What was the last thing you watched that made you laugh?

I have been on a bit of a medical documentary binge and realised I have no things which make me laugh.

More recent things I have liked Included what we do in the shadows (film better but series good), this country, motherland (sort of).

I don't mind a tragi-comic bent, like fleabag or nighty night (although that thing Julia Davis did for sky was erk, I was a bit wtf even though I usually like dark/weird).

Any missed gems?

Gogglebox makes me laugh

Nannyamc · 17/10/2020 22:47

Watched the chase bloomers tonight
Bradley Walsh was hilarious
Very funny had not laughed much since god knows when!!!!

OperationallySound · 17/10/2020 22:50

Another view for Stath lets flats. The first series made me cry laughing.

RJnomore1 · 17/10/2020 22:51

Came on to say two doors down but see it’s in the first few posts.

GinAtMerlottes · 17/10/2020 22:53

Ghosts
Schitts Creek
New Girl
The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 18/10/2020 23:35

Stath is brilliant. One of the only things my kids will all watch.

“No doors, just ropes” is now a common saying in this house.

MummytoCSJH · 18/10/2020 23:47

I'm half way through re-watching 'two pints of lager and a packet of crisps'. Some classic moments I'd totally forgotten have made me crack up!

Mytholmroyd · 19/10/2020 00:21

Just come across Norsemen on netflicks - absolutely hilarious. It's a parody of Vikings and is brilliant!

ladybird69 · 19/10/2020 02:17

Where can I watch staged? Do I need to get netflix ?

AppleJane · 19/10/2020 07:08

Staged is on the BBC iplayer.

I watched all 6 episodes yesterday. It's hilarious, quite a few laugh out moments.

Hopefully one day covid will be a distant memory and we'll watch this back to remind us!

LadyOfTheCanyon · 19/10/2020 17:00

I've just started Ghosts. It's lovely warm comedy, the sort that the BBC used to excel at. Didn't think I'd like it but I'm really enjoying it. Even shed a tear at Pat's "Death Day" episode because I'm a sentimental fule.

DulciUke · 19/10/2020 20:05

The Good Place. It's on Netflix.

justthecat · 19/10/2020 20:11

The middle , makes me laugh and get it everytime with the mum perspective

@Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket

Catastrophe was great
Came on to say that.
notacooldad · 21/10/2020 08:58

I laughed at a re run of Still game last night.
We watched ' what we do in the shadows' again over the weekend. Still makes me laugh a lot!

IntermittentParps · 21/10/2020 09:30

Threads like this make me realise I don't watch comedy any more. I miss stuff like Black Books and Green Wing.

For a laugh these days I tend to watch docs.
Mortimer & Whitehouse Gone Fishing is utterly charming (and the filming is SO beautiful), and Grayson's Art Club was heartwarming and thought-provoking as well as funny.

Sue Perkins travelling the Mexico/US border was good; not always a laugh as she does look at serious subjects, but she's such good company. It was fascinating.

ScribblingMilly · 21/10/2020 09:40

For actual laughing out loud I'd pick Brooklyn 99 - all series are on Netflix - early Seinfields on All4 and Gone Fishing.

OohKittens · 22/10/2020 00:24

Mortified on netflix, it's people reading from their diaries from when they were young teens out loud to an audience.

josbd · 22/10/2020 01:14

How could I possibly have forgotten Green Wing?? That was hilarious!
Difficult to find funny, original humour at the moment.

However, a little while ago, while bedridden, I thought I woule see what was on the torrent/download sites. And the first series I found was "Sex Education" I didn't expect to like it. It was absolutely hilarious. Very well written. Great acting........ oh, and anyone seen Gillian Anderson do comedy? Very well, as it happens!!

"Dead To Me". Christina Applegate (another I did not suspect comic tendencies, yet once again utterly brilliant)

Each of these has two series, with an option for another. Give them a watch!

mrssunshinexxx · 22/10/2020 01:30

Derek on Netflix (also made me sob too!)

MountainPeakGeek · 22/10/2020 01:42

Was about to say Schitt's Creek, but with the proviso that I find it particularly funny because it reminds me so much of where I live. But it looks like several previous posters are suggesting it too, so maybe it's not necessary to live in a "Schitt's Creek"-alike town to fully appreciate the humour Grin

DorotheaHomeAlone · 22/10/2020 01:52

Murder in Successville is stupid funny in a way that makes me lol.

ladybird69 · 22/10/2020 02:15

Mom with Anna Farris. Such good writing.

Graphista · 22/10/2020 03:41

Downtown Abbey? Thought that was a stuffy period drama?

Ooh no! Worth watching for maggie smiths one liners alone! Plot lines include death during unmarried coitus and condom reuse!

Another vote for catastrophe

Recently rewatched golden girls which I still found very funny!

The good place is utterly bonkers

Gilmore girls I love too

IntermittentParps · 22/10/2020 09:46

Downtown is often unintentionally funny.

I find a lot of things are best watched with someone else/a household who are all willing to join in with heckling/running commentary/doing your own 'hilarious' dialogue over the top of the programme etc.
