AT it was great. In fact she was good at everything.
It’s a real shame that the media chose to attack Alexandra, she was a brilliant contestant.

VienneseWhirligig · 16/11/2020 12:11

I've just watched Brendan and Lisa's show dance. WTF?

thecatneuterer · 16/11/2020 12:21

There I four I rewatch over and over depending on my mood;

Jay's jive
Kara Tointon's (pink) rumba
Matt Baker and Aliona - VW
Ed Balls - Gangnam Style (never fails to make me smile)

pipnchops · 16/11/2020 12:50

Kara and Artems dances were awesome, particularly their salsa and argentine tango.

Othering · 16/11/2020 12:58

Rachel Stephens and Vincent's rumba to You do something to me.

wowfudge · 16/11/2020 13:06

Two of my favourites already mentioned: Rachel Steven's rumba and Denise VO's Charleston. There was also the dance where Oti(?) ran along a pier and jumped into her partner's arms. Cannot for the life of me remember the partner or the dance.

It was her American Smooth to Misty Blue with Danny Mac. It still takes my breath away and I probably watch it about once a month.
augustusglupe · 16/11/2020 14:28

Oti and Danny Mac's Samba to Magalenha

the80sweregreat · 16/11/2020 14:38

Jay mcguinness 's jive to pulp fiction gets my vote.

wowfudge · 16/11/2020 15:13

Thanks DigOut I thought it was Danny Mac - he was brilliant.

Frazzled2207 · 16/11/2020 15:47

he wasn't technically nearly as good as some other winners but Chris HOllins' charleston with I think it was Aliona was a classic too.

Frazzled2207 · 16/11/2020 15:53

apols it was with Ola Jordan

ChristmasinJune · 16/11/2020 20:27

I've only recently got into strictly because frankly 2020 needed the glitter!
I've saved this thread and watch one of the recommended dances on YouTube whenever I feel a bit down.... thank you for starting this thread!

Shmithecat2 · 16/11/2020 21:45

Oh, just thought of another - Natalie and Artem's American Smooth (when they danced it in the Final). Amazing. Can't find it on YouTube anymore though 😕

marmitegirl01 · 16/11/2020 22:41

Matthew & Alesha cha cha. A-ma-zing!

Bohoboo · 16/11/2020 22:59

Karim and Amy Jive to hairspray

Runkle · 16/11/2020 23:51

Oti and Danny's Samba and their Salsa - I watch them at least once a month
Oti and Danny's American Smooth - that jump at the end!
Caroline and Pasha's Charlston
Faye and Giovanni's Couples Choice to Fever
Ashley and Pasha's Showdance
Ashley and Pasha's Charlston
Jay and Aliona's Rhumba is so simple but exquisite.
Jay and Aliona's Jive - epic
Pro Dances - Sweet Dreams from Halloween 2014, Fashion week inspired dance to Vogue and Fashion, Gorka and Nadiya dancing to Pillow talk by Zayn Malik, Group Dance to Believer by Imagine Dragons, Prince tribute.

sunnyday1976 · 17/11/2020 00:23

Scott and Natalie's jive, and most of the dances listed above!!

CornishYarg · 17/11/2020 09:30

Tom Chambers and Camilla's show dance; it was unexpected and different. It probably helped that it came after the car crash that was Lisa and Brendan's show dance!

Pellewsmate · 17/11/2020 10:54

Chelsee Healy & Pasha - Quickstep
Jake Wood & Janette - Salsa and Samba
Lisa Riley & Robin - Cha Cha
Danny & Oti - Charleston
Kelvin and Oti - Cha Cha (hips should not do that)

And for perfection the professional guest Cha Cha by Joanna Leunis and Michael Malitowski, it shows that the celebrities are really amateurs.

Frazzled2207 · 17/11/2020 11:39

There is one of those cheesy countdowns on YouTube which is annoying as far too much warbling - they show the dance but mostly talk over it. Anyway many of the above are mentioned but the winner is....Oti and Danny Mac’s samba. It is quite something. But Danny was never really an amateur.
