to cry during every episode 😬. Love every character only on series 1 still so please no spoilers.

OP posts:

I'm rewatching the whole thing before starting on season 4. Keep trying to get DP to watch it too, but he says he's scared of it as he knows he'll cry too! Its brilliant. Anyone who doesn't like it has no heart Grin

goatley · 07/06/2020 19:32

I've just found Season 4.

I'm pretty sure I watched all of Season 3 but I have no idea who these characters are.. I guess I'll found out.

MissCalamity · 08/06/2020 21:07

Yes @goatley they're new characters and you'll have found out their connections by the end of episode 1.
Looks like Kate will be getting her 18 years plus back story this series with her boyfriend from the record shop.

Danglingmod · 08/06/2020 21:31

That's good. She was really neglected in the last series. I was like: no more Randall and Beth, please!

BrieAndChilli · 08/06/2020 21:34

I’ve just finished season 4. I have some theories about what will happen but not sure if this thread is the right place to discuss??
I really enjoy the complexity of the stories.
I read an article where it was said that it’s just the story of a normal family and that most people’s multigenerational stories would be the same if chopped up and jumbled up!

Redcrayons · 08/06/2020 21:48

I’m halfway through season 3, I cry every time. I had to pause during The episode when the BAD THING happens to have a word with myself.

Jack Pearson is the most perfect dad/husband in the whole of TV history.

Frenchfancy · 09/06/2020 19:46

Thank you all for giving me something great to watch of an evening.

LikeSilentRaindrops · 09/06/2020 21:45

Currently halfway through season 4 after it finally came to Prime - blubbing all the way Grin

Does anyone else struggle with Rebecca? I can’t work out if it’s Mandy Moore’s acting that doesn’t quite work for me or if it’s the character. I find her a bit...smug?

Thisbastardcomputer · 09/06/2020 21:57

Thanks for the recommendation

Danglingmod · 09/06/2020 22:00

Raindrops - I think I do like her more as a younger Mum than as a Grandma. I think she plays older woman well, but her character had changed and definitely got much more smug.

chillandrelax · 09/06/2020 22:01

It makes me feel happy and sad at the same time. I'm not a fan of either Kate or Rebecca. I wasn't keen on Kevin in the beginning but love him now. I am half way through s4 and may watch again from s1 when I have finished. My favourite programme at the moment!

LikeSilentRaindrops · 09/06/2020 22:06

Dangling, glad it’s not just me! I do think as a younger woman she can come across as a bit too self-satisfied as well, but definitely better than when she’s older. She seems to lack self awareness whilst thinking of herself as very aware and empathetic.

I’m aware I’m possibly overanalysing her..!

Danglingmod · 09/06/2020 23:04

If you have, then me too. That's very accurate. I think she was a slightly underconfident younger woman who deferred to Jack all the time and so she's over compensating in later life?

OhioOhioOhio · 10/06/2020 23:49

Just finished season 4. Its wonderful. Is there a thread to discuss it without spoilers?

Keepyourginup · 15/06/2020 09:41

Amazing show. Soooo clever they way it goes back and forth and everything is ways connected (don't like the stuff in the 'future' as much) - it must take so much planning by the producers. The cast, especially the kids are amazing. I cry during most espiodes. Can't believe it's not bigger in the UK. It's the best show I've ever watched.

BentBastard · 15/06/2020 20:27

It's a bit cheesy for the average UK audience I reckon. But it's really well done cheese (IMO) so I just go with it...

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 15/06/2020 23:46

I don’t love Rebecca either but I think we’re supposed to see them all as flawed and whole characters - even Jack isn’t perfect (although almost!). I feel like Rebecca’s difficult relationship with Kate is something lots of people can relate to.

I’m loving both Kate and Kevin even more this season. Got a bit Randalled out last time!

I love the Nicky storyline but can’t square the idea that Jack cut him off for all those years. Lovely Jack wouldn’t do that!

Was weird having Cameron (Cassie) and Foreman (Darnell) from House both in it for a while there!

goatley · 18/06/2020 18:22

Wow. Just watched the last four episodes this afternoon.

I am now a sobbing mess.

Very cleverly done.

Guylan · 19/06/2020 02:37

I didn’t hate it and I didn’t love it. I wasn’t interested in watching beyond the first series.

incognitomum · 19/06/2020 23:58

I didn't love season 4 as much as the others. I began to dislike Randall which is a shame as loved him as a youngster.

The Kevin/ Nicky story is great. Can't say much but there's a few things I didn't see coming.

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 20/06/2020 02:17

I agree, I didn’t like season 4 as much, too many new people I think!

I always found Randall a bit too good to be true tbh, so I’m ok with him showing another side. It was quite realistic I thought, the escalation and point scoring in an argument.

WingBingo · 20/06/2020 10:05

I have just enjoyed the golf episode in s4. Well played Randall.

Sobbed at the end of this one. Usually sob at some point each episode.

Keepyourginup · 20/06/2020 12:31

That was a fab episode, such a clever twist!

BentBastard · 20/06/2020 14:16

I liked the new people, I felt like it needed a fresh injection of characters. I binged it too quickly I think.

When I we allowed to discuss up to end of S4 without it being considered spoilers?

Mistybee · 20/06/2020 22:32

I’m only on S3 but watching daily at the moment

S2 had me absolutely sobbing. It was incredibly sad
