It's a three part drama about the Who Wants to be a Millionaire coughing scandal in 2001.

Anyone else planning on watching it?

The actual show is on You Tube now.

Guilty as hell - very suspicous behaviour and body language.

You can see how pissed off his wife is.

(Granted this is the 'edited' version - but if you were looking at behaviour, especially when answering unknown questions, and looking at other contestants who have been at similar levels, he is very very suspicious)

Is it slightly bad taste to be airing this now, amidst a pandemic where one of the main symptoms is a persistent cough? (Half joking!)

Enjoyable series. Michael Sheen was outstanding as Tarrantula.

LizzieMacQueen · 21/04/2020 11:57

Tarrantula ? Great predictive text (assuming this wasn't deliberate)

IF the court case shown in the TV show was a true representation of the actual court case I fail to see how the jury could have been convinced beyond reasonable doubt that the Ingrams were guilty.
Me too (although I do note WickedlyPetite's comment on this).
If I'd been on the jury, just the fact that there were 192 coughs in the show would be enough for me to conclude that I couldn't be 'sure' enough to convict. And it was only a majority verdict, not unanimous.
As for the Secret Barrister piece, while it takes apart the 'trimmings' of TV court cases (pacing, gavels, barristers testifying etc), I can't see anywhere where it undermines any of the actual evidence presented.

Saladaysior · 22/04/2020 16:57

It’s an itv drama, not a documentary about the court case. It certainly had all the hallmarks of being embellished to make it more appealing to a tv audience... I’ve been on jury service and a lot of it is deadly dull

Bluewavescrashing · 22/04/2020 17:32

Exactly. It's entertainment.

IntermittentParps · 22/04/2020 17:58

Salad and Blue, yes, I think we all realise that. No need to try to piss on people's chips, we're just having a discussion.

Saladaysior · 22/04/2020 18:10

Pointing out that it’s an itv drama is only going to piss on someone’s chips if they actually thought it was a factually accurate documentary Grin

Um, no. I don't think that Hmm and I think all of us on here probably grasp that it's not a documentary, but I find it unnecessarily miserable to shoot down discussions like this.

Saladaysior · 22/04/2020 18:44

Well it’s hardly shooting down then is it? Someone posted saying ‘if the court case was a true representation ...’ and a couple of us pointed out that it isn’t. Which you seem to agree with. So you’re not being shot down or having your chips pissed on Smile
