Anyone watching?

OP posts:
Lizziesbusy · 08/04/2020 22:05

I did.

Those poor, poor children Sad And surely the grandparents must feel at risk?

Weirdomagnet · 08/04/2020 22:05

I was! First switched on while channel hopping & thought she was just a massively over privileged toff (well actually, thought she was Ulrika Jonsson at first!) But my god, her husband made my blood run cold. And she seeme like a nice person.
That Russian TV show was like a nightmare. Felt it in my gut for her.

TheSpottedZebra · 08/04/2020 22:09

I watched it. I remember her from when she met the Cossack- she really tried to be famous then.

She's a cold fish too, isn't she? And she has NOWHERE TO LIVE apart from her 'cottage' in Oxfordshire poor wee lamb.

Lizziesbusy · 08/04/2020 22:11

Funnily ended I said to DH she reminded me of Ulrika too.

Was very surprised she did the TV show...was screaming at her ‘NOOOOO!’ as soon as it was mentioned before they confirmed she would appear 🤦🏻‍♀️

Wondering why this was aired tonight....?

Ooarrrzomerzet · 08/04/2020 22:13

It was a real eye opener in all the worst ways! Really interesting though

RickOShay · 08/04/2020 22:16

But is she genuine or not?
I’m leaning towards not

Supersimkin2 · 08/04/2020 22:18

Bizarre show. They're both crafty and we're being used for something, but not sure what. Ditto the kids.

Why did the BBC spend money on propaganda for a high-value divorce battle? Shame on the commissioning editor.

TheSpottedZebra · 08/04/2020 22:21

She was his mistress at first, wasnt she? So she'd presumably seen him treat his 1st wife poorly too.

I think the original documentary was just going to be a fly on the wall of oligarch in hiding's wife, then it all broke down.

purpleme12 · 08/04/2020 22:23

Yes it didn't mention in the programme that the man was married was they got together did it?
It said she was but didn't mention about him

Poor children, now everyone who watches this including their friends know their father is dodgy, and they are possibly in danger from Russian agents.
Why on earth doesn’t she buy a house somewhere like Cornwall, Devon anywhere away from London, where her husband won’t know where they are, dye her hair and keep a very low profile for the sake of her innocent children, very odd behaviour.
Her series about horses in Russian was on the tv the last couple of nights. It was awful as they eat the horses as food, as well as riding them. I couldn’t watch much of it as it was horrific to me.

Ooarrrzomerzet · 08/04/2020 22:30

That’s what I found bizarre. Even the interviewer said ‘aren’t you worried they’re going to see this show?’ But she seemed to think she could control their exposure to it...no chance

CoolCarrie · 08/04/2020 22:33

Even at the start when everything was rosy why have your children featured at all, or show so much of their houses?

Tayt · 08/04/2020 22:34

I’d be way too paranoid to use a chauffeur as well....

Tayt · 08/04/2020 22:35

I’m on her instagram now and in March she posted pictures of herself outside the KGB building. Doesn’t add up

Lizziesbusy · 08/04/2020 22:38

It just doesn’t make sense.

Fear of being found, kidnapped, stalked and then put your children dressed in their school uniform making them identifiable, your home and your parents home on national television.

Longdistance · 08/04/2020 22:39

As they say ‘never sell your soul to the devil’. It was like watching them come out of the frying pan and into the fire. I only felt sorry for the kids.

RickOShay · 08/04/2020 22:43

I thought they weren’t married?
She is a countess in her own right though, he was wrong about that.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 08/04/2020 22:43

There are so many problems I have with this:

  1. The fame grabbing element of the way she’s handled this really undermines that rational reasons for trying to leave the marriage. That talk show bit? Fuck me. Facepalm central.
  2. The children will know it all already, there is no “one day”. Especially if there’s another Russian Billionaire’s offspring at St Cake’s
  3. Talking of the children she is 100% directly compromising their security, there is one scene with Tripp Trapp chairs that has the children’s initials on and a quick google would give you their names but seriously Alexandra? Come ON.
  4. I cannot help but wonder if the whole thing is an elaborate ruse so they can hopefully reunite one day happily, I don’t know if I even care enough to consider it further (even if it would take my mind a way from COVID19)

Anyway, as you were.

Sidge · 08/04/2020 22:58

It was fascinatingly bizarre.

She did a massive backtrack at the end saying oh no it wasn’t about the money, having spent 8 years living the life of Riley with private jets, homes around the world and cupboards full of designer gear.

Hiding from the KGB then being subsidised by them? What’s that all about?

TheSpottedZebra · 08/04/2020 23:14

She is a countess in her own right though, he was wrong about that.

Her dad styles himself as Count, but the 'legitimacy' of that is VERY much disputed. I suspect that is what Sergei was referencing. Also, the revolution rather put paid to nobility inside Russia, so I guess it's not ok for a foreigner to use ANY Russian title, inside Russia.

Neveranynamesleft · 08/04/2020 23:31

I'm sure that if anybody wanted to look it wouldnt take that long to work out where exactly his residence in France is. Or hers for that matter. If they are under so much threat why show the houses. And why didnt she just walk off stage on the talk show as soon as she realised what was about to happen. And why show so much of the children. Sooo many questions on this bizarre set up. Fascinating stuff tho.

NellMangel · 08/04/2020 23:55

Interesting stuff. I'm not sure what to think. I quite liked him, which is confusing. I cant figure her out. I feel sorry for their lovely kids.

Iamthewombat · 09/04/2020 00:03

What a waste of space that woman is. Trading off her great uncle’s surname. Never had a proper job. Attention seeking since the early 2000s with her “I fell in love with a Cossack” bollocks and spending months riding horses across Asia “to raise money for charity” - just give them some of your own fucking money and quit virtue signalling. Using a defunct Russian title like those sad bastards who were kicked out of Greece, Bulgaria, Romania etc. but still insist on calling themselves ‘crown prince’. Dumping the Cossack and glomming on to a rich oligarch the first chance she got. Spending his money happily and showing off her fabulously expensive handbag collection. Now attention seeking again in this bizarre documentary.

Iamthewombat · 09/04/2020 00:07

She’s now snivelling about “having literally no money”.

Iamthewombat · 09/04/2020 00:10

And goes on Russian TV ‘for a five figure sum’, sticking the boot into the oligarch. I know who I believe.
