@Ritascornershop did you ever see Made in Canada with Rick Mercer? Hilarious. Every once in a while I check out the streaming services and ITunes to see if it is available.

I also loved Twitch City, with Don McKellar. That was a bit dark but very funny nevertheless.

I find we are at our best when we make things for Canadians. However, I don't find Schift's Creek to be particularly Canadian. I can't think of any Canadian references. They have clearly avoided any specifics, just like Orphan Black, another great Canadian show. (Although I believe that was a Can/US production.)

Mascotte · 17/05/2020 20:27

Yes!! Love it.. trying to ration it 😃

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 17/05/2020 20:29

I started watching the first series of this by chance yesterday I am now two series in, I just love it. It so far has been a great light hearted find

Stellaris22 · 17/05/2020 21:26

So glad to see this thread, also binge watched the final series. It was so perfect and I've absolutely loved this show, glad it ended on a high although I'm absolutely going to miss it.

Pinkarsedfly · 17/05/2020 21:30

Just finished. Lovely. I’ll miss them.

Ritascornershop · 17/05/2020 21:55

@Andylion I have seen Made in Canada but it was ages ago and I can’t recall if I liked it! Twitch City I haven’t seen.

I think being Canadian I can’t assess properly if it seems Canadian or not. I think the vibe of it is. It’s got that fondness for the characters that Northern Exposure had, but a little more loving.

TimRigginsHasMyHeart · 18/05/2020 12:33

Oh it was just the perfect ending to the show. Loved, loved, loved it. Completely feel good and just wonderful.

For anyone who has finished season 6, Sarah Bessey (Canadian author) wrote a benediction to Schitt’s Creek last month. (basically when it had just finished in Canada, but before it had started here) It contains a few small spoilers to the final season so if you don’t want to see them, don’t read it until you’ve finished watching the whole season.

Benediction for Schitt’s Creek

RuPaula · 20/05/2020 23:27

I’ve just finished it, I want to ask something, but it will be a spoiler if you haven’t seen it all???

caperplips · 21/05/2020 15:59

I have absolutely LOVED this entire series and am so sad it's all over now :-(

cushioncovers · 21/05/2020 22:24

There's a program on Netflix all about how they wrote it and the cast. It's lovely.

crosser62 · 21/05/2020 22:35

I have Moiyras voice in my head for most of the time.
I could easily put a moiyra quote to most situations .
Loved this programme.

Notmyrealname855 · 21/05/2020 22:41

Davvvvvvvid! (Shamelessly placemarking!)

Why can’t they just keep making them?! Thought from the title it’d be terrible but it’s such a sweet show. Ted the vet is on an episode of RPDR celebrity (in case RuPaula upthread hasn’t seen it)

Tezza1 · 22/05/2020 02:03

I apologise if someone has already mentioned it and I missed it, but here is a lovely clip of Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara singing a nominated song from "A Mighty Wind" at the 2004 Academy Awards:

Stellaris22 · 22/05/2020 07:46

Ted the vet is also in the Netflix version of Dirk Gently and he's brilliant in it.

cushioncovers · 22/05/2020 08:38

Did anyone else think Ted looked different in this last series?

KurriKawari · 22/05/2020 16:53

I love how the show surprises you. On paper, Alexis would be spoilt, materialist, childish etc and annoying but I love her and her touching moments with both David and Ted.

SomeBunnyovertheRainbow · 22/05/2020 21:07

I love this show

I think David is really hot

I’m not sure whether I like Moira! I didn’t in early series, thought she was tOk out there and not that great and actress, but I’m warming to her

Then again I didn’t know it was Canadian?!

KurriKawari · 22/05/2020 23:12

Moira is hilarious.
David is beautiful n his facial expressions are everything.
Even all the cast on the periphery like Twyla n Ronnie are fab.
And Patrick, well he is just everything.

SomeBunnyovertheRainbow · 23/05/2020 12:17

I haven’t finished season 6 yet but think this is the last season?!

Will need something similar so please share anything else you are enjoying Grin

AvocaLove · 23/05/2020 15:10

Dead to me is good. Also on Netflix. Season 2 has just been launched. Season 1 still on there.

AnyFucker · 23/05/2020 15:17

How would Moira's accent be described by Canadians ?

Ritascornershop · 23/05/2020 15:24

I’m Canadian. Moira’s accent is bizarre! She’s basically a Toronto or west coast accent overlaid with theatricality and some mid-Atlantic influence. I think Catherine O’Hara wanted her to sound like someone who wants to sound sophisticated (but being Moira just sounds batty). While plenty of us may sound mid-Atlantic (I probably do from living in England) absolutely no-one sounds like Mrs Rose. She is in every way a one-off.

AnyFucker · 23/05/2020 15:33

Thought so Grin

SomeBunnyovertheRainbow · 23/05/2020 17:03

I loved Dead to Me too

Yes I think she’s trying to sound British

Ritascornershop · 23/05/2020 17:26

I don’t think the character is trying to sound British per se (well, for one thing there is no one British accent), I think Moira has heard certain English and European accents and thought they sounded cultured and has cobbled them all together (over top of her natural Canadian speech) into one marvelous nonsense of an accent. Added to that if she had theatrical training there’s the over-enunciating certain words that a luvvie might take into their private life as a way to mark themselves as part of a tribe.
