I think the judges have now said several times that Karim needs to rein it in, but that message doesn’t appear to be getting through. (I don’t think Amy is helping here, she’s come over as extremely intense lately.). Admittedly the Charleston isn’t the dance where you go for “less is more”. But it’s a shame actually because, for me, the dances which you really enjoy are the ones which move you, where you feel a connection - I think you can get that from something really beautiful, or where the storytelling / characterisation works, or where there is chemistry between the dancers, but NOT from over-the-top acrobatics and kicks and doing things as fast as you can and all that nonsense. It doesn’t help that Karim is a bit of a camera-hogger who is always trying to insert himself into other people’s airtime (that kiss to Oti and strange touching of Kelvin’s face last week during their claud 9 interview being an example). At the start of the competition I was “wow he’s good”, but I’ve liked him less as time has gone on.
