Tonight's was a bit heavy on the snot'n'tears, wasn't it? If anyone can devise a way of Fletch responding quickly and successfully to his treatment and stopping Essie thinking that she should be able to carry on life as normal whilst she's undergoing chemo, please implement your plan ASAP.

Medani's torso was the only redeeming feature of this episode. I've no idea what the pills he bought were - any ideas?

I was annoyed they let me produce emotion for Ric who then survived AGAIN!

He is indestructible!
spiderlight · 11/11/2020 17:09

I really don't like what they've done with Sascha :( Why can nobody in Holby be allowed a healthy grieving process without a massive side-order of drama and being shouted at by their closest friends?

HH is back though! That was the highlight for me of what otherwise felt like a very forced episode.

SleepingStandingUp · 11/11/2020 17:33

@Mixedupworld she's in bed, sheets pulled up to her chest and he's sitting on the side of the bed putting maybe shoes or something on. Def code for he got out of that bed

Funkypolar · 11/11/2020 18:06

Hated it! And the clapping, urgh.

SleepingStandingUp · 11/11/2020 18:11

But the clapping is exactly what was shown in the news that hospitals were doing

Funkypolar · 11/11/2020 18:20

Just one big NHS propaganda piece IMO.

SoupDragon · 11/11/2020 18:24

It wasn't propaganda, it was a fairly honest filling in what happened over the Missing months. Clapping included. I liked that the staff didn't seem thrilled with the clapping. More bemused.

How was highlighting the lack of PPE propaganda for example?

Funkypolar · 11/11/2020 18:27

People have different opinions...I hated it but it doesn’t mean you are wrong for liking it! Smile

SleepingStandingUp · 11/11/2020 18:42

Holby has always used Ric etc to do little rants about how the NHS is treated badly, for me this seems the same - it's reflecting on how tall doctors and nurses must have felt but obviously they can't do that true justice in 45 minutes, no physical touching and months to cover.

Will be interesting to see where it goes from here as normally there's so much touching

SoupDragon · 11/11/2020 19:16

I know I'm not wrong for liking it Confused

Housemum · 11/11/2020 20:02

I found it odd and uncomfortable - and I'd almost forgotten things like out of date PPE/supplies running out.

FirstOfficerDouglas · 11/11/2020 20:51

I didn't really enjoy it at the time - and felt I missed the escapism of usual Holby. It was slow and my concentration wandered. (Missed that Ange and Fletch split and also missed the 3 month lag between the baby being born and the ending). BUT - it sort of stayed with me. It was eerie and actually somehow necessary. I liked it more afterwards and have been reflecting on it.

Looking forward to next episode - whatever it brings

ThornAmongstRoses · 11/11/2020 21:26

I don’t know how I felt about it.

The scene where Ange was in the car park shouting at Cameron, and it showed her looking awful with red pressure marks around her eyes and cheeks to depict how horrendous the mask wearing is, made me feel unnerved for some reason.

I also found myself thinking that considering how poorly that pregnant woman was, even when she was awake and talking but being lots of respiratory support, I was surprised they hadn’t wanted to do a caesarean then. It’s clear she was very sick, and deteriorating quickly so why would they think it was best to just just leave the baby inside her? Shrelt a medical team would know what danger that baby was in and should have been talking to the mother and asking for permission to perform a section in order to give her baby the best chance?

And yes - absolutely ridiculous to see Ric leaving the hospital with a baby in a car seat so he could take it home in preparation for him to escort it to Ghana. In some ways Holby is amazing.....but in other ways it’s just lazy, nonsensical script writing.

However.....for all my moans, I’m so glad it’s back!!!!!!

Interesting. I did don't see it as the staff feeling tall but rather a bit perplexed about the clapping while they had other things on their minds.

I am really glad it was a one off. I agree with the pp who said they're looking for escape in Holby. It felt too close to home.

Also hate what they've done to Sasha.

SleepingStandingUp · 12/11/2020 09:11

Sorry, useless typo.
I meant I thought it was a reflection of how all doctor's and nurses feel, as a massive generalisation - let down by the govt or PPE, trying to get by anyway, angry, perplexed.

SleepingStandingUp · 12/11/2020 09:14

I think because they use their episodes every now and again to get a dig in when they think the NHS are being treated unfairly it was right to cover it and I think it was clever to do a massive time hop where nothing major happened (Ric left, Flange split, Sacha... 👎) but now we can get back to Hot Doc and how to Kill Cam etc

FatimaMunchy · 12/11/2020 09:37

Surely this series will give Cameron his come uppance

SleepingStandingUp · 12/11/2020 10:03

I saw the look on Anges face when he ran from the dying patient but tbh I think I'm on Cams side. How long is it since his Mom died and he wasn't with her?

TheOneTheOnlyPedroPony · 12/11/2020 20:40

Apologies if I've missed someone else mention this in the comments (I have read them!) but did anyone else notice Ric leave the hospital THEN put a mask on, get in a taxi then take the mask off Grin

I missed that but have seen similar on other TV programmes. Emmerdale especially....put mask on, walk into shop, take mask off.
