What can I watch, please? I like drama, like comedy, no horror and low on violence...

I loved The Bodyguard and The Capture.

I loved The 100 and sci fi, Roadkill and Line of Duty.

I'm watching Strike but am quite disappointed by them.

What fabulous TV series am I missing!

Just finished The Last Word on Netflix - very funny, very poignant and very enjoyable

ladybird69 · 25/10/2020 00:44

@Tinseltrauma thanks for the heads up. I watched No Angels years ago and loved it. I’m going to rewatch it now. It’s a great series.

LaLaLandIsNoFun · 25/10/2020 00:48

Dr Foster
Big Bang Theory
House
There was a fairly recent series that disused in around CCTV being messed with for political aims and a man getting caught up in the mix which was excellent by I can’t remember the name
Haunting of Bly Manor (Hill House is far creepier)
Bodyguard

LaLaLandIsNoFun · 25/10/2020 00:49

"Big Little Lies£ that does look good.

MollynAlly Sense8 - looks intriguing. I wasn't a big Matrix fan, is it a bit like that?

allmotorcyclenumptiness The Last Word - looks interesting.

barcodescanner Shtisel sounds interesting. I quite like religious dramas.

I absolutely LOVED Keeping Faith. Still sad it's finished 😓

barcodescanner · 25/10/2020 05:06

@Italiangreyhound
Shtisel has two seasons, they are filming the third. Although not a comedy it did make us laugh out loud in places. We found we really cared about the characters. Soaps should take note!

MaryBoBary · 25/10/2020 05:10

I'm watching the a word at the moment about a family learning their son has autism. There are 3 series on I player and it's brilliant.

Tinseltrauma · 25/10/2020 08:19

@Italiangreyhound I be watched Er etc too and agree, they get a bit samey after a while. No Angels isn't like that though, it's more about the nurses lives, it's very good.
Enjoy @ladybird69 !

SmartPinkShoes · 25/10/2020 10:07

For comedy, Shitts Creek (takes a few episodes to appreciate the characters, but it's wonderful) and The Duchess.

MagnoliatheMagnificent · 25/10/2020 10:21

Some great ideas here. I just watched 'Life'on BBC - very good. 'Jane the Virgin' is better than I expected, Jane is really good and it has some very funny bits. The A word is really good.
Greys Anatomy (Amazon) I really like medical dramas.

sleepfortheweek · 27/10/2020 22:35

I think you misread my my post, I said Jane the Virgin 🤣

SleeptightDaisy · 27/10/2020 23:15

I really liked Us on iPlayer with the fab Tom Hollander and Saskia Reeves the actors who played the younger selves were fab too, also liked life and the recent strike.
What about some oldies life on Mars, ashes to ashes?

FredaFrogspawn · 27/10/2020 23:20

Absolutely adored The Queens Gambit which is a 7 part drama about a highly gifted girl/woman in the chess tournament world. Sounds very dry but it’s wonderful! Costumes and sets gorgeous and a really satisfying storyline. No violence and no rape/terrified women. Just a great strong female central character.

FredaFrogspawn · 27/10/2020 23:21

Sorry meant to say it’s on Netflix .

Sweetchillijam · 27/10/2020 23:27

The Crown, Offspring, Sex Education, Gilmore Girls - Netflix

Little Fires everywhere, This is us -Amazon

Life on BBC

Starisnotanumber · 28/10/2020 18:27

Norsemen on Netflix the everyday story of a group of vikings.
Doesn't sound like much but very funny set in a viking village with the villagers more concerned about hair loss and social climbing rather than going out killing people

Tablefor4 · 29/10/2020 10:47

This is Us. Bring your own tissues!
Dead to Me - also v enjoyable. Netflix or Prime

Katinski · 30/10/2020 14:28

The Twelve, All4. A Walter Presents production, background stories of the people picked to be on a jury in Ghent, over 10 epis. in Watched them all yesterday afternoon/evening, completely missing a RL drama going on in our street Grin
Norsemen looks good, so that's tonight sorted...

SophieB100 · 30/10/2020 20:13

Last Tango In Halifax
BBC I Player - all series from the start.
Best TV comedy/drama ever.

StevieBudd · 30/10/2020 20:19

Last tango in Halifax
Bodyguard
Ashes to ashes
Life on Mars
Happy valley
My favourite Schitt’s Creek - takes a few episodes to get into it but it’s fantastic.
Greys anatomy
Orange is the new black

RaininSummer · 30/10/2020 20:21

Seconding The Queen's Gambit. I was excellent. Now watching mindless salacious fluff about a couple who form a threesome called You Me Her.

ComeTheFuck0nBridg3t · 30/10/2020 20:23

I came on to say This Is Us and can see it’s been recommended already.

It’s just lovely!

I’m just starting Schitts Creek.
