I started rewatching (again) from the very first episode while cooking dinner yesterday.
By bedtime I was on episode 6 Grin

squirrelnutkins1 · 28/01/2020 19:28

I didn't like Toby either but he's def grown on me and stepped up in my opinion 👍🏻 @MaisieMaisie

I find rebecca really hard to like 😕

Gizabreak · 28/01/2020 19:37

I'm up to series 4 and this is by far the best series I've ever watched. It just gets better and better. And yes every episode makes me cry!

JeSuisPrest · 28/01/2020 19:40

I can't hear Jack saying "Katie Girl" without blubbing. This Is Us and Outlander are worth my Prime membership alone.

Beautyoftheirdreams · 28/01/2020 19:43

It's the best thing on TV. I cry all the time!

roses2 · 28/01/2020 20:09

Huge fan too! Randall is by far my favourite character Smile

To be honest I am struggling a little with Kate. She is very very large and doesn't seem to be able to shift the weight either on the series or in real life. It really isn't healthy Sad

RosieBdy · 07/06/2020 09:51

New series! Yippee!
Enjoy all...

kingkuta · 07/06/2020 11:58

Yes the crying is a standing joke between me and my friends. Sets us all off. Sometimes I think I've escaped an episode then something will happen to set me off right at the very end. It's strange because I'm not sentimental at all. I think the last time I cried outside of This is Us was when I was about 7 Grin

MissCalamity · 07/06/2020 12:21

I got an email saying that series 4 was on Amazon Prime and already watched 3 episodes.
Was very confused by the 3 new characters in episode 1.....until the end of that episode. 😉
Love the little funny comments between characters, wonder how far forward into the future they're going to push it??!

Frenchfancy · 07/06/2020 12:24

Could anyone give me an idea as to what it is about? I haven't seen it or even heard about it.

Omg it is the best thing ever. It is about a wonderful family. And life. Go now and watch it.

Iamagree · 07/06/2020 12:33

I watched it all and loved it! Didn't know there was a season 4! Off to watch it now.

I also loved Parenthood, similar feel different characters (obviously! Smile)

It's a family drama/saga thing but it skips back and forward between the lives of the parents with their young children, and the lives of their children as adults. It is strangely gripping, though I have given up after two seasons.
Nannyamc · 07/06/2020 12:38

Best show ever. Now we have season 4 on Amazon prime it is just getting better
To those who have never seen it a truly wonderful journey awaits you. Enjoy

OhioOhioOhio · 07/06/2020 14:04

When will we get season 5?

Mrscaindingle · 07/06/2020 17:07

Season 4? Shock

Well that's the last the family will see of me for a few days.

Danglingmod · 07/06/2020 17:13

Looking forward to season 4 now.

It is very sickly, though.

Love Toby and Kate's relationship, though not really Kate as a standalone character.

Love kid Randall and adult Kevin.

Dislike adult Randall and teenage Kevin.

Rebecca is marmite and Jack is only forgiven his faults because he's dead.

But I still love it.

BrieAndChilli · 07/06/2020 17:16

I can find things with every character that strikes a chord with me. Can’t not cry when I watch it. I love all the layers to it, you watch a scene and then later on see it from another angle or point of view.

BrieAndChilli · 07/06/2020 17:17

@Danglingmod I think that’s it’s appeal. The characters aren’t black and white, one moment you hate a character the next you can see why they are like they are and have sympathy.

Danglingmod · 07/06/2020 17:21

Yes, even my summary above wasn't very nuanced. Even within the same time period, different episodes switch your sympathy between, say, kid Kevin and kid Randall.

In season three, though, I started to get really annoyed at how little of Kate's story between 18-now we've seen. It's all been about the boys and fleshing out their back stories (and Jack's). Still a great show, though.

RosieBdy · 07/06/2020 17:58

I was up early yesterday morning and discovered the new series but DD woke up when I was only 20 minutes in to the first episode...
I managed to watch the end of episode one, all of 2 and the start of episode 3 before anyone woke up this morning! Smile
I was trying to explain to DH why I love it so much and he just couldn't get over "what, you cry every episode about something?!".
Someone earlier said that it's the way that you see the same part of their lives from another point of view and I think that's exactly it...
