New thread for second series of Hidden.

Shown 4 days in advance on BBC Wales, so anyone watching on BBC4 should watch out for spoilers between tues-sat each week. Unless you want to start a separate thread!

Link to BBC web page where Series 1 is available on line www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p066st1w. Assume series 2 will become available online.

The Welsh language version on this was shown last summer, so if you watched it please dont post any spoilers!! Thanks Smile

I have watched episode 2 and do find it hard to have any sympathy with anyone.

The irritating sisters of the detective. Her male partner in another cliche struggling as a new dad. sigh.

And the young people. Everyone's so nasty.

Why did the daughter lose touch with the man who was murdered? Was it that she just couldn't be bothered or she suspected he was guilty of abusing his pupils.

(And at the moment not enough stunning scenery to counter the grimness. I didn't realise that Wales is one of the poorest parts of Europe. Sad )

I got the impression that the dead mans daughter believes the rumours
And that’s why she didn’t have contact

Then wondered if she was abused by him

Only worked out the boy is the nephew of policeman that episode

Oh dear, I think I need to concentrate more!

Am watching a number of thrillers at the moment.

Just finished Baghdad Central - brilliant.

A french one about a woman whose husband goes missing and a Swedish (?) with a grumpy older male detective who nobody wants to work with.

Might have to think about recording whole series and watching them one by one, rather than trying to remember all the different story lines.

What are the titles of the French and the Swedish ones?

Report
stumbledin · 23/02/2020 19:11

The french one is called Just One Look www.channel4.com/programmes/just-one-look/on-demand/70430-001

The Swedish one The Truth Will Out
www.channel4.com/programmes/the-truth-will-out

And there's one coming up on Alibi, New Zealand based but said to be a bit nordic noir. Called the Gulf. The ones I have watched set in New Zealand always seem to be very grim (and bit like the Welsh ones) and all the men are complete shits and treat women like dirt!!

@stumbledin - they look right up me street! MMMM - which one to watch first???
I think I've only seen one NZ series -Top of the Lake (1&2) were good, if only for Elisabeth Moss.
Prime have the first (ancient) series of Beck atm.

@Blondeshavemorefun - the dead man's daughter said that she wanted to say goodbye to her father and that she would be happy to never see his house again (or something like that.) Made me feel that something went on there, though not necessarily due to her father.

What do we know about the job-seeking man? Has he been in prison?
See I'm finding the plot all a bit disjointed ...

I see the gulf advertised. Think starts wed

Just caught up over the weekend and watched Ep 1 and 2. It's all so grim and dark - and as someone else said, the characters are all either cliched or unlikeable, so I'm not sure I'll persevere.....but then I want to know what the story of the man living in the garage is, and how he fits in, so I'll probably stick with it!

I'm sticking with this but not finding it as compelling as series 1. I'm having trouble believing that Connor's 16 - mainly because the actor is 23. He's far too mature-looking for that part imho.

I'm just watching this & don't actually like Cadi much.

Seems to be the typical favoured daughter!

Just blunders about thinking that her sisters should do things her way, & that she can interfere at will!

I found it disjointed too. (Watched in Welsh a while back).

In fact, I didn't realise that it had endedGrin.

Loving the grimness though. That bit of North Wales is so atmospheric - rain, slateyness and picturesqueness all combined with unremitting North Welshness. Excellent.

Have been watching, but think I'm going to bail out. I'm not really getting any kind of plot to this at all and it's moving at a snail's pace. Was gripped by series one, but this isn't really making much sense to me.

Ok seen 4 last night. Obv won’t say anything till sat

But was aBetter episode imo

Only 2 left

I am beginning to think that the theme is that all these bad mothers create dysfunctional children who go on to commit crime.

And in fact that was the message of the first series as well.

Confused

Was everybody in the first series as unpleasant as every one in this one? Blush

was everyone n the first series as unpleasant as everyone in this one?

Pretty much, yes.

I'm not enjoying the second series as much as the first.

I like a gritty drama but I'm finding some of the characters a little bit too unlikeable. And as a mum of 2 teens, I find it quite upsetting.

Yes, I know it's not real 😂😂

So little happens in each episode that I am finding it a bit boring.

Also it's so depressing to watch. Everyone seems to look grubby and like they could do with a good wash (and their clothes). Also the houses are so horrible. Surely it's not filmed in real houses with all that ancient wallpaper?
