Jason Bateman stars and directs. 2 episodes aired tonight. Have watched the 1st. Was excellent. Very chilling. What are people’s thoughts?

Anyone else seen ep3 yet?

@Blondeshavemorefun yes that’s the premise of the show, that his DNA is all over the crime scene yet he was 50 miles away and CCTV and countless eye witnesses place him where he said he was.

@BeyondFlubeInclusionaryRF yes I’ve seen it. It’s seeming like there’s an “entity” that is inhabiting someone and passing from person to person, with the policeman being the latest. I think the black guy in jail was the nurse at Terry’s Dad’s care home that cut him, therefore whatever it is then passed in to Terry?

Still doesn’t really explain the cloning side of things though, rather than simply possessing someone.

Third ep had classic X-Files vibes.

The way they unveiled the prison/suicide story was confusing and jarring. I know it fit together in the end, but I wasn't invested in it because I had no idea what was going on.

The ageing thing has me Confused ! I think whatever the copy is, it's a poor copy and hence why it ages fast? Just waiting for a load of eggs of copies to be discovered!! 😬

Yy Borneo - I have facial blindness so already get confused about who's who when I watch a new programme. So I spent the majority of ep3 wondering who he was, but thinking he had already been shown and I was just muddled up 😂🙄

And what do you think the daughter was talking about when she said when she saw the man the 3rd time he looked “inky”?

Tattoos? She also said he had big shoulders, so I'm pictured a tattooed body builder type..?

Rollergirl11 · 21/01/2020 17:41

Ahh yes of course, why didn’t I think of tattoos?! I wonder if the policeman has got lots of tats.

The inky this is weird. If it turns out to be tattoos I'll be annoyed - why wouldn't she just say: "He had tattoos". Who says "inky"??

BorneoBabe · 21/01/2020 17:56

The strip club/bar owner had tattoos.

Do you mean the guy that Terry spoke to about changing out of his clothes in the toilet in the first episode? Played by Paddy Considine. I would expect him to have quite a big part so that sounds possible.

@Rollergirl11 Yep.

The only reason I can think of, is that in her sheltered life she'd never seen them? Seems weird to me, but I guess I'm not in small town America

It's great. It's very true to the book so far and I am loving the casting. Best thing I have seen in a while.

It’s the scariest thing I’ve seen for ages!
Only on ep2, don’t think I can wait for weekly episodes once I’ve caught up!

It took me 3 attempts to concentrate enough to watch the first episode but I'm now caught up and hooked. There's apparently 10 episodes in total and a lot to cover obviously. I'm tempted to read the book just to get to the conclusion. I thought tattoos as soon as she said inky and get the comparison with True Detective. Despite it being in present day it does have an air of being set in the past. I had to double check the date on the CCTV footage to see that it covered 2019 not 1999!

Not happy- I thought there were 4 episodes, I can’t wait !

I've watched first two and really enjoying it!

Anyone think a 'twins/family member' theory or is that too boring?

Ulysses · 23/01/2020 14:21

Hmm keep watching @angemorange! Deadwater Fell with David Tennant is the other thing I am watching at the moment @amaryl and that's only four episodes, so I was a bit taken aback when I saw this was 10. I do think they are drawing a lot of time out with lingering scenes of not much happening but so far so good.

Ooh I'm intrigued! Will watch another one tonight.

I've watched two episodes of Deadwater Fell but not sure I'm loving it.

Wisting on BBC4 a good scandi thriller but has subtitles so need to be in the mood to concentrate Grin

Ulysses · 23/01/2020 16:38

I use subtitles for everything these days! I'm finding The Outsider very dark as well - not just in mood of the show but visually. I think the subtitles help me pick up aspects I'd otherwise miss, but yeah, does require concentration.

3 was a bit weird

So as he gets stronger the figure is more seen ?

Great episode tonight. More has been revealed but you do have to concentrate as otherwise you miss who people are.

Yes deffo have to watch every second. Although I’m still confused. Can’t work out what’s going on with the policeman that has the stuff on the back of his neck. He’s not the same as the others is he?
