Anyone watching?

I love stuff like this.

Babies look so similar as well, miniature wrinkly old men.

vivacian · 12/12/2019 12:30

Definitely a new family last night who had not been in the programme before.

Yes, you’re right. They are absolutely, definitely, not shown at lambing time in episode one. I’ve completely made that up.

But if we pretend that they were in episode one and I am right, it’s an odd production decision to mention them, and then nothing until episode three.

IWorkAtTheCheesecakeFactory · 12/12/2019 12:34

I thought it was weird that they showed farming family in episode one and then forgot about them altogether until episode 3. When they popped up last night I went “oh yeah! I’d forgotten about them” so they were definitely shown before but very briefly.

lynsey91 · 12/12/2019 12:42

I've checked programme 1 and yes the farming family were in it for all of 7 seconds!

Mo looks so down and fed up. He probably sees his life as stuck with Syler's mum and in a dead end job paying minimum wage.

The couple with 5 children just really irritate me. She keeps saying they might have more children while he just says he is not sure even having admitted he never wanted 5. Why would you keep having children and not really thinking it through? Is she never going back to work?

How mad that twins can be only half siblings

20viona · 12/12/2019 12:55

I feel sorry for Mo he really doesn't get an opinion and he won't while they live in that house with everyone else. love the dads of the twins how sweet and Mel is an absolute saint, I really felt for her when she left the hospital without a baby or two to show for it. Such a selfless thing to do.

When my daughter had twins the consultant told her they weren't necessarily conceived at the same time (fraternal twins) just in the same month. So it's possible you could have twins with different fathers even by natural means.

SleepingStandingUp · 12/12/2019 14:21

How mad that twins can be only half siblings it's crazy isn't it. I did wonder if egg 2 didn't take and egg 1 split, but split early e ough to give two placentas, thry never know...

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 12/12/2019 14:48

vivacian I agree they WERE in the first episode fleetingly.

Perhaps they weren't able to film for the second episode? It was odd for them to pop up again!

dottypotter · 12/12/2019 15:17

i dont like watching the dads everything is such a drama ie the babys nappy change.

vivacian · 12/12/2019 16:09

I loved seeing the conversation about the rocket to the moon.

ihatethecold · 12/12/2019 17:47

watching the 2 dads made me feel emotional. He had such overwhelming love for his child. it was beautiful to watch. When he had a tear just looking at her was lovely.

hifolks · 12/12/2019 18:15

I've missed a bit of this can anyone bring me up to speed please?

Did the surrogate do it for money?

Tiredandgrumpytonight · 12/12/2019 18:23

My OH has just informed me it happens with sheep and a ewe can give birth to two totally different breeds of lamb (at least one being a cross obviously)

IWorkAtTheCheesecakeFactory · 12/12/2019 18:42

Wow that’s interesting. I’d imagine it’s rare even with sheep though as farmers control which rams go in with sheep and when etc so a different breed ram getting in would be an accident?

Tiredandgrumpytonight · 12/12/2019 18:52

Yes or I suppose if they had more than one in and weren’t bothered about who bred who and both got to one ewe Smile

MyDcAreMarvel · 12/12/2019 19:46

No the surrogate was a work colleague.

hifolks · 12/12/2019 20:04

I didn't like the whole surrogate thing. Poor babies and poor Mum.

SleepingStandingUp · 12/12/2019 20:14

My twisn only have one dad. They feel boring now 😂

The surrogate knew what she was getting in to, she actively offered to be a surrogate for her work mate having had her own kids. It isn't like she was misled into it

I thought Mel came across as very grounded and sensible. I'm not sure why people are questioning her agency in being a surrogate.

I also loved the dads' very real emotional response to their daughters. I thought that they were pretty calm, I'm not getting "everything is drama" at all.

Namechange14000 · 12/12/2019 20:29

That still doesn't make it less sad or she isn't to expect some type of loss. Also, this could have been her first time being a surrogate for a couple. Sometimes, we don't always know how we would feel till we are in the situation.

Anyway, and I don't mean to be rude. But it just looked unnatural- the whole being taking away from your birth parent as soon as you give birth to them.

Boyo7 · 12/12/2019 20:33

I felt sad for those baby twins.

Sparklybaublefest · 12/12/2019 21:13

yes, did the surrogate mum breast feed them even once, or is that not a thing?

titnomatani · 12/12/2019 21:29

Did the surrogate do it for money? I wondered this too @hifolks but I'm sure surrogacy for money (other than genera expenses) is illegal in this country?
