Me too Boyo

I don’t think she fed them but I don’t see any problem with that. They were always going to be bottle fed. I think she gave enough of her body tbh. She didn’t need to breastfeed them too. At the point of birth she was probably very glad to be done with it all. I agree she seemed really grounded. I think her emotion in the hospital was probably because the dads were crying. You know that “oh if you cry, i’ll Cry” thing that happens sometimes Grin the dads were really emotional so I could see her becoming emotional because of that. and I certainly don’t feel sorry for the babies. They will be two very well cared for and loved little girls.

Boyo7 · 12/12/2019 21:42

Pretty sure you couldn't carry twins for 9 months and then hand them over and remain completely detached. And in the first episode her older daughter looked really sad about the whole thing.

IWorkAtTheCheesecakeFactory · 12/12/2019 21:47

I’m sure she wasn’t completely detached at all. She did say she didn’t fall in love with them and was very happy about that. I’m glad for her, well them all really, but mostly her, that that didn’t happen. What she did was hard enough without that extra difficulty.

I get the feeling that Mel and her family will be in the twins’ lives.

Why do people feel sorry them?

lazymum99 · 13/12/2019 12:06

How can you feel sorry for 2 little baby girls going home with parents that adore and dote on them.

NoSauce · 13/12/2019 12:27

I have felt sad if that’s the right word for the twins. I know they are cared for well and loved by their dads but there is something crucial imo in those first weeks for a baby and its mother.

Incidentally do the men know which baby is genetically theirs?

vivacian · 13/12/2019 12:42

Incidentally do the men know which baby is genetically theirs?

Hmm

there is something crucial imo in those first weeks for a baby and its mother.

I think that there’s something very special and important, but not crucial. I’m terms of Attachment theory I think that it’s just important that there’s an attentive parent.

NoSauce · 13/12/2019 12:43

Why the face?

CaptainMyCaptain · 13/12/2019 12:52

I loved Shabbaz and his 'man training'. They are such lovely little boys.

vivacian · 13/12/2019 13:16

How would you imagine it would work @NoSauce ?

NoSauce · 13/12/2019 13:22

Is that a trick question?

DappledThings · 13/12/2019 13:33

I don't get what vivacian is driving at either. If they have used their to fertilise one egg each and aren't having paternity tests now that the twins are here then how would they know which one is genetically fathered by who?

I don't think it's a weird question and there hasn't been any discussion on the show of paternity testing

IWorkAtTheCheesecakeFactory · 13/12/2019 13:57

They’ve probably decided not to know. Which I think is probably sensible. Although the babies may resemble each of their dads anyway which will tell them the answer.

fridgegrazer · 13/12/2019 14:02

I agree they may not want to know, but it might be important for future medical decisions etc.

vivacian · 13/12/2019 14:02

If they have used their to fertilise one egg each and aren't having paternity tests now that the twins are here then how would they know which one is genetically fathered by who?

That’s my point. I was surprised somebody thought they’d done a DNA test on new born babies. Why would you want to know anyway??

IWorkAtTheCheesecakeFactory · 13/12/2019 14:08

Good point fridge!

If they’re anything like my children they’ll be the spit of their dads anyway! Grin

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 13/12/2019 14:36

Catching up with episode 3 now:

How on earth do the family of 5 afford all those kids- given his job I can’t see how they can. (I’m going to guess some family inheritance playing a part somewhere). She’s defo got a touch of the Sue Radford about her, the husband seems utterly exhausted and fed up-
Can’t blame him.

The gay couple seem lovely and it’s not a criticism or their parenting but I was so sad when the babies were taken from their birth mum. Surrogacy just doesn’t sit right with me. Again I’m sure they are fabulous fathers.

Nice to see a more father side of Mo this week- that house seems suffocating though.

The two boys with the new little sister melt my heart- bless em !

hifolks · 13/12/2019 18:05

I just don't feel right about the surrogate thing. Mother Nature knows what she is about. It feels cruel and wrong.

TowelStripes · 13/12/2019 18:12

I also found myself upset to watch the surrogate leave without the babies. I surprised myself

MerryDeath · 13/12/2019 19:08

i just... feel sad for the babies growing up without a mummy.

NoSauce · 13/12/2019 19:26

I don’t know how anyone who has given birth doesn’t feel for those babies being parted from their mum. Basic human nature means that a newborn should be with their mother and she should be with her baby.

It felt quite brutal to watch them being driven off and their poor mother crying in the lift.

Boyo7 · 13/12/2019 19:29

Yes, there is almost something incredibly selfish about those men. It made me sad when they were holding them skin to skin and they were rooting around for their mum.
