Anyone other than me and a couple of others on the Selling Sunset thread discovered this awesome reality series? The charter clients are insane, the crew is so bitchy (towards each other and the guests) and it’s just the most excellent escapism.

I’ve only got about into 4 episodes of captain Sandy and so far I like her but I have to say captain Lee at the moment.

I like sailing yacht but that’s because I grew up sailing (not on yachts like that though 🤣🤣).

I have finally found my people. I need to go and watch all of these again!

Can’t believe no one has said Colin (from BD Med) for their favourite crew

I’m only on the beginning of s2 BDM so haven’t come across Colin yet 😊

Colin is so vanilla. And oh I like Ashton total tool but fancy the pants off him.

My favourite is captain Sandy. I like how she gives time & a shit to the crew to give them the opportunity on the bridge. And she gives out bubbly during the tip meeting.

Worst charter guests that fucked up family where the daughter and the parents and their respective partners all went on vacation together

I used to like captain Lee more than I do now. Captain Sandy is big on helping people to move up which is nice. I think Glenn is lovely! But very different as less authoritative and more practical but then I guess that’s the nature of the two different yachts.

If you could merge all of them it would be great!

Worst chef is Mila then I would say Leon. I would love to try Ben’s food!

The problem with captain Lee especially in the later seasons is that he basically regards Kate as a daughter. So therefore he reprimands her if needed but at the end of the day he will always have her back. And that's not a good thing when you live and work on a boat like that.

Captain Lee is my favourite but from series two onwards, he was a bit of a dick in series one

Adrienne was the worst! And when she makes her cameo in the next season....wow. I think those could be some of the worst guests actually

Anastasia was not given enough credit for stepping in to the chef role. The crew didn't realise they would be up shit creek without a paddle without her. Like the total opposite of when Leon left and Rocky stepped in with her grenadine oysters

Adrienne's appearance in season 2 and that whole saga was crackers.

I've just remembered Kyle. I thought he was actually a nasty piece of work for the way he treated Sierra

Captain Sandy is my personal favourite out of the BD/BDE/BDS series however i do love all the Captains.

I hated Kyle. He was such a full of himself knobber.

Was watching last night and thinking it’s so not OK that the men are treated like sexual objects and everyone is fine with it but then I see how some of them (Ashton) treat female crew and I get over it. Generally, though i think the crew are treated terribly by guests.

I couldn’t stand Hannah. She should never go near alcohol, she made so many nights out into nightmares. I’d have stayed well away from the crew on my day off!

Some of the guests were dreadful and made themselves look idiots on tv. I can’t believe they’d not sue Below Deck for showing them so badly- they must get the charter practically for nothing to be filmed.

Yeah Honeyroar. I'm just watching one where a woman refuses to share a room and the Captain gives up his quarters so one woman doesn't have to sleep in the sky lounge! Selfish cow. God I love this show. Can't believe I never tried it before. It's all I've watched for the past week.

I know it’s dreadfully addictive! In the States some channels run it episode after episode all day and I’ve been known to sit and watch it all day!

I've got Hayu so watching it on that. Usually just get Hayu when RHONY is running so thought I'd watch this between episodes and now I'm obsessed with it.

I want to know how cross some of the guests are at how they are portrayed. Or if they just don't give a shit, or if they have the trip for next to nothing

Can't make up my mind about Hannah. Sometimes I love her sometimes I think she's a total bitch. I think out of all the stews I think I see myself in her the most. I think I'd get on with her off the boat but wouldn't want to work with or for her. Kate on the other hand I wouldn't be friends with her off the boat but would love to work with her

I wonder how 'Shame Cocoon' Woman feels... Also that Brandy woman that had to be kayaked on her back from the beach to the boat and was blacked out for most of the trip then woke up at midnight and asked for a mimosa

I’ll never understand why the family with the kids actually came back. First charter they got stranded on a beach with no drinks, the mil gets dropped on a rock and the kid cuts his foot open on glass, but they can back for a second go. Do the tv network deliberately find guests? Or do they get a really good discount?

Also why do the crew never really come back? I would have thought that an established captain/stew like lee and Kate would have a network of strong candidates each season, but they just get absolute idiots every time or people with zero experience and wonder why they are shit. Sort of wonder if the TV show find people IYSWIM?

Kate’s an utter bitch though. Ideas above her station! She’s far to close with lee and she comes across as untouchable, when Caroline leaves and she raises a grievance but capt lee doesn’t really do anything just says we will never know what happened But I do think she’s good at the job, and I think she just has no room for idiots. I suppose a big part of her problem is she doesn’t have the time to train new people each time.

Yes Kyle is awful! When he first comes in and goes on a date with seirra then slags her off and is just nasty when she doesn’t have any interest in him. Then he comes swanning in on the next series like some kind of fucking hero with his shitty shorts on

Love Below Deck! Captain Sandy was my favourite until I watched the Sailboat series and now it's Captain Glenn. He's very chilled out and helps the crew out with their chores. Also find Byron (the engineer) very entertaining.

Ah yes, the image of Mila's nachos will stay with me for some time... they make our local cinema's plasticky nacho effort look good
