What on earth am I watching?

And why can't they pronounce fusilier or Namibia (but have no problem with correctly saying Windhoek!)?

The extra hand wasn't explained, no, I thought that too. "Manny" was definitely a fiction though

LoseLooseLucy · 22/12/2019 20:35

I didn't explain properly earlier. The hands are believed belong to the owner of the snake, and isn't thought to be involved in any way.

Don't you find it disturbing though, the way people are more outraged and upset about the cat video than the video of Jun lin being murdered.

TRIGGER

Especially as the murder video was so disgustingly vile, showing necrophilia, mutilation and his playing with a decapitated head in the bath. The fact that the baudi woman had to turn off the cat video but seemed to have to problem with Jun lin getting stabbed to death shows how we as a society have become so used to seeing such horrific things done against our fellow humans.

I'm sorry but there should be more outrage, or at least equal, for this video as well. He was a human being and the documentary didn't really delve into who he was. Which is a shame. As Jun lin should be remembered.

And lukas mother. I just pity the woman

staydazzling · 23/12/2019 08:14

finished last episode last night, I think the third hand is possibly the snakes owner whos possibly a sick fuck aswell, but the whole manny thing was a fiction, g
he was a big fantasist, his mum was odd i can understand a certain level of denial but yeah a bit odd there. if there was a 'manny' he'd have been caught on cctv.

staydazzling · 23/12/2019 08:15

Jun Lins friend made a good point were all talking about Luka and not him, alt good on Netflix for not bothering to contact Luka or update on him.

LoseLooseLucy · 23/12/2019 11:49

Yes, and it barely touches in the documentary what he actually did to the poor man.

The female detective talking about his death on film and then crying when she was talking about the puppy being killed was 😳

Mummy195 · 24/12/2019 15:17

Watched this by mistake. Was about to switch off around 7 minutes in with the kittens, but had to see the guy getting captured.

They had me a bit with Manny, because they never explain where the snake comes from. When the detective was watching who is coming in and out of the building, the psycho opened a door to some random person, and I thought that was Manny.

I'm guessing he's crazy enough to go to Vegas just to film the casino. He was jet setting everywhere on the run.

But he left clues all over the place. The suitcase and blackbags right next to his flat? Wearing Jun Lin t-shirt. Signing in with a new name at the last Paris hotel, while leaving his old clothes there with student ID. How sloppy was he? Really wanting to be found.

Agree, not much was said about Jun Lin or the Windhoek guy - talk about a reach, the guy did not even have the same body shape.

Mum is crazy as he is.

TiffanyTrot · 24/12/2019 15:19

Watched ten mins and then decided I could actually live with not knowing more about this man

LoseLooseLucy · 27/12/2019 09:39

That was posted to a Facebook group regarding the hands seen.

staydazzling · 27/12/2019 09:49

Oh right thats disturbing, regarding the neighbour, so many opportunities to get Luka missed

SureTry · 27/12/2019 14:56

Just finished watching this today. His mum was absolutely bizarre but I guess she's clinging to any possible excuse apart from the actual truth that her son is an absolute monster.

jelly79 · 29/12/2019 00:37

Watched all 3 episodes last night. Cannot believe how many opportunities to catch this guy were missed. It was like he was in reaching distance throughout and he loved that.

His behaviour in the interview room was very odd. I didn't expect him to be like that. At one point I thought he may do something to the interviewer

I agree with how weak the female detective came across

FoamingAtTheUterus · 29/12/2019 01:37

Really didn't think they should have detailed the killings in this.......I can see sick fucks recreating the original ones sadly :/

chipdips · 30/12/2019 08:46

Can't believe no one has mentioned the pronunciation of "chaise lounge" Grin

God I watched all 3 in a row, really gripping and so many twists. One thing I wanted to know what where he was getting all his money from!! Also how odd must that guy he stayed with whilst he was on the run in Paris feel!

I never believed the manny thing, even the photo the guy showed of him apparently being beaten up was too "pretty" to be real. And the cool relaxed way the cctv showed him getting rid of the body was too chilling to be under duress.

Maybe he did the get the money from escorting though.

Definitely agree that they didn't honour jun lin's memory at all.

Jiggles101 · 31/12/2019 18:53

Made me think all the posters on here who claim their mil/sim/exh/neighbour/boss is a narcissist should watch it and learn what a real narcissist is!

Tutlefru · 05/01/2020 17:16

It was bizarre.

I felt like they barely spent any time on Lin Jun.

A very dangerous individual.

And his mother is deluded.

PhysaliaPhysalis · 08/01/2020 22:04

I genuinely thought it was fiction until I came to this thread: the internet detectives seemed like actors, the Canadian actual detective had me WTFing, I don't remember any of this in the news.

So after reading this thread I went to Wikipedia. I know it's a bastion of incorrect information, but it says his mum was obsessed with cleaning, used to lock the kids out of the house and something else I can't remember. Dad was schizophrenic and the kids ended up being raised by their gran.

Flowers in memory of Jun Lin.

doublebarrellednurse · 08/01/2020 22:12

HIS MOTHER 😬🤯😳

Thestrangestthing · 08/01/2020 22:14

Yes, everyone seemed to be so much more upset about animals being killed (which you don't see) than watching an actual human being, being stabbed (which, if I recall you see several times).
Now the animals being killed was extremely upsetting, but there is something wrong when people are crying about a puppy being killed and not shedding a single tear, over an innocent man being killed Confused

hazeydays14 · 08/01/2020 22:26

I was saying that to DP when we were watching..
I wonder if it’s because kittens/puppies/animals generally are seen as innocent and defenceless whereas people are too quick to blame others for ‘getting themselves into the situation’

Or possibly we are desensitised to it through watching CSI/Criminal Minds etc etc where you see people ‘being murdered’ but animal abuse is rarely shown in fictional tv programs?

I don’t know. I wish I never watched it but I had to carry on after ep 1 to know if he was caught

doublebarrellednurse · 08/01/2020 22:27

Real Crime Profile podcast are doing a series on the profiling of the guy this month and are really good

Inappropriatefemale · 09/01/2020 01:23

@GreySparkles I totally agree that Baudi couldn’t watch the cat video but she could easily watch the video of the human being killed and I felt the same, very strange.

Who the hell gives away free animals on Craigslist?! If you truly cared about animals you wouldn’t just give them away like that and this annoyed me, he would never have gotten that puppy of a careless person hadn’t just put an advert on the internet & allowed any old psycho to have it, made me fucking mad.

Luca was bullied relentlessly at school so I can see why he perhaps had hatred inside of him but not to that degree and innocent animals didn’t bully him.

I can see why his mother believes he is innocent, it’s understandable that she is in denial, maybe she can’t cope with the truth, yet anyway.

Inappropriatefemale · 09/01/2020 01:25

Animals are always innocent and people have flaws and negative personality traits, obviously you don’t deserve to be murdered because of it but I can see why people feel more for animals than people who they never met in their life.

More money goes to animal charities than for children!Confused

He got his money from working an an escort.
