What the heck did I just watch? And more significantly, I am really confused as to where and when that was supposed to be? Is that what Americans think we are like? Or did I miss the point.

I've just finished Season2. It was fab. I know everyone was talking about the bus scene but I must admit I found the scene where the girls wrecked the old car very emotional too. I think because it was such a shared experience and women are so often told they can't be angry.

It's perfectly pitched and whilst it's obviously issue-based, it weaves the issues through with such a light touch. 13 Reasons Why could really learn from their approach.

BlackBlueBell · 23/01/2020 20:45

I love this show! It gets across so many important but very little talked about issues in a great way. Could have ended a little better but I still can’t wait for next season!

“You dirty pig!” is definitely my favourite line probably ever!

MrsEsss · 24/01/2020 07:01

I've just started rewatching season 1. Eric really is such a great character. When he's dressed in orange at the party. He and Otis make me laugh out loud. Maeve too. It's just so well written.

DieSchottin93 · 24/01/2020 21:13

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor thank you for mentioning that, I'd been trying to think who he reminded me of Grin

I'm halfway through series 2 and I think it's brilliant. It's funny and also very touching in places. I love how awkward Otis is Grin

HelloYouTwo · 25/01/2020 09:40

I love this programme! I am so glad I persevered beyond S1E1 as the mash up seemed so odd to start off, and now I just accept it as part of the gloriousness of this show.

Maybe they got lucky with the weather but it also resonates with the idea of looking back over your childhood and teen years when so many memories seem to be bathed in sunlight.

I like the way S2 has more about the adults’ relationships and sex lives.

I love Gillian Anderson.

But I would watch the whole thing just for a chance to hear Eric’s wonderful laugh.

Kelsoooo · 25/01/2020 09:53

You can't say they're using "sex to shock" you've missed the entire point if that's what you think they're doing.

Chocpear · 25/01/2020 23:02

I love this series. I only found out about it a few days ago and have already finished series 1. It has so much heart, bloody funny and great characters.

MrsEsss · 26/01/2020 07:59

The only problem with this show is that there are too few episodes per season. I'm.hiping for a season 3 but programmes that are supposed to be about school kids often have a limited runtime.

Cleebope2 · 29/01/2020 23:33

This series is absolutely brilliant. Each character is so sensitively portrayed. I wanted Otis and Ruby to stick together. Feel sorry for Rahim. And Eric and Nadia front Bake off share the same eyes. Maeve is ace, Amy is so loveable but my fave is Adam.

wildthingsinthenight · 02/02/2020 14:04

Absolutely loved this! Finished Season 2 a couple of days ago.
Love the way it's shot and the 80's feel.
It's supposed to be a love letter to John Hughes apparently.
Started the whole thing again last night with DH as I think he'll like it. He does so far

forrandomposts · 02/02/2020 14:32

I also love this show! Just started season 2 with the episode of Otis and the car when his mum comes back for her wallet GrinGrinGrin

Grin

IslaMann · 12/02/2020 07:16

Watched the last 2 episodes of s2 last night.
Loved the library detention scenes. Very The Breakfast Club. Great homage to Hughes.
And Isaac!! What a bastard. (Tho I love that the character doesn't confirm to the notion that disabled=virtuous).

mrwalkensir · 16/02/2020 19:45

can we have a shout out for Samantha Spiro as Adam's mother too?

PleaseSeeMeNow · 25/02/2020 21:31

I am loving this! It’s so well done.

And also I am from where they film, which as a pp said is near Ross on Wye which is on the Welsh border. Although the school scenes are in Cardiff.

desperatehousewife21 · 26/02/2020 08:28

They have announced season 3 there’s a trailer for it, can’t wait!

Maeve and Adam are my favs. When he was working in the shop and stuck all the price tag stickers all over his face and then had to quickly take them all off when someone came in Grin

Sidge · 05/03/2020 21:05

I just discovered this this week and am on series 1 episode 8 and I am LOVING it.

It’s sweet, sad, funny, sharp and just wonderful.

Eric is glorious, and Otis is brilliant. I feel so sorry for Adam, and Maeve is so sad. The characters are wonderful without being caricatures, the acting is great and the issues they tackle are so well handled.

LadyFuschia · 12/03/2020 22:41

Arghhhh just finished series 2. Now what? It has been such a complete breath of fresh air and brought joy to my heart (especially Eric who is pure Joy distilled!).

Maybe the idea to rewatch with DH is a good one. Otherwise it’s back to my usual dark, gritty series which are not the right antidote to Corona-panic!
