Gangs of London, anyone?

Ive just started it but its so bloody violent it makes The Sopranos look like Disney? The story is good but I dont know if I can stomach it.

Agreed - that accent is distracting and awful! It’s like a 1950’s posh accent. I almost turned it off when he said his sister was a “tonic”. it makes him unbelievable, he’s not a gentleman ganster. I must prefer his brother in Animal Kingdom (less gore, more sex).

The special effects are great.

Ex-Londoner and have loved spotting the locations though.

That fight scene in the pub before/during the funeral reminded me of trying to emulate the superbly choreographed fight scenes in The Raid.

I'm currently on episode 2 watching the scene at the travellers camp site

We've watched up to episode 5 and I'm totally gripped.

To anybody enjoying Gangs of London, have you seen Gomorrah? Very similar storyline and level of violence.

Gomorrah is fabulous...and great music.

How beautiful is Joe Cole though? - He's like a male Scarlett Johnanson.

Apparently Emmett Scanlan was also in Peaky Blinders but I don't remember him in that. I think it was harsh to kill off Jack the Driver, if it was to prevent him telling about the pregnant bit on the side Floriana, everybody seems to know about her now anyway!

There's going to be a prequel to Gomorrah about the early life of Ciro.

@EasyLifer In Peaky Blinders he was the one setting up the bet rigging on the football/ boxing matches in the last series.
He's a fantastic actor and im surprised they killed him off early.

I never particularly found Joe Cole attractive in Peaky Blinders (probably because everyone is overshadowed by perfect Cillian) but I thought he was very sexy in this. Like a PP, my DH also said that he looks dead behind the eyes though.

Just finished episode 5, loving it so far!

We're loving it but yes, VERY brutal, and the gay orgy scene in episode 2 was a bit of an eye opener in more ways that one!

I think it's because the lead character is so well spoken and yet dead behind the eyes that it makes him more terrifying IMO. Looking forward to the rest of the series. Agree he was completely overshadowed in Peaky Blinders by the divine Cillian.

I really enjoyed it, but it was brutal. I admit I had to fast forward a few of the torture scenes.

Loved the episode where the gypsy boy was in the safe house. Started off as not much happening episode and built and built and built.

God yes, episode five was the best bit of TV I have watched in a long time.

I am enjoying it but how about a bit of "show not tell"? We get it! Finn was THE Most Important Gangster In London, Shaun is only interested in revenge, Elliot is a tortured soul, You Guys Rule London! etc etc etc. The plot is great, the gun battles and violence are like nothing I have ever seen done before but I just wish they wouldn't keep bashing us over the head with the salient plot points and devices. I feel like it could be so much better if the moments between the battles and interactions between the characters were more understated.

I watched all of Top Boy & loved it. Is is more violent that this?
