This show is what first persuaded me to try cheesecake. I'd always assumed I wouldn't like it.

Does anyone remember Empty Nest? It was about the GG neighbour, I think it was shown the same night as them.

I didn’t think I knew Empty Nest but when I googled it I did remember. It was the paediatrician and her had a wisecracking nurse with a very strong southern accent. I loved her. I didn’t realise it was connected to Golden Girls.

I loved that show first time around. I sometimes watch old episodes on YouTube and I even love the theme tune it somehow takes me back to a different era. All the female leads wonderful in their own way. And so funny.

I'm loving it. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Life was very different back then. I'd give anything to swap places with Blanche, Rose, Dorothy or Sophia right now and live in that lovely house, eat cheesecake and drink ice tea whilst relaxing on a sunlounger in the garden!

What was it that Blanche called the patio? Was it the lanai or something similar? I lived in a ground floor flat share in Clapham and we used to watch Golden Girls and joke that the tiny concrete yard out the back of our flat was the 'lanai'.

Yes you're right it wasn't really a garden. More a lanai like you say or a veranda.

I fancy a lanai @BlackAmericanoNoSugar. We have a narrow strip on slabs in our back garden that struggle to even be a patio. It shall henceforth be referred to as the lanai

LOVE IT! My bestie and me have always called ourselves the golden girls and well end up sharing a plce like them one day-only wish it WAS in Florida!

I watched this with my Gran when I was a child maybe 9 or 10 and I've watched it this week. The theme tune takes me straight back to that time, when we be snuggled on the sofa on Friday night, I almost had a tear remembering. Anyway it's so funny! Wittily written.

I didn't realise it was back on, I'll have to watch it - loved the Golden Girls. Blanche looking out of the window at the rain 'reminds me of my first kiss'

Omg The Golden Girls. Thank you so much for the heads up OP. I loved that programme.

I'm going to set to record it when I finish typing and hope I can watch the one I missed on catch up.

I used to watch it with my 2 DDs and we all loved it. Must let them know too.

I've often wondered why no one has rerun it.
